Description
本願は、2008年9月16日付け米国仮特許出願番号61/097,527の利益を請求する。
詳細な説明および以下の実施例では、多くの用語が使用されている。明細書および請求の範囲の明確で一貫性のある理解を提供するために、次の定義が提供されている。
加えて、合金も本発明の実施に使用することができる。これらの合金は、複数の触媒金属の合金、ならびに、触媒金属および非触媒金属の合金を含む。その他の原料の組み合わせが可能である。
具体的には、電流は、上部コネクタ19のような、1つの電気コネクタから、上部導電性リング18、上部リング25、24、23、上部パンチ22、上部リング36、上側のディスク34、およびチューブ33とその内容物へ、供給される。チューブ33の底部から下側のコネクタ19への電気経路は、上記の導電性の経路に類似している。反応容器は、所望の時間所望の圧力と温度で開催された後、反応容器への電流が遮断され圧力がリリースされる。その後、生成している立方晶窒化ホウ素は、反応容器から除去される。
ガラス化結合グラインディング系での立方晶窒化ホウ素グレインのパフォーマンスを、2組のウェンドダニントン製グラインディングホイールを比較することにより測定した。同一のホイールを、従来のボラゾン(登録商標)1000立方晶窒化ホウ素製品(80/100メッシュサイズ)(ダイヤモンドイノベーション社、ワージントン、オハイオ州)および本明細書で教示された固有の形状を有する立方晶窒化ホウ素を用いて作製した。この特有の形状を有する立方晶窒化物製品は、グレイン上に少なくとも1つの面を含む立方晶窒化ホウ素グレインを90%超有していた。各グレイン上の形状の平均寸法は、高さが2マイクロメートルよりも大きく、横の長さは5マイクロメートルよりも大きかった。

本発明が特定の実施形態との関連で記載されているが、上記の詳細な説明と一貫性をもって、開示された発明に多くの代替、修正、変形をすることができることは当業者に明らかである。また、様々な開示された例示的な実施形態の一態様は、他の開示された実施形態または代替となるものと組み合わせて用いられ、ここでは明示的には記載されていない追加的な実施形態を生じることができ、それは請求の範囲の発明を組み入れ、且つ意図される用途または性能要求により適合したものであることも、当業者に明らかである。したがって、本発明の精神に含まれる、そのようなすべての代替、修正、および変形が特許請求の範囲内に包含されることを意図している。
Claims (32)
- グレイン面から突出する3つ以上の形状を含む少なくとも1つのグレイン面を有し、前記各形状の高さ(h)および横長さ(l)が約0.1マイクロメートルより大きい、コーティングされていない研磨または超研磨グレイン。
- 前記グレイン上の少なくとも一つの面が、約1. 0マイクロメートルより大きい深さを有する凹みである、請求項1に記載のグレイン。
- 前記凹み面が平滑である、請求項2に記載のグレイン。
- 前記凹み面が、不規則に変動しており、且つ複数の山と谷を含み、山と谷の間の高さが約0.1マイクロメートルより大きい、請求項2に記載のグレイン。
- 前記超研磨グレインは、立方晶窒化ホウ素グレインである、請求項1に記載のグレイン。
- 前記グレインが、金属、金属合金、ガラス、金属酸化物および炭化物の群から選択されるコーティング材料をさらに含む、請求項1に記載のグレイン。
- 少なくとも約15%のグレインが、3つ以上の形状を含む少なくとも1つのグレイン面を有し、各形状の高さ(h)および横長さ(l)が約0.1マイクロメートルより大きい、コーティング材料を有していない複数の超研磨グレイン。
- 少なくとも約20%のグレインが該グレイン上に、少なくとも一つの面を有し、該面が約1. 0マイクロメートルより大きい深さを有する凹みである、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 前記凹み面が平滑である、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 前記超研磨グレインは、立方晶窒化ホウ素グレインである、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 前記凹み面が、不規則に変動しており、且つ複数の山と谷を含み、山と谷の間の高さが約0.1マイクロメートルより大きい、請求項8に記載のグレイン。
- 少なくとも約20%のグレインが少なくとも一つの面を有し、該面がa) 約1. 0マイクロメートルより大きい深さを有する凹み、およびb)少なくとも一つの面に3つ以上の形状を含み、ここで該面は平滑であるかまたは不規則に変動しており、各形状の高さ(h)および横長さ(l)が約0.1マイクロメートルより大きい、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 少なくとも約20%のグレインが、次の種類の面、平滑、不規則に変動、凹みの二つ以上を組み合わせており、それらの面が一面あたり少なくとも三つの形状を有し、各形状の高さ(h)および横長さ(l)が約0.1マイクロメートルより大きい、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 該形状が、半楕円および/または細長いバンプ様の形である、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 該形状はグレイン面で均一に配向される、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 該形状はグレイン面でランダムに分布している、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 該形状は魚鱗に似た分布パターンを有している請求項6に記載のグレイン。
- 該形状は、約30-から約400+の範囲のグレインメッシュサイズで存在する、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 該形状は、約30+から約400-の範囲のグレインメッシュサイズで存在する、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 該形状は、約10マイクロメートル以下のグレインサイズで存在する、請求項7に記載のグレイン。
- 請求項1に記載の研磨グレインを含む切削工具。

- 少なくとも1つの面を有し、該面上に少なくとも3つの形状を含むグレインであって、前記形状の高さが該グレインの直径の約1%より大きい、グレイン。
- 少なくとも一つの凹み面を有し、該凹み面の深さが該グレインの直径の約3%より大きい、グレイン。
- 複数の立方晶窒化ホウ素(cBN)グレインを製造する方法であって、
六方晶窒化ホウ素(hBN) グレインを用意し、
触媒を用意し、
前記hBN グレインおよび前記触媒を一定時間高圧高温にしてcBNグレインを含む反応生成物を十分に形成し、および
水、酸性溶液および/または苛性化学薬品を用いて前記反応生成物から前記cBNグレインを洗浄する工程を含み、
前記複数のcBNグレインの少なくとも約15%が3つ以上の形状を有する少なくとも一つのグレイン面を有し、各形状の高さ(h)および横長さ(l)が約0.1マイクロメートルより大きく、前記グレインがコーティング材料を有していない、方法。 - 請求項29の方法によって製造された、複数のcBNグレイン。
- 前記cBNグレインが、前記方法を施していない通常のcBNグレインと比べて、約5% w/wの減量より大きい平均減量を有する、請求項29の方法。
- 複数の立方晶窒化ホウ素(cBN)グレインを製造する方法であって、
六方晶窒化ホウ素(hBN) グレインを用意し、
触媒を用意し、
前記hBN グレインおよび前記触媒を一定時間高圧高温にしてcBNグレインを含む反応生成物を十分に形成し、
約30秒を超える時間該圧力を下げて、前記cBNグレインの溶解を制限し、
該温度および圧力を雰囲気レベルまで下げ、および
約5から約10分間、約290℃から約400℃の温度で、水、酸性溶液および/または苛性化学薬品を用いて、前記反応生成物から前記cBNグレインを洗浄する工程を含み、
前記複数のcBNグレインの少なくとも約15%が3つ以上の形状を有する少なくとも一つのグレイン面を有し、各形状の高さ(h)および横長さ(l)が約0.1マイクロメートルより大きく、前記グレインがコーティング材料を有していない、方法。
