Abstract
Description
喘息は、(i)気管支収縮、(ii)過剰粘液生成、(iii)気道の炎症および腫れが発生して、広範囲にわたるが可変である気流閉塞を引き起こすことによって喘息患者が呼吸しにくくなる病気である。喘息は、主として、持続性気道炎症によって特徴づけられる慢性疾患である。しかしながら、喘息は、さらに、過敏性気道平滑筋の収縮を介したさらなる気道狭窄の種々の急性発作によって特徴づけられる。
本発明は、気道または他の生体構造部を処置するように構成された装置を含み、特に、曲がりくねった生体構造において有用であり得る。本明細書で説明する装置は、能動素子と組織とを均一または予測可能に接触(またはほぼ接触)させて処置するように構成される。一般的に、本発明は、内科医の労力がほとんどもしくは全くなく、この結果を可能にする。したがって、本発明の種々の局面は、医療手順を実施する際の効果および効率を向上させる。効果および効率の向上は、比較的長尺の能動端部材を有する装置を使用する際に特に明らかである。

Claims (30)
- 電源装置と共に使用されるカテーテルであって、
近端と、体内に挿入されるように適合された遠端とを有する細長シースであって、前記細長シースは、曲がりくねった生体構造を通るナビゲーションに適応する可撓性を有し、貫通する通路を有する、細長シースと、
エネルギーを身体管腔に付与するようになっている少なくとも1つのエネルギー移動素子に結合される、前記通路内に摺動可能に位置し、シャフト外面を有する可撓性細長シャフトと、
複数の脚部を含むエネルギー移動籠であって、前記脚部の各々が遠位端と近位端とを有し、そして前記脚部が、全長を下回る撓み長さを有する、エネルギー移動籠と、
軸線に沿って延在する複数の近座を有する近整列構成要素であって、前記細長シャフトに固定される、近整列構成要素と、
軸線に沿って延在する複数の遠座を有する遠整列構成要素であって、前記複数の近座が、前記複数の遠座と整列している、遠整列構成要素と、
