Claims (25)
- 指向性液滴流を発生させる装置であって、該装置は、
ハウジングと、
該ハウジング内部に一定体積の流体を収容するように配置された貯留部と、
該貯留部と流体連通し、前記流体の指向性液滴流を発生させるように構成されたエジェクタ機構であって、該エジェクタ機構が、ジェネレータプレート及び圧電アクチュエータを備えている前記エジェクタ機構と、を備え、
前記ジェネレータプレートには、流体対向面と、液滴吐出面と、これらの面の間に、前記ジェネレータプレートの厚さを貫通して形成された複数の孔と、が含まれ、
前記圧電アクチュエータが、前記流体の指向性液滴流を発生させる周波数で、前記ジェネレータプレートを直接又は間接的に振動させるように動作可能であり、
前記ジェネレータプレートの前記複数の開口が、前記液体が前記孔を通過するときに、前記流体を層流で供給する孔を構成することによって、指向性液滴流の発生時に、前記複数の開口を通って前記液滴吐出面から前記流体対向面に至る気流を低減させるように構成されている、
前記装置。 - 前記複数の孔のそれぞれの形状が、前記流体対向面から前記孔への緩やかな変化の傾斜を有するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記流体対向面から前記孔のそれぞれへの吸入部が、前記流体対向面から前記孔に緩やかな遷移を提供する溝付き吸入部を構成するように傾斜している、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記孔のそれぞれの前記溝付き吸入部が、円形形状の外部入口曲率半径を有する、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記液滴吐出面における前記開口の大きさに対する曲率半径の大きさとの比率が、前記液滴吐出面の前記開口が約40 μmよりも大きい場合、約2.5よりも大きいか、又は、前記液滴吐出面の前記開口が約40 μmよりも小さい場合、前記比率が約5よりも大きい、請求項4に記載の装置。
- それぞれの開口が、溝付き吸入部と、前記液滴吐出面まで延びるチャネルとを構成し、前記チャネルが、流体が前記吐出面に到達する前に、流体の層流を達成するように、十分な長さで構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記エジェクタ機構が、前記ジェネレータプレート及び前記圧電アクチュエータに連結されたエジェクタプレートを更に備え、前記圧電アクチュエータが、指向性液滴流を発生させる周波数で、前記エジェクタプレート、そして前記ジェネレータプレートを振動させるように動作可能である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記エジェクタプレートが、前記ジェネレータプレートと並んで配置された中央開口領域を有し、前記圧電アクチュエータが、前記ジェネレータプレートの前記複数の開口を閉塞しないように、前記エジェクタプレートの周辺領域に連結されている、請求項7に記載の装置。
- 前記ジェネレータプレートの前記複数の開口が、前記ジェネレータプレートの中央領域に配置され、該中央領域が、前記圧電アクチュエータに覆われず、前記エジェクタプレートの前記中央開口領域と並んで配置されている、請求項8に記載の装置。
- 前記ジェネレータプレートの大きさが、前記エジェクタプレートよりも小さく、前記ジェネレータプレートの大きさが、前記中央領域によって占有された領域、及び前記複数の開口の配置によって、少なくとも部分的に決定される、請求項8に記載の装置。
- 前記エジェクタ機構が、指向性液滴流を吐出し、吐出される液滴の質量の少なくとも約75%が標的に堆積するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記エジェクタ機構が、20〜400ミクロンの範囲の平均吐出液滴径を有した液滴流を吐出するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記エジェクタ機構が、0.5 m/s〜10 m/sの範囲の平均初期吐出速度を有した液滴流を吐出するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 流体エジェクタアセンブリから流体を吐出する前に、前記流体の層流を達成するように流体エジェクタアセンブリを構成することを含む、作動時に流体エジェクタアセンブリへの空気吸入を低減する方法。
- 前記流体エジェクタアセンブリには、流体対向面と、液滴吐出面と、これらの面の間に、その厚さを貫通して形成された複数の孔とを有する液滴ジェネレータプレートが含まれ、前記方法が、前記流体対向面におけるそれぞれの孔の入口に、前記流体対向面から前記孔への緩やかな遷移を提供する溝付き吸入部を構成する傾斜を設けることを含む、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記複数の開口の入口のそれぞれの傾斜が、前記流体対向面から前記液滴吐出面に至る円形形状の外部入口曲率半径を定義している、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 前記流体エジェクタアセンブリには、流体対向面と、液滴吐出面と、これらの面の間に、その厚さを貫通して形成された複数の孔とを有する液滴ジェネレータプレートが含まれ、前記方法が、開口を構成するのに十分な厚さによって構成された液滴ジェネレータプレートに、流体が前記液滴吐出面に到達するまでに流体の層流を達成するのに十分なチャネル長を設けることを含む、請求項14に記載の方法。

- 前記チャネル長が約125 μmである、請求項18に記載の方法。
