Description

本願は、ビークル用の断熱システムに関し、具体的には、硬化ハイブリッド絶縁非酸化物（ＲＨＩＮＯ）断熱システムと、例えば高速打撃兵器等の高速ビークル用硬化ハイブリッド絶縁非酸化物（ＲＨＩＮＯ）断熱システムを製造するための非酸化物セラミック複合材料を生成する方法を対象とする。
高速ビークル用の典型的な断熱システムには、幾つかの材料層が含まれる。材料層は、外層と、高速ビークルの基礎構造の表面に順応する内層との間に挟まれた絶縁層を含みうる。既知の断熱システムの一例として、絶縁層は、例えば比較的低密度の繊維状セラミック材料等の比較的剛性の材料を含む。外層は、例えばセラミックマトリックス複合材料等の、比較的高い温度耐性と比較的高い構造耐久性を有する実質的に剛性で比較的薄い部材を含む。内層は、比較的低いせん断剛性又は比較的低い引張剛性を有する弾性的に圧縮可能な材料を含む。内層は、外層がビークルの基礎構造の上にあるときに、ビークルの基礎構造に対して圧縮されながら予め組み込まれている。例えば高速打撃兵器等の高速ビークル用の改善された断熱システムを提供することが望ましい。
一態様では、ビークルの基礎構造用の断熱システムが提供される。断熱システムは、ビークルの基礎構造を保護するための外層を含む。断熱システムは更に、ビークルの基礎構造に順応するための内層を含む。断熱システムはまた、内層と外層との間に挟まれた絶縁層も含む。絶縁層は、接着性を高めるために外層の内面を覆う高密度化部分を有する多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料を含む。

本開示は、硬化ハイブリッド絶縁非酸化物（ＲＨＩＮＯ）断熱システム、及び硬化ハイブリッド絶縁非酸化物（ＲＨＩＮＯ）断熱システムを製造するための非酸化物セラミック複合材料を生成する方法を対象とする。断熱システムの特定の構成、及び断熱システムが実行される産業は変化し得る。以下の開示は、様々な実施形態の種々の特徴を実行するための数々の実施形態又は実施例を提供するものであることを理解すべきである。本開示を簡略化するために、構成要素及び配置構成の具体例が説明される。これらは単なる例であり、限定するものではない。
例として、以下の開示内容は、例えば高速打撃兵器等の高速ビークルを保護するためのＲＨＩＮＯ断熱システムを説明したものである。ＲＨＩＮＯ断熱システムは、軍事及び航空宇宙の規制に従って断熱システムを製造するために、相手先商標製造会社（ＯＥＭ）によって実行されうる。
例示の実施形態に従って構成されたＲＨＩＮＯ断熱システムによって包含された例示の高速ビークル１００を示す分解斜視図である図１を参照する。図１の分解斜視図に、区分のみにおける幾つかのパーツを示す。高速ビークル１００は、後方円錐部分１０４と機首先端１０６との間に配置された前方円錐部分１０２を含む。
機首先端１０６は、タングステン材料を含みうる。後方円錐部分１０４は、チタニウム材料を含みうるリブ基礎構造１０８を有する。チタニウムのリブ基礎構造１０８は、これもまたチタニウム材料を含みうるバルクヘッド１１０の前方に配置される。後方円錐部分１０４は、約３６インチ（９１．４４センチメートル）の長さを有し、前方円錐部分１０２は、約１６インチ（４０．６４センチメートル）の長さを有する。断熱システム２００は、前方円錐部分１０２と後方円錐部分１０４に配置される。

図１と２に示す例示の実施形態では、外層２１０は、ビークルの基礎構造を保護するための、炭素−繊維強化炭化ケイ素（Ｃ−ＳｉＣ）の薄い剛性層を含む。Ｃ−ＳｉＣの薄層２１０は、約０．０４インチ（０．１０２センチメートル）と約０．０８インチ（０．２０３センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する。Ｃ−ＳｉＣの薄層２１０は、華氏温度当たりの百万分の１部が約１．６５（ｐｐｍ／°Ｆ）の熱膨張係数を有する。ある実施形態では、外層２１０は、例えば炭素−炭化ケイ素、炭化ケイ素−炭化ケイ素、炭素−炭化ハフニウム、炭素−ホウ化ハフニウム、炭素−窒化ケイ素等の、約０．０４インチ（０．１０２センチメートル）と約０．０８インチ（０．２０３センチメートル）との間の厚さを有するセラミック繊維強化非酸化物セラミックマトリックス複合材料の薄層を含む。
内層２２０の例は、ビークルの基礎構造１０８に順応するためのシリコンの順応層２２２を含む。シリコンの順応層２２２は、絶縁層２３０の内面２３４を覆う室温の加硫（ＲＴＶ）シリコン２２４で接合される。シリコンの順応層２２２は、約０．２５インチ（０．６３５センチメートル）の厚さを有する。ＲＴＶシリコン２２４は、約０．０１インチ（０．０２５センチメートル）の厚さを有する。ある実施形態では、内層２２０は、例えば絶縁層２３０の内面を覆う、シリコン又は歪分離パッド等の順応材料の層を含む。ある実施形態では、順応材料の層は、絶縁層２３０に接着接合される。
絶縁層２３０は、約１インチ（２．５４センチメートル）の厚さを有する。絶縁層２３０の多孔性低密度セラミック材料は剛性であり、１立方フィート当たり約１２ポンド（ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３）と２５ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する。絶縁層２３０は、約１．５８ｐｐｍ／°Ｆの熱膨張係数を有する。高密度化部分２３２は、約０．１０インチ（０．２５４センチメートル）と約０．２０インチ（０．５０８センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する。
外層２１０、内層２２０、及び絶縁層２３０の組み合わせが協働することにより、ビークルの基礎構造をその最大温度性能以下に維持しながら、断熱システム２００を劣化させることなく断熱システム２００が３０００°Ｆ以上の温度に耐えることが可能になる。
以下の実施例は、一実施形態による断熱システム２００を製造するための非酸化物セラミック複合材料を生成する方法を示すものである。この例示的な方法は、説明を意図したものであり、本発明の範囲を限定するものでは全くない。
図１及び図２に示す例示のＲＨＩＮＯ断熱システム２００を製造するための例示の非酸化物セラミック複合材料を生成する例示的な方法を示すフロー図３００である図３を参照する。ブロック３０２において、多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層を所望のサイズと形状（すなわち最終的なサイズ及び形状）に形成（例えば機械加工）する。例示の多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料は、カリフォルニア州ハンティントンビーチに位置するボーイング社からパーツ番号ＨＢＭＳ−３６−０２１−０１で販売されている。例えば炭素又は炭化ケイ素発泡体等の、使用可能な他の多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料も可能である。プロセスは次にブロック３０４へと進む。
ブロック３０４において、多層高密度層部分を形成するために、多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の層部分２３２を高密度化する。ある実施形態では、層部分２３２は、気孔を閉じるために、セラミックスラリーの湿潤処理及び後硬化を行った後に、セラミック樹脂の予備湿潤処理と熱分解を行うことにより高密度化され、これによって多層高密度化層部分が形成される。ある実施形態では、構造多孔性を除去して高密度化層部分２３２を形成するために、多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料を繰り返し熱分解させ、繰り返し高分子樹脂でコーティングする。ある実施形態では、高密度化層部分２３２は、約２４ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３と５０ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する。
次に、ブロック３０６において、ブロック３０４からの高密度化層部分２３２は、例えばＣ−ＳｉＣ２１０等の非酸化物セラミック複合材料の薄層に混合抽出される。更に具体的には、完全に高密度化されたＣ−ＳｉＣ２１０の薄層を形成するために、Ｃ−ＳｉＣ２１０の薄層を高密度化層部分２３２に層内処理し、Ｃ−ＳｉＣ２１０の薄層に高分子樹脂を繰り返し浸透させ、また繰り返し熱分解させることによって、高密度化層部分２３２がＣ−ＳｉＣ２１０の薄層に混合抽出される。また、ブロック３０８に示すように、多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の内面は、ＲＴＶシリコン２２４で接合された順応材料２２２の層で覆われている。その後プロセスは終了する。
上述した例示の方法にしたがって作製された非酸化物セラミック複合材料は、例えば図１及び２に示す例示の断熱システム２００等のいずれかの断熱システムを製造するのに好適である。特に、生成された非酸化物セラミック複合材料を使用して、高速ビークルの用途向けの断熱システムを製造することができる。
一体型ハイブリッド材料断熱システムが、例えば高速打撃兵器等の高速ビークル用に提供されることは明らかである。断熱システムは、低温ビークルの基礎構造又は高温ビークルの基礎構造に順応しうる。順応材料の層は、断熱システムがビークルの基礎構造の上に「浮かぶ」ように、多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層と非酸化物セラミック複合材料の薄層とを部分的に分離させる。また、例えばＣ−ＳｉＣ等の非酸化物セラミック複合材料の薄層の熱膨張係数（すなわち上記の例示の実施形態における約１．６５ｐｐｍ／°Ｆ）と、絶縁層の熱膨張係数（すなわち上記の例示の実施形態における約１．５８ｐｐｍ／°Ｆ）は厳密に一致する。これにより、高温において低いストレスで絶縁層とＣ−ＳｉＣの薄層とが良好に接合される。
この結果、断熱がビークルの基礎構造の上で浮かんでいるときに、断熱システムを劣化させることなく、３０００°Ｆの温度で動作する能力を有する（従来の断熱システムの現在の状態と比べて）重量効率の良い断熱システムが得られる。また結果的に、非酸化物セラミックマトリックス複合材料のサンドイッチ構成を含む断熱システムと比べて比較的簡単に製造できる断熱システムも得られる。
また、一体型ハイブリッド材料断熱システムにより、厚い積層板が要らなくなることも明らかである。例えば、Ｃ−ＳｉＣの薄層は、下層の低密度絶縁層とビークルの基礎構造によって安定化される。これにより、空力加熱負荷、音響負荷、又は機械的負荷下で座屈を防止するために追加の補強を必要としない半構造的シェルが得られる。更に、順応層により、ビークルの基礎構造と、低密度絶縁材料の半構造的シェルと、Ｃ−ＳｉＣの薄層との間の負荷経路が分断される。この結果、高温性能及び低重量を有するだけでなく、優れた絶縁特性、高い強度、及び耐損傷性も有する半構造的シェルが得られる。
以上の記述は、軍事及び航空宇宙の規制に沿った、例示的な非酸化物セラミック複合材料、及びＯＥＭ用の非酸化物セラミック複合材料を生成する例示的な方法を説明しているが、例示的な非酸化物セラミック複合材料及び当該方法は、適用可能な産業規準に従って、任意の産業において実施可能であると考えられる。
更に、本開示は以下の条項による実施形態を含む。
条項１．ビークルの基礎構造用の断熱システムであって、
ビークルの基礎構造を保護するための外層と、
ビークルの基礎構造に順応するための内層と、
外層と内層との間に挟まれた絶縁層であって、接着性を高めるために、外層の内面を覆う高密度化部分を有する多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料を含む、絶縁層と
を含む断熱システム。
条項２．多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の高密度化部分が、約０．１０インチ（０．２５４センチメートル）と約０．２０インチ（０．５０８センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する、条項１に記載の断熱システム。
条項３．外層は、例えば炭素−炭化ケイ素、炭化ケイ素−炭化ケイ素、炭素−炭化ハフニウム、炭素−ホウ化ハフニウム、炭素−窒化ケイ素等の、約０．０４インチ（０．１０２センチメートル）と約０．０８インチ（０．２０３センチメートル）との間の厚さを有するセラミック繊維強化非酸化物セラミックマトリックス複合材料の薄層を含む、条項１に記載の断熱システム。
条項４．外層は、約１．６５ｐｐｍ／°Ｆの熱膨張係数を有する、条項１に記載の断熱システム。
条項５．絶縁層は、約１．５８ｐｐｍ／°Ｆの熱膨張係数を有する、条項４に記載の断熱システム。
条項６．（ｉ）内層は、例えば絶縁層の内面を覆う、シリコン又は歪分離パッド等の順応材料の層を含み、（ｉｉ）外層、内層、及び絶縁層の組み合わせが協働することにより、ビークルの基礎構造をその最大温度性能以下に維持しながら、断熱システムを劣化させることなく断熱システムが３０００°Ｆ以上の温度に耐えることが可能になる、条項５に記載の断熱システム。
条項７．順応材料の層は絶縁層に接着接合されている、条項６に記載の断熱システム。
条項８．ビークルの基礎構造用の断熱システムであって、
ビークルの基礎構造を保護するための非酸化物セラミック複合材料の薄層を含む外側剛性層と、
ビークルの基礎構造に順応する内側順応層と、
内層と外層との間に挟まれた剛性セラミック絶縁層であって、約１２ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３と２５ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する多孔性低密度セラミック材料を含む、剛性セラミック絶縁層と
を含む断熱システム。
条項９．非酸化物セラミック複合材料の薄層は、約１．６５ｐｐｍ／°Ｆの熱膨張係数を有する炭素−繊維強化炭化ケイ素層を含む、条項８に記載の断熱システム。
条項１０．剛性セラミック絶縁層が、約１．５８ｐｐｍ／°Ｆの熱膨張係数を有する、条項９に記載の断熱システム。
条項１１．（ｉ）多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料は、炭素−繊維強化炭化ケイ素層との接着性を高めるために、炭素−繊維強化炭化ケイ素層の内面を覆う高密度化部分を含み、（ｉｉ）外層、内層、及び絶縁層の組み合わせは協働して、ビークルの基礎構造をその最大温度性能以下に維持しながら、断熱システムを劣化させることなく断熱システムが３０００°Ｆ以上の温度に耐えることが可能になる、条項１０に記載の断熱システム。
条項１２．多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の高密度化部分が、約０．１０インチ（０．２５４センチメートル）と約０．２０インチ（０．５０８センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する、条項１１に記載の断熱システム。
条項１３．内側順応層が、室温の加硫（ＲＴＶ）シリコンで接合され、絶縁層の内面を覆う、条項１２に記載の断熱システム。
条項１４．（ｉ）多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料は、炭素−繊維強化炭化ケイ素層との接着性を高めるために、炭素−繊維強化炭化ケイ素層の内面を覆う高密度化部分を含み、（ｉｉ）外層、内層、及び絶縁層の組み合わせは協働して、ビークルの基礎構造をその最大温度性能以下に維持しながら、断熱システムを劣化させることなく断熱システムが３０００°Ｆ以上の温度に耐えることが可能になる、条項８に記載の断熱システム。
条項１５．多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の高密度化部分が、約０．１０インチ（０．２５４センチメートル）と約０．２０インチ（０．５０８センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する、条項１４に記載の断熱システム。
条項１６．炭素−繊維強化炭化ケイ素層が、約０．０４インチ（０．１０２センチメートル）と約０．０８インチ（０．２０３センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する、条項１５に記載の断熱システム。
条項１７．ビークルの基礎構造用の硬化ハイブリッド絶縁非酸化物断熱システムを製造するための非酸化物セラミック複合材料を生成する方法であって、
約１２ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３と２５ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層を所望のサイズと形状に形成することと、
約２４ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３と５０ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する多層高密度化層を形成するために、多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の層部分を高密度化することと、
多層高密度化層部分を、非酸化物セラミック複合材料の薄層に混合抽出することと、
多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の内面を順応材料の層で覆うことと
を含む方法。
条項１８．多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の層部分を高密度化することは、気孔を閉じるために、層部分のセラミックスラリーの湿潤処理及び後硬化を行った後に、次にセラミック樹脂の予備湿潤処理と熱分解を行い、これによって多層高密度化層部分を形成することを含む、条項１７に記載の方法。
条項１９．多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の層部分を高密度化することは、約０．１０インチ（０．２５４センチメートル）と約０．２０インチ（０．５０８センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する多層高密度化層部分を形成するために層部分を高密度化することを含む、条項１７に記載の方法。
条項２０．多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の内面を順応材料の層で覆うことは、多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層を室温の加硫（ＲＴＶ）シリコンで接合されたシリコンの順応層で覆うことを含む、条項１７に記載の方法。
開示の実施形態の様々な態様が示され、説明されてきたが、当業者であれば、本明細書を読むことで、変更例を想起するであろう。本願は、こうした変更例を含み、特許請求の範囲によってのみ限定される。

Claims (13)

  1. ビークルの基礎構造（１０８）用の断熱システム（２００）であって、
    前記ビークルの基礎構造（１０８）を保護するための外層（２１０）と、
    前記ビークルの基礎構造（１０８）に順応するための内層（２２０）と、
    前記外層（２１０）と前記内層（２２０）との間に挟まれた絶縁層（２３０）であって、接着性を高めるために、前記外層（２１０）の内面（２１２）を覆う高密度化部分（２３２）を有する多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料を含む、絶縁層（２３０）と
    を含む断熱システム（２００）。
  2. 前記多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の前記高密度化部分（２３２）が、約０．１０インチ（０．２５４センチメートル）と約０．２０インチ（０．５０８センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する、請求項１に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  3. 前記外層（２１０）は、例えば炭素−炭化ケイ素、炭化ケイ素−炭化ケイ素、炭素−炭化ハフニウム、炭素−ホウ化ハフニウム、炭素−窒化ケイ素等の、約０．０４インチ（０．１０２センチメートル）と約０．０８インチ（０．２０３センチメートル）との間の厚さを有するセラミック繊維強化非酸化物セラミックマトリックス複合材料の薄層を含む、請求項１又は２に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  4. 前記外層（２１０）は、約１．６５ｐｐｍ／°Ｆの熱膨張係数を有する、請求項１から３のいずれか一項に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  5. 前記絶縁層（２３０）は、約１．５８ｐｐｍ／°Ｆの熱膨張係数を有する、請求項４に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  6. （ｉ）前記内層（２２０）は、例えば前記絶縁層（２３０）の内面（２３４）を覆う、シリコン又は歪分離パッド等の順応材料の層（２２２）を含み、（ｉｉ）前記外層（２１０）、前記内層（２２０）、及び前記絶縁層（２３０）の組み合わせが協働することにより、前記ビークルの基礎構造をその最大温度性能以下に維持しながら、前記断熱システム（２００）を劣化させることなく前記断熱システム（２００）が３０００°Ｆ以上の温度に耐えることが可能になる、請求項１から５のいずれか一項に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  7. 前記順応材料の層（２２２）は前記絶縁層（２３０）に接着接合されている、請求項６に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  8. 前記絶縁層（２３０）は、約１２ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３と２５ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する多孔性低密度セラミック材料を含む、請求項１から７のいずれか一項に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  9. 前記順応材料の層（２２２）が、室温の加硫（ＲＴＶ）シリコン（２２４）で接合され、前記絶縁層（２３０）の内面を覆う、請求項６に記載の断熱システム（２００）。
  10. ビークルの基礎構造（１０８）用の硬化ハイブリッド絶縁非酸化物断熱システム（２００）を製造するための非酸化物セラミック複合材料を生成する方法であって、
    約１２ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３と２５ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層を所望のサイズと形状に形成することと、
    約２４ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３と５０ｌｂｓ／ｆｔ３との間の密度を有する多層高密度化層部分を形成するために、前記多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の層部分を高密度化することと、
    前記多層高密度化層部分を、非酸化物セラミック複合材料の薄層に混合抽出することと、
    前記多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の内面（２３４）を順応材料の層（２２２）で覆うことと
    を含む方法。
  11. 前記多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の層部分を高密度化することは、気孔を閉じるために、前記層部分のセラミックスラリーの湿潤処理及び後硬化を行った後に、セラミック樹脂の予備湿潤処理と熱分解を行い、これによって前記多層高密度化層部分を形成することを含む、請求項１０に記載の方法。
  12. 前記多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の層部分を高密度化することは、約０．１０インチ（０．２５４センチメートル）と約０．２０インチ（０．５０８センチメートル）との間の厚さを有する前記多層高密度化層部分を形成するために前記層部分を高密度化することを含む、請求項１０又は１１に記載の方法。
  13. 前記多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層の内面（２３４）を順応材料の層（２２２）で覆うことは、前記多孔性低密度セラミック絶縁材料の層を室温の加硫（ＲＴＶ）シリコン（２２４）で接合されたシリコンの順応層で覆うことを含む、請求項１０から１２のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
