(57)【要約】 情報信号中に埋め込まれた透かし情報は前記情報信号と複数の透かし情報Ｗj（n）との相関をとることによって検出される。この場合には前記情報信号ｘi（n）中に埋め込まれている透かし情報を特定するためにそれぞれの相関量Ｃ（ｉ，ｊ）を評価する。本発明は前記情報信号と透かし情報との相関をとる処理の前に前記情報信号を予測フィルタリング処理すること及び／又は前記供給される透かし情報を予測フィルタリング処理することによって透かし情報の検出精度を著しく向上させる。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 情報信号に埋め込まれた透かし情報の検出方法 本発明は、情報信号と供給される透かし情報との相関をとる相関ステップと、 前記相関の結果を評価する評価ステップとを具え、前記情報信号中に埋め込まれ ている透かし情報を検出する方法に関するものである。本発明はこの方法を実施 するための装置にも関するものである。 透かし情報は、静止画・アニメーション又はビデオの如きマルチメディアのコ ンテンツに埋め込まれた知覚的に見ることができないメッセージである。こうし た透かし情報は、例えば電子文書や、オーディオビジョアルプログラムの出所又 は著作権についての情報で構成される。透かし情報は著作権の所有者を法的に証 明するのに用いることができる。こうしたもので著作権の侵害を追跡し、且つ知 的所有権の保護をすることができる。 情報信号中に埋め込まれた透かし情報を検出する既知の方法は、前記情報信号 と供給される透かし情報との相関をとるための相関ステップを具えている。この 場合は、前記相関の結果を評価する。例えば、相関量が或る予定値よりも大きい 場合には、供給された透かし情報は情報信号中に埋め込まれた透かし情報である と見なすことができる。或いは又、供給される種々の透かし情報に対して順次多 数の相関ステップを実行することができる。この場合には、最大の相関を呈する ことになる供給された透かし情報を、情報信号中に埋め込まれている透かし情報 と同じであると見なすことができる。本発明の目的及び概要 本発明の目的は特に、埋め込まれている透かし情報をより一層確実に検出し得 る方法を提供することにある。 このために、本発明による方法は、前記情報信号及び前記供給された透かし情 報の一方又は双方を予測フィルタリング処理し、これにて処理した情報信号と前 記フィルタリング処理した透かし情報とに対して前記相関ステップを適用するこ とを特徴とする。 本発明は透かし情報を検出する際の問題が、強い妨害又は雑音の存在下での弱 い無線又はレーダ信号の検出に非常に似ていると云う認識に基づくものである。 予測フィルタリング、即ち前記信号から予測情報信号を抽出することにより、分 散がかなり低い残差信号が得られる。このことは、透かし情報が残差情報で害を こうむることになる妨害は、透かし情報が元の信号で害をこうむるよりも遙かに 少ないことを意味している。 以下本発明を添付図面を参照して実施例につき説明するに、ここに、 図１はビデオ信号に透かし情報を入れる装置の概略図であり、 図２は図１に示した装置によって発生されるビデオ信号中に埋め込まれた透か し情報を検出する従来の装置の概略図であり、 図３及び図４は本発明による透かし情報検出装置の概略図である。 ここでは本発明をディジタルビデオ信号中に埋め込んだ透かし情報を検出する 例によって説明する。透かし情報は、例えば時間ドメイン、空間ドメイン、ＤＣ Ｔ又はフーリエ変換後の変換ドメイン等の如き殆どすべてのドメインに加えるこ とができる。本例では透かし情報を空間ドメインに埋め込むのであって、即ち透 かし情報をディジタルビデオ信号の輝度画素値に加えるようにする。 図１はビデオ信号に透かし情報を入れる装置１を概略的に示したものである。 この装置は輝度サンプル又は画素ｐ（ｎ）の形態のビデオ信号及び透かし情報Ｗi を受信する。この透かし情報は著作権の所有権を独自に識別するコードとする ことができる。透かし情報はテキストストリングとするか、又は単に２進符号化 数とすることもできる。従って、透かし情報には有限集合の種々の透かし情報Ｗi がある。透かし情報埋め込み装置は透かしデータ信号発生器１１を具えており 、これは各透かし情報Ｗiに対する予定した透かしデータ信号ｗi（n）を発生す る。輝度値ｐ(n)及び透かしデータ値ｗi（n）は加算器１２によって画素毎に加 算される。従って、透かし埋め込み装置１の出力信号ｘi（n）は次のようになる 。即ち、 ｘi（n）＝ｐ(n)＋ｗi（n） 透かしデータ信号ｗi（n）は、出力信号を受信機にて表示する場合に、そのデ ータ信号が知覚的に見えないように選定する。例えば、透かし情報Ｗiによって 決定される選択画素の輝度値ｐ(n)に小さな値の透かしデータ信号を加えるよう にする。その一例を水平方向の８画素と垂直方向の４画素とから成る画像につい て説明する。なお、本発明による方法は画像の予定した部分に適用することもで きる。この方法は各ブロックが透かし情報の一部に関連する複数の画像ブロック に適用することもできる。 本例では、選択画素の輝度値に値１を加えるが、他の画素はそのままとする。 次式は第１透かし信号Ｗ1に応答して透かしデータ信号発生器１１によって発生 する透かしデータ信号ｗ1(n)を示す。 次式は第２透かし情報Ｗ2が供給される場合に、透かしデータ信号発生器によっ て発生される透かしデータ信号ｗ2(n)を示す。 このように、透かしデータ信号発生器１１は各透かし情報Ｗiに対して異なる透 かしデータ信号ｗi（n）を発生する。 本例では、ビデオ画像が輝度値１０から輝度値８０まで縦断的な推移を呈する ものとする。輝度値ｐ(n)の範囲は０〜２５５とする。数学的表示法では次のよ うになる。 従って、透かし情報Ｗ1が装置１に供給される場合には、透かしデータ信号ｗ1 (n)が画像信号ｐ(n)に加えられ、出力信号ｘ1(n)は次のようになる。同様に、透かし情報Ｗ2が透かし埋め込み装置に供給される場合には、透かしデ ータ信号ｗ2(n)が画像信号ｐ(n)に加えられて、出力信号ｘ2(n)は次のようにな る。 出力信号ｘi（n）と入力信号ｐ(n)との差も、出力信号ｘ1(n)とｘ2(n)との差も 人間の視覚系では知覚できないことは明らかである。出力信号ｘi（n）は光ディ スク又は磁気テープの如き記憶媒体に格納するか、伝送チャネルを経て伝送する が、この点は図１には図示してない。 図２は信号ｘi（n）中に埋め込まれている透かし情報Ｗiを検出するための従 来の装置２を概略的に示したものである。この装置は透かし情報Ｗjを受信して 、この供給された透かし情報Ｗjが埋め込み透かし情報Ｗiに似ているか、否か、 即ちｉ＝ｊであるかどうかの指示を与える。検出装置は透かしデータ信号発生器 ２１を具えており、これは図１に示した透かしデータ信号発生器１１と同一構成 のもので、しかもそれと同じように透かしデータ信号ｗj（n）を発生する。入力 信号ｘi（n）及び透かしデータ信号ｗj（n）は整合フィルタ又は相関器と称され ることもある回路に供給される。図２に示す例では、前記相関器を乗算器２２と 加算回路２３とで構成する。相関器は次のような数学的な演算を行なう。 ここに、Ｎは画素の総数を示す。情報信号がアナログ信号、例えば時間的に連続 する信号ｘ(t)である場合には、加算回路２３を積分器とすることは明らかであ る。 相関器の出力は、入力信号ｘi（n）と透かしデータ信号ｗi（n）との相関量を 表す数値Ｃ（ｉ，ｊ）である。この数値Ｃ（ｉ，ｊ）が評価回路２４にて様々な 透かし情報Ｗjに対して評価される。この場合、最高の相関を呈する透かし情報 Ｗjが透かし情報Ｗiに相当するものとする。ここでは僅か２つの異なる透かし情 報だけを考慮する。 相関値Ｃ（ｉ，ｊ）は容易に計算することができる。透かし情報Ｗ1が信号中 に埋め込まれている場合には、ｘ1（n）とｗ1（n）との間の相関がＣ（１，１） ＝７３６となるのに対し、ｘ1（n）とｗ2（n）との間の相関はＣ（１，２）＝７ ２８となることは明らかである。Ｃ（１，１）はＣ（１，２）よりも大きいから 、評価回路２４は埋め込まれている透かし情報がＷ1であることを特定する。透 かし情報Ｗ2が埋め込まれている場合には、ｘ2（n）とｗ1（n）との間の相関が Ｃ（２，１）＝７２８となるのに対し、ｘ2(n)とｗ2(n)との間の相関はＣ（２， ２）＝７３６となることは明らかである。Ｃ（２，２）はＣ（２，１）よりも大 きいから、評価回路２４は埋め込まれている透かし情報がＷ2であることを特定 する。次表Ｉは上述した結果をまとめたものであり、この表の行は入力信号ｘi （n）、即ち透かし情報Ｗiが埋め込まれている入力信号を示し、列は検出装置２ に供給される透かし情報Ｗjを示す。 この例から明らかなように、相関量を表すＣ（ｉ，ｊ）の値は互いに近い値で ある。このことは検出装置が雑音や、伝送誤差や、符号化誤り等に対して感じや すいと云うことを意味している。 図３は信号ｘi（n）中に埋め込まれている透かし情報Ｗiを検出するための本 発明による検出装置３を概略的に示したものである。この検出装置は図２に示し たのと同じ透かしデータ信号発生器２１、乗算器２２、加算回路２３及び評価回 路２４を具えている。検出装置はさらに、第１予測フィルタ２５及び第２予測フ ィルタ２６も具えている。第１予測フィルタ２５は信号入力端子と乗算器２２と の間に接続する。このフィルタは入力信号ｘi（n）をろ波し、ろ波された入力信 号ｘi'（n）を発生する。このプレフィルタリング処理は“ホワイトニング”と も称され、これはレーダ及び無線通信受信機にて雑音の相関を解除するフィルタ に似ている。 第２予測フィルタ２６は透かしデータ信号発生器２１と乗算器２２との間に接 続する。このフィルタは局所的に供給される透かしデータ信号ｗj（n）をろ波し て、このろ波された透かしデータ信号ｗj'（n）を発生する。各予測フィルタは 情報信号の統計的特性に基づいて構成する。斯種のフィルタは本来ソースコーデ ィングの分野にて既知である。例えば、ＤＰＣＭ画像及び音声コーディングに用 いられるような線形予測フィルタがある。他の例として、変換と、各周波数サブ バンド又は変換係数に対する予測と、逆変換とを組合わせたものがある。 入力信号をディジタルビデオ入画像とする本例では、予測フィルタ２５が各画 素値をその近隣の左、右、上及び下の画素から予測する。次いで、この予測値を 実際の画素値から差し引いて、残差値を得る。これは、数学的表示法で次のよう に表される。 ここに、ｕ及びｖは水平（ｕ）及び垂直（ｖ）軸線に沿う個別の画素位置を示し 、ｙ（ｕ，ｖ）はフィルタの入力サンプルを示し、ｙ’（ｕ，ｖ）はフィルタの 出力サンプルを示す。従って、ろ波した入力信号ｘ1’（n）及びろ波した入力信 号ｘ2'（n）に対してそれぞれ次式が当てはまる（なお、整数値を維持するため にスケーリングファクタを４としてある）。 さらに、この例では第１予測フィルタ２５と第２予測フィルタ２６を同じとす る。これは検出装置が最良の性能を呈するようにするのに好適ではあるが、必ず しもそのようにする必要はない。両フィルタは相違するものとするか、又はこれ らの予測フィルタ２５及び２６のうちの１つを省くこともできる。このようにし ても、透かし検出装置の性能は従来の検出装置の性能よりもかなり優れている。 従って、ろ波した透かしデータ信号ｗ1’（n）及びろ波した透かしデータ信号ｗ2 '（n）に対してそれぞれ次式が当てはまる。 次表IIはろ波した入力信号ｘi'（n）と透かし情報Ｗjに対応するろ波した透かし データ信号ｗj'（n）との間の相関の量Ｃ（ｉ，ｊ）を示す。表Ｉとの比較から 明らかなように、図３に示した透かし検出装置の性能は図２に示したものより も遙かに優れている。 表IIIはろ波した入力信号ｘi'（n）とろ波してない透かしデータ信号ｗj（n） との間の相関量、即ち、入力信号ｘi（n）だけを予測フィルタリングした場合の 相関量を示している。この場合には、透かしデータ信号ｗj（n）を乗算器２２に 直接供給する。表IIIから明らかなように、この場合の検出装置の性能は表IIの 場合よりも劣るが、それでも表Ｉの場合よりは優れている。 表IVはろ波してない入力信号ｘi（n）とろ波した透かしデータ信号ｗj'（n） との間の相関量、即ち透かしデータ信号ｗj（n）だけを予測フィルタリングした 場合の相関量を示している。この場合には入力信号ｘi（n）を乗算器２２に直接 供給する。この場合の性能も表IIの場合よりも劣るが、それでも表Ｉのものより も優れている。 図４は埋め込み透かし情報を検出する装置の他の実施例を示す。この検出装置 では、入力信号ｘi（n）の各画素を乗算器４２にて或る特定の荷重係数で逓倍す る。この逓倍した積を加算回路４３にて加算して、相関値Ｃ（ｉ，ｊ）を配信す る。計算回路４４は供給される透かし情報Ｗjを受信して、情報信号の統計的特 性のモデルを用いて荷重係数を発生する。この実施例では入力信号に予測フィル タリング処理を施していないが、計算回路４４では予測フィルタリング処理も行 なうようにする。 要するに、情報信号中に埋め込まれた透かし情報は、前記情報信号と複数の透 かし情報Ｗj（n）との相関をとることによって検出される。この場合、それぞれ の相関量Ｃ（ｉ，ｊ）を評価して、情報信号ｘi（n）中に埋め込まれている透か し情報を決定する。本発明によれば、信号の相関プロセスの前に情報信号を予測 フィルタリング処理（２５）すること及び／又は供給された透かし情報を予測フ ィルタリング処理すること（２６）によって透かし情報の検出精度を著しく向上 させることができる。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1. 情報信号中に埋め込まれている透かし情報を検出する方法であって、前記情 報信号と供給された透かし情報との相関をとる相関ステップと、前記相関の結 果を評価する評価ステップとを具えている透かし情報検出方法において、前記 情報信号及び前記供給された透かし情報の一方又は双方を予測フィルタリング 処理し、これにて処理した情報信号と前記フィルタリング処理した透かし情報 とに対して前記相関ステップを適用することを特徴とする透かし情報検出方法 。 2. 前記予測フィルタリング処理を前記情報信号の予定した統計的特性に適合さ せることを特徴とする請求の範囲１に記載の方法。 3. 前記双方の予測フィルタリング処理を同じとすることを特徴とする請求の範 囲１に記載の方法。 4. 情報信号に埋め込まれている透かし情報を検出する方法であって、供給され た透かし情報によって決定されるフィルタ係数を用いて前記情報信号をフィル タリング処理するステップと、前記フィルタリング処理の結果を評価するステ ップとを具えている透かし情報検出方法において、前記フィルタ係数を前記情 報信号の統計的特性のモデルによっても決定することを特徴とする透かし情報 検出方法。 5. 情報信号中に埋め込まれている透かし情報（Ｗi）を検出する装置であって 、前記情報信号（ｘi）と供給された透かし情報（Ｗj）との相関をとる相関 手段（２２，２３）と、前記相関の結果を評価する評価手段（２４）とを具え ている透かし情報検出装置において、前記情報信号をフィルタリング処理する 予測フィルタ（２５）及び前記供給された透かし情報をフィルタリング処理す る予測フィルタ（２６）の一方又は双方の予測フィルタを設け、フィルタリン グ処理した情報信号及びフィルタリング処理した透かし情報を前記相関手段に 供給するようにしたことを特徴とする透かし情報検出装置。 6. 前記予測フィルタ（２５，２６）を前記情報信号の予定した統計的特性に適 合させるようにしたことを特徴とする請求の範囲４に記載の装置。 7. 前記両予測フィルタ（２５，２６）を同じものとすることを特徴とする請求 の範囲５に記載の装置。 8. 情報信号（ｘi）中に埋め込まれた透かし情報（Ｗi）を検出する装置であ って、フィルタ係数を用いて前記情報信号をフィルタリング処理するフィルタ （４１，４２，４３）と、供給された透かし情報（Ｗj）に応じて前記フィル タ係数を計算する計算手段（４４）と、前記フィルタリング処理の結果を評価 する評価手段（２４）とを具えている透かし情報検出装置において、前記計算 手段（４４）を前記情報信号の統計的特性のモデルに従って前記フィルタ計数 を決定するのにも適合させるようにしたことを特徴とする透かし情報検出装置 。
