Abstract

Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.光ファイバの作成方法で、前記方法が、 屈折率がn2のクラッド・ガラス領域に囲まれる屈折率がn1のガラス・コア領 域を有し、前記クラッド・ガラス領域は前記コア領域に関して直径方向に対向 し前記コア領域から離しておかれた孔を有し、前記コア領域と前記孔との間に 屈折率がn3であり粘度が前記クラッド・ガラス領域の粘度より低い低粘度ガ ラス領域を有する、光ファイバ延伸ブランクを形成し、 前記孔が閉じ、前記コアの断面が楕円状になるような速度で、光ファイバを 前記延伸ブランクから引き伸ばす、 ことを含むことを特徴とする方法。 2.前記形成工程が、 前記ガラス・コアが、第2のクラッド・ガラス層に囲まれる、粘度が前記第 2の層の粘度より低い第1のクラッド・ガラス層に囲まれ、直径方向に対向す る側面に沿って長さ方向に1対の溝が伸びている円筒形のガラス予備成形品を 作成し、 前記ガラス予備成型品をガラス管に挿入して前記コアの直径方向に対向する 長さ方向の孔を有する組立品を形成し、 前記予備成型コアの上まで前記管を収縮させる、 ことを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項記載の方法。 3.前記溝がクラッド・ガラスの前記第2の層を貫通して伸びていることを特徴 とする請求の範囲第2項記載の方法。 4.さらに、前記予備成形コアと前記管との間の接触面を融着して固結組立品を 形成することを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲第3項記載の方法。 5.前記低粘度ガラス領域が前記コア領域を完全に囲むことを特徴とする請求の 範囲第1項記載の方法。 6.n3≦n2であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項記載の方法。 7.前記低粘度領域が、添加物B2O3,フッ素,P2O5及びGeO2の内1つま たはそれ以上を含むSiO2で形成されることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項 記載 の方法。 8.前記クラッドガラス領域がSiO2からなることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項記載の方法。 9.光ファイバの作成方法で、前記方法が、 中央コア領域、 前記コア領域を囲む第1のクラッド・ガラス層、 前記第1の層を囲み、粘度が前記第1の層の粘度より大きい第2のクラッド ・ガラス層 前記第2の層の直径方向に対向する側面に沿って長さ方向に伸びる1対の溝 、 前記第2の層を囲むガラス管、及び 前記管を囲むガラス粒子の層、 を含む円筒形組立晶を形成し、 前記組立品を加熱して前記粒子を固結させることにより、 前記管に半径方向で内向きの力をかけて前記加熱された管を前記第2の層の 上まで収縮させ融着させて、前記コアに平行な長さ方向の孔を有する延伸ブラ ンクを形成し、 前記得られた延伸ブランクを引き伸ばして、断面に孔のない光ファイバを形 成する、 工程を含むことを特徴とする方法。 10.n3≦n2であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第9項記載の方法。 11.断面形状が楕円状で屈折率n1、アスペクト比ρ1を有するコア、ここでρ1 はb1/a1に等しく、b1は前記コアの長軸半径でありa1は前記コアの短軸半 径である。 前記コアを囲む断面形状が楕円状で、アスペクト比ρ2を有する低粘度ガラ ス領域、ここでρ2はb2/a2に等しく、b2は前記低粘度領域の長軸半径であ りa2は前記低粘度領域の短軸半径であって、前記アスペクト比ρ1は前記アス ペクト比ρ2より大きい。 前記低粘度領域を囲む、屈折率がn2のクラッド・ガラス層で、前記クラッ ド・ガラス層の粘度より前記低粘度領域の粘度が低いクラッド・ガラス層、 を含むことを特徴とする光ファイバ。 12.n3≦n2であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第11項記載の光ファイバ。 13.前記低粘度領域が、添加物B2O3,フッ素,P2O5及びGeO2の内1つま たはそれ以上を含むSiO2で形成されることを特徴とする請求の範囲第11 項記載の光ファイバ。 14.前記クラッドガラス領域が純SiO2からなることを特徴とする請求の範囲 第11項記載の光ファイバ。
