HLB値は10〜20であるが、アルキル鎖長が10〜24の範囲である直鎖状のPOEアルキルエーテルやPOE・POPアルキルエーテルと構造が異なる界面活性剤を用いた比較例8〜10では製造直後は僅かなパール光沢が見られたものもあるが、保存中にパール光沢が消失又は分離した。
親水性2価アルコールを配合しない比較例11では製造直後のパール光沢も少なく、保存中にパール光沢が消失した。比較例12は偏光板観察で光学異方性を示しラメラ構造を有しているが、パール光沢を示さなかった。
