Abstract
【解決手段】汚染防止装置10は、円錐型の吸気口12と出口端13とを有する金属製ケーシング11を備える。無機繊維を含み、管状の、連続的な、継ぎ目のない、圧縮可能で、弾力的な取り付け物品又はマット30により囲まれた、モノリシックな汚染防止要素20が、ケーシング11内に配置されている。取り付け物品30は、ケーシング11内のモノリシック要素20をきつく、しかしながら弾力的に支持及び保持するように機能し、汚染防止要素20とケーシング11との間の空隙を封止し、それによって排気ガスが汚染防止要素20を迂回することを、低減するか、最小化するか、又は好ましくは防止する。

Description
内側表面、内側第1周辺部及び内側幾何学形状を有する、本明細書において記載される管状の、連続的な、継ぎ目のない、圧縮可能で、弾力的な取り付け物品を用意する工程と、
外側表面、外側周辺部及び外側幾何学形状を有する汚染防止要素を用意する工程であって、内側周辺部が外側周辺部よりも小さく、第1及び第2幾何学形状はほぼ同じである、工程と、
汚染防止要素の外側表面が取り付け物品の内側表面と摩擦接触するように、管状の、連続的な、継ぎ目のない、圧縮可能で、弾力的な取り付け物品及び汚染防止要素の少なくとも一部分を、拡張する円錐形のアセンブリと組み合わせ、それによって、取り付け物品の内側表面を張力下に置くことにより及び/又は取り付け物品の外側表面を圧縮することにより、取り付け物品がモノリス上で適所に確実に保持される。
本試験は、触媒コンバータ等の汚染防止要素の実際の使用中に見出される実際の条件の代表的な条件下で、取り付け物品により付与される圧力の測定に使用された。
(実施例1)
2.7kgの、焼きなまされたセラミック繊維(商標名「CERAFIBER」としてThermal Ceramics(Augusta,GA)から得られる)が、189リットル(50ガロン)の水にゆっくりと添加され、同時に400回転/分で低剪断工業用ミキサーにより混合された。全ての繊維が分散されたとき、クランプは存在せず、273グラムのラテックス(商標名「AIRFLEX 600 BP」としてAir Products(Philadelphia,Pa)から得られた、55重量%の固体を有する、エチレンビニルアクリレートターポリマーの水性乳化重合)が追加された。ラテックスの追加後、13.65グラムのポリマーブレンド(50%固体;商標名「MP 9307C」でMid South(Ringgold,LA)から得られる)が追加され、その後17.3グラムの消泡剤(商標名「FOAMASTER III」により、Henkel(Germany)から得られる)が追加された。更に94.6リットル(25ガロン)の水がその後スラリーに追加された。
第2の非膨張性シリンダーが、実施例1に記載されるように成形された。これは、約11.8cmの外径及び15.2cm長さを有するセラミックモノリス上へと、これが両端から軸方向に等距離になるまで滑らせた。モノリスは、取り付け物品の内部直径よりも約2mm小さい直径を有した。
6.4kgのセラミック繊維(商標名「7000M」でUnifrax Corp.(Niagara Falls,NY)から得られる)は、210リットル(53.2ガロン)にゆっくりと追加される一方で、低剪断工業用ミキサーで約400回転/分混合された。混合し続ける一方で、以下が順に追加された:114グラムのアルミン酸ナトリウム(31.5重量%固体)、2436グラムのラテックス(45.5重量%固体;商標名「RHOPLEX HA−8」で、Rohm & Haas(Philadelphia,PA)から得られる)、36グラムの消泡剤(商標名「FOAMASTER II」で、Henkel(Germany)、440グラムのアルミン酸サルフェート(50重量%固体)。10.3kgの非膨張性バーミキュライト(Cometals Inc.から)がその後、スラリーに追加されて、更に189リットル(50ガロン)の水が追加された。
第2の非膨張性シリンダーが、実施例3に記載されるように、成形された。その大きな端部上における12.3cmの外径、その小さな端部上における11.5cmの外径及び8.7cmの長さを有するプラスチックアセンブリ円錐が、その大きな端部が、12.3cm直径×12.7cm長さのセラミックモノリスの上になるように配置された。膨張性シリンダーは、アセンブリ円錐の小さな端部上に配置された。両手を使用して、膨張性シリンダーは、円錐上で摺動し、これに張力をかけ、これが両端から軸方向に等距離になるまで、セラミックモノリス上で伸張させた。円筒形の取り付け物品は、モノリス表面にきつく固定され、マットに包まれたモノリスが軸方向に6cmの高さから卓上に落とされたときに、モノリスに対して動かなかった。
Claims (9)
- 第1開放端部及び相対する第2開放端部を有する連続的な、継ぎ目のない管状の形状、
任意の方向に少なくとも2%、破断することなく変化し得る断面積、
1000kPaを超える圧縮力を採用することなく、最大60%(60%を含む)まで圧縮することができる壁部厚さ、
外側表面、
少なくともその一部が湾曲している内側表面、
中央長手方向軸、
及び該中央長手方向軸に沿って均一な内部断面積、
を有する、取り付け物品であって、前記取り付け物品は無機繊維を含む、取り付け物品。 - その外側表面を形成する一層と、その内側表面を形成する別の層とを含む、請求項1に記載の取り付け物品。
- 各層が異なる、請求項2に記載の取り付け物品。
- 請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の取り付け物品と、前記取り付け物品の前記内側表面と摩擦接触する外側表面を有する汚染防止要素と、を備え、
前記取り付け物品が伸長された状態にあり、前記取り付け物品の前記内側表面が張力下にある、物品。 - 外側表面を有する汚染防止要素と、
請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の取り付け物品と、
前記取り付け物品の前記外側表面を覆う収縮性高分子フィルムと、を備え、
前記収縮性高分子フィルムは、前記取り付け物品の前記外側表面を圧力下におくと共に、前記取り付け物品の前記外側表面上に圧縮力を提供することで、前記取り付け物品の前記内側表面が前記汚染防止要素の前記外側表面に摩擦接触するように、収縮する、物品。 - 前記フィルムが管の形状である、請求項5に記載の物品。
- ケーシング内にある、請求項4〜6の何れか一項に記載の物品を含む、汚染防止装置。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の取り付け物品を用意する工程と、
汚染防止要素を前記取り付け物品内に配置する工程と、
熱収縮性高分子フィルムを前記取り付け物品の前記外側表面上に適用する工程と、
前記フィルムが前記取り付け物品の前記外側表面の周囲で収縮するように前記熱収縮性高分子フィルムを加熱する工程と、を含む、方法。 - 内側周辺部を有する内側表面を有する、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の取り付け物品を用意する工程と、
外側周辺部を有する外側表面を有する汚染防止要素を用意する工程であって、前記取り付け物品の前記内側周辺部が、前記汚染防止要素の前記外側周辺部よりも小さい、該工程と、
前記取り付け物品の前記内側表面が張力下にあり、前記汚染防止要素の前記外側表面が前記取り付け物品の前記内側表面と摩擦接触するように、円錐形の拡張する楔を使用して前記汚染防止要素の周囲の少なくとも一部に前記取り付け物品を配置する工程とを含む、方法。
