精留塔付反応機にDMT(テレフタル酸ジメチルエステル)36.9kg、BD(ブタンジール)37.7kg、酸化防止剤IRGANOX1330(日本チバガイギー社製)150g、TBT(テトラブチルチタネート)60gを仕込み、130℃から220℃まで2時間掛けて昇温し、常圧エステル交換反応を行った。次いで、220℃から245℃まで1時間掛けて昇温し、2hPa以下に減圧し、245℃で所定の溶融粘度まで重合反応を行った。得られたポリエステルの還元粘度は1.10dl/gであった。
得られたポリエステル樹脂41.8kgとPTMG(ポリテトラメチレングリコール、数平均分子量1000)を36.5kg、酸化防止剤IRGANOX1330を150g、チタンテトラブトキシ(TBT)を41g反応缶に仕込み、130℃から245℃まで1時間かけて昇温、上記ポリエステルがPTMG中に溶解するのを確認と同時に2hPa以下に減圧した。その後、2hPa以下で245℃で所定の溶融粘度まで重合を行った後、酸化防止剤としてIRGANOX1098(日本チバガイギー社製)375gを同反応缶に仕込み2hPa以下まで減圧し、5分間混合した。混合後、キャスティングしてポリマーをペレット化し、回収した。得られたポリエステルエラストマーの還元粘度は1.90dl/g、組成PTA//BD/PTMG=100//81.0/19.0(モル比)、遊離の芳香族ジカルボン酸が38ppm、遊離ブタンジオールが6ppm、遊離の芳香族ジカルボン酸モノブチルグリコールエステル含有量が5ppm、遊離の芳香族ジカルボン酸ジブチルグリコールエステル含有量が88ppmで、色調、耐熱性、フレバー性が良好であった。
