Abstract
【解決手段】本発明は、低温ホットメルト接着剤の包装方法であって、該ホットメルト接着剤は135℃〜65.5℃という低い温度で処理可能であり、(1)溶融した該ホットメルト接着剤を、10%超のメチルアクリレートを含むエチレン−メチルアクリレート共重合体を含み、90℃未満の融点をもつプラスチックフィルムの円筒形チューブ内に圧送又は注ぎ込むこと、ここで該円筒形チューブは、冷却用放熱器と直接接触しており、該溶融接着剤はプラスチックフィルムの融点以上の温度で該チューブ内に圧送又は注ぎ込まれ、一方で該チューブの表面には冷水が噴霧されていること、(2)溶融ホットメルト接着剤が充てんされた円筒を密封すること、そして(3)充てんされた円筒を冷却すること、を含んでなる方法である。

Description
溶融又は液体状態にある間に一般に塗布されるホットメルト接着剤は、室温では固体である。典型的には、これらの接着剤はブロックの形で提供され、これらの材料、特に、感圧ホットメルトの性質のため、それらを取扱い包装することに付随する問題が存在する。固体接着剤ブロックは、手又は機械的取扱い装置に対してのみならず、互いに対しても粘着又は接着する。これらは又、汚れ及びその他の汚染物質を拾い上げる。さらに、高粘着性配合物を必要とする或る種の利用分野では、結果として、出荷中に支持されていないかぎり変形又は常温流れを起こすことになるブロックがもたらされる。
また本発明は、前記のフィルムが、10%〜45%のメチルアクリレートを含むエチレン−メチルアクリレート共重合体を含む上記の方法である。
更に本発明は、耐ブロッキング剤を含む上記の方法である。
本発明は、低塗布温度接着剤、特に約135℃(約275°F)から約65.5℃(約150°F)までの温度で塗布される接着剤及び感圧接着剤のための包装システムを提供している。
本発明の1つの態様は、約100℃未満の融点をもつフィルムの中に封入された低温ホットメルト接着剤を含む封入又は包装されたホットメルト接着剤に向けられている。封入用フィルムは、接着剤組成物といっしょに溶融可能であり、かつ接着剤の特性に有害な影響を及ぼすことなく溶融した接着剤中に配合可能である。
本発明は、包装された低温ホットメルト接着剤及び、低温ホットメルト接着剤を封入するか又は包装する方法を提供する。
低温ホットメルト接着剤及び低塗布温度のホットメルト接着剤は、本書では互換的に用いられ、約135℃(約275°F)未満から約65.5℃(約150°F)という低い温度までで処理しうる接着剤を意味する。
不粘着性というのは、個々に包み込まれた接着剤ブロックが、貯蔵及び出荷の時点で梱包用ケース内でくっつき合わないということを意味している。
本発明の1つの方法においては、約65.5℃(約150°F)〜約135℃(約275°F)にある溶融したホットメルト接着剤が、約100℃未満の融点をもつプラスチックフィルム内に包み込まれる。接着剤を固体状態で包み込むことができるものの、好ましくは溶融状態で包み込まれる。包み込みは、手又は、より好ましくは、自動化された手順のいずれかで行なうことができる。
かくして包装されたホットメルト接着剤カートリッジは、当然のことながら、付加的に、環境に対する露呈、水分又はその他の汚染物質をさらに低減させるように第2の外部コンテナ内に包装することもできる。二次的包みはその後、ホットメルト接着剤の利用に先立ち従来の手順により除去されることになる。
例1
低温(87.8〜121.1℃(190〜250°F))での塗布に適したゴムベースの感圧ホットメルト接着剤を、従来の混合用機器を用いて調製した。この接着剤は、60℃(140°F)の軟化点及び107.2℃(225°F)で約6Pa・s(約6000cps)の溶融粘度をもつ。
例1で使用され、おむつの製造において用いるのに適しているホットメルト接着剤のブロック(500g、約10.2×10.2×6.4cm(約4インチ×4インチ×2 1/2インチ))を、Optema TC114フィルムで包み込み、コーター(J&M Lab Coater)内でテストした。フィルムは98.9℃(210°F)で容易に溶融し、90分間連続的に噴霧した場合に製品の噴霧性に対し全く影響を及ぼさなかった。なおこの時間中、9個の接着剤ブロックが消費された。全体にわたり、接着剤は、フィルムを含まない材料に対するのと同一のやり方で噴霧された。6日間40.6℃(105°F)に保持したブロックは、外側が粘着性となったが、フィルムを引裂くことなくなお分離させることができた。
ラベル貼りの利用分野で使用するのに適したNational Starch and Chemcal Company(Bridgewater, NJ)から入手可能なEVAベースのホットメルト接着剤であるEtimelt257の0.5kgのブロックを、幅15.2×26.7cm(10.5×6インチ)のOptema TC114フィルムの中に溶融状態で包装した。老化、フィルム分散性接着力及び不粘着試験を行なった。
Claims (3)
- 低温ホットメルト接着剤の包装方法であって、該ホットメルト接着剤は135℃〜65.5℃という低い温度で処理可能であり、(1)溶融した該ホットメルト接着剤を、10%超のメチルアクリレートを含むエチレン−メチルアクリレート共重合体を含み、90℃未満の融点をもつプラスチックフィルムの円筒形チューブ内に圧送するか又は注ぎ込むこと、ここで該円筒形チューブは、冷却用放熱器と直接接触しており、該溶融接着剤はプラスチックフィルムの融点またはそれ以上の温度で該チューブ内に圧送するか又は注ぎ込まれ、一方で該チューブの表面には冷水が噴霧されていること、(2)溶融ホットメルト接着剤が充てんされた円筒を密封すること、そして(3)充てんされた円筒を冷却すること、を含んでなる方法。
- 前記のフィルムが、10%〜45%のメチルアクリレートを含むエチレン−メチルアクリレート共重合体を含む請求項1記載の方法。
- 更に耐ブロッキング剤を含む請求項1または2記載の方法。
