Abstract

Il trovato consiste in un paio di occhiali al cui interno trovano alloggiamento un insieme di emettitori infrarosso e corrispondenti rivelatori, atti a determinare le distanze di eventuali ostacoli intercettati dai raggi emessi. Le direzioni di emissione sono fisse rispetto agli occhiali e sondano la fascia verticale di fronte al non vedente che va dalla linea di vista a terra. Le informazioni sulle distanze e direzioni degli ostacoli sono trasmesse in tempo reale al non vedente tramite la pelle con l'ausilio di vibratori e con suoni codificati tramite auricolari.Con la rotazione della testa il non vedente è in grado di farsi un'immagine dell'ambiente che lo circonda nel raggio di 6-7 metri. L'elettronica che governa tutto il sistema può essere residente nelle aste degli occhiali oppure remota.
