【請求項3】
上記最大輝度信号算出手段に、上記カラー画像表示手段のプロファイルデータを供与するプロファイルデータ記憶手段をさらに具備し、
このプロファイルデータ手段には、各原色毎にサンプル信号を実測して得られた所定のフォーマットに変換された最大発光時のXYZデータと、入力信号値と発光輝度との関係を与える階調特性データからなる上記プロファイルデータを記憶することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の色再現システム。
正確な色再現を行うにあたって、4原色以上の多原色ディスプレーを含むディスプレーの色変換方法としては、以下の条件を満たす必要がある。第1に、測色的に正確な色再現が可能な変換方法である。第2に、XYZと信号値とが連続性を有する。第3に、これらの条件を満たす変換が色再現域を最大に利用して行うことができることである。これらの条件に加え、変換が高速に行なえることが望まれる。また、加法混色が厳密に成り立たない(発光スペクトルが他の原色の出力と独立でない)場合でも精度良く測色的に正しい変換が可能であることが望まれる。
以上のような構成の色再現システムは、画像データXYZを測色的に正確に再現するディスプレーへの入力信号に変換することが可能であり、更にXYZと信号値との連続性、色再現域の最大利用という条件を満たし、加法混色が厳密に成り立たないディスプレーについても、高精度にXYZと信号値を対応づけられる。

【発明の効果】
以上詳述したように本発明によれば、3原色若しくは多原色ディスプレーを対象とし、測色的に正確な色再現が可能で、XYZと信号値との連続性を有し、色再現域を最大に利用する色再現システムを提供することができる。
