Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coated seed even in a small amount of seed in granulation and coating of seed. SOLUTION: In granulation and coating of a small amount of seed, seeds different in particle diameter are simultaneously fed to a granulator and granulated and coated. This method for producing a coated seed comprises, in granulation and coating of a small amount of a seed, simultaneously feeding a seed and a decoy seed different in particle diameter to a granulator, increasing an apparent seed amount and carrying out granulation and coating. The decoy seed useful in the operation is not particularly restricted and the particle diameter of the decoy seed is preferably <=0.5 or >= twice as long as that of a small amount of the seed to be coated.

2. Description of the Related Art In the agricultural field, coated seeds are used for labor saving. Among the flower seeds, particularly, lithianthus, beconia, torenia, petunia, and the like are fine seeds, which can be easily handled by granulating and coating the seeds with an inorganic substance, and also enable precise mechanical sowing to plug trays. In addition, green onions, lettuce,
Ginseng, spinach and the like have large seeds themselves, but are flat in shape and have a greater merit of granulation coating than spherical seeds such as Chinese cabbage and cabbage.

Techniques for granulating and coating seeds have been known for a long time (eg, Japanese Patent Publication No. 38-3469, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 54-85908, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 60-12905, and Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2-57111). Conventional methods for producing coated seeds include water-soluble binders (binders) such as PVA, CMC, MC, gelatin, starch, and pullulan, as well as diatomaceous earth, red earth, calcium carbonate, perlite, talc,
There is known a method of performing coating by using a powder material (inorganic substance) such as clay and carion and alternately applying both to a seed.

[0004] That is, a water-soluble binder is sprayed on the surface of a seed, and then an inorganic substance is introduced to coat the seed with a powder. By repeating this operation, a method of coating the surface of the seed with an inorganic substance to a desired size (thickness) is general. Further, as a device used for coating, a centrifugal flow type granulator, an inclined rotating pan type granulator, an Erich-type rolling granulator and the like are known.

[0005] However, there are problems in coating small amounts of seeds by known methods which are generally known. For example, small seeds of flowers have a huge number of grains even in small quantities, and the need to granulate and coat a large number of small seeds is very limited (eg, large seed and seedling manufacturers). Fine seeds and vegetable seeds could not be coated (the conventional method required a large amount of seeds corresponding to the size of the coating apparatus to granulate and coat the seeds).

According to the method for producing coated seeds of the present invention, when a small amount of seeds are granulated and coated, the seeds and decoy seeds having different particle sizes are simultaneously added, and the apparent seed amount is increased to form a granulated coating. By doing so, the above-mentioned problem is completely solved.

The decoy seed used when granulating and coating a small amount of seed in the present invention is a seed having a particle size different from that of the seed, and both can be easily separated by a sieve during the granulating coating or after the coating operation. Is required. For this purpose, the size of the decoy seed used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but the particle size is 0.5 times or less or 2 times or more as compared with a small amount of seeds to be coated.
It is preferably at most twice. If the particle size of the decoy seed is close to the particle size of the seed to be coated, it cannot be separated by a sieve during the coating operation, and the object of the present invention cannot be achieved.

[0009] The decoy seeds are not necessarily limited to plant seeds, but may be made of plastics, ceramics, or other materials. The shape of the decoy seed is preferably spherical, but is not necessarily limited. During the coating operation, the small amount of decoy seeds are granulated and coated to a sufficient size, and the coating operation is interrupted when granulation coating is possible (when the decoy seeds are no longer needed). After separating the decoy seeds with a sieve, a small amount of seed coating operation is further continued and the coating operation is completed when the particle size of the coated seeds reaches a desired size. The coating operation may be performed without separating the decoy seeds on the way (in this case, it is essential that both can be separated by a sieve after the coating operation is completed).

0.19 and goldfish seeds (average particle size 0.55 mm) 15
9 at the same time, granulation coating under the same conditions as in Example 1, without separating the sieve in the middle, after 30 minutes, the seeds of Beconia and decoy goldfish grass are separated by a sieve and the average particle size is A 1 mm beconia coated seed was dried at 30 ° C. for 20 hours to obtain a product. [Example 3] Impatiens seeds (flat) 0.59
And 15 g of goldfish seeds (average particle size: 0.55 mm) were added simultaneously, and granulation coating was performed under the same conditions as in Example 1. After 10 minutes, the coating operation was interrupted, and the goldfish of decoy seeds was separated by a sieve. After that, further coated only impatiens coated seeds for 10 minutes,
A rugby-like impatiens-coated seed was obtained. The seed was dried at 35 ° C. for 20 hours to obtain a product. Example 4 Petunia seeds (average particle size 0.2 mm)
