Description
多くの電圧レベルと連結レベルを柔軟に取り扱えるパワーコネクタを備えるのが望ましい。
上記及びその他の目的は、ウェーハ型パワーコネクタで実現できる。本コネクタは、2つの異なる型式のウェーハから組み立てられ、絶縁性キャップを備えている。本コネクタは、閉鎖型接点を有するバックプレーンパワーモジュールと連結する。
個々の接点は、タイバー350によって1つに保持されている。タイバーが切り離されると、電気的に独立した接点が作り出される。タイバーは、ハウジング273が成形された後で切り離されるのが望ましい。接点ブランク300は、更に、キャリアストリップ352に保持されている。これらのキャリアストリップも、成形の後で必要がなくなったら切断される。好適な実施形態では、キャリアストリップには、接点を位置決めするのに用いられる穴が形成されており、必要がなくなるまで切断されない。
上記パワーコネクタには幾つかの利点がある。先ず、簡単に製造できる。第2に、信号接続システムと互換性がある。信号コネクタと同じスチフナに取り付けることができる。更に、僅かなスペースしか必要としない。図示の実施形態では、信号接点の3つのコラム分のスペースよりも小さい。そのような小さなスペースに8つの別の電力接点を嵌め込むことができるのは、非常に有用である。
更に、電力接点の中間部分301...304は、概ね一つの面内にあり、この面は、信号接点の面に並行となっていることに注目して頂きたい。その結果、電力導線は、概ね信号接点と並んで、それと並行に走ることになる。この構成によって、電流をドータカードへ流したり止めたりすることによって形成される導電性ループ内のインダクタンスが最小となり、これは高速相互接続システムにとって非常に望ましい。
更なる変形例として、接点の形状を変えることもできる。例えば、好適な実施形態では、ドータカードコネクタの連結接点部分262及び272は、バックプレーンコネクタの連結接点に対してばね力を働かせるため、ビームとして示している。コネクタの連結接点は、単なる平面ブレードである。ドータカードの接点をブレードにして、コネクタのバックプレーン部分の連結接点に、ばね力を作り出すビームを形成することもできる。
Claims (13)
- 相互連結可能な第1部片と第2部片を有するパワーコネクタ(200)において、
前記第1部片は、
a)中央キャビティ(220)を有する絶縁性ハウジング(210)と、
b)前記中央キャビティ(220)の周辺部に配置されている複数のブレード(214)と、を備えており、
前記第2コネクタ部片は、
a)中を通って走る電力接点(301−304)を有する第1ウェーハ(260)であって、前記ウェーハ(260)はフロントエッジを有しており、前記電力接点は、前記ウェーハの前記フロントエッジから伸張する連結部分(262)を有している第1ウェーハと、
b)前記第1ウェーハ(262)に取り付けられている、中を通って走る電力接点(301−304)を有する第2ウェーハ(270)であって、前記第2ウェーハ(270)はフロントエッジを有しており、前記電力接点は、前記ウェーハの前記フロントエッジから伸張する連結部分(272)を有している第2ウェーハと、
c)前記第1ウェーハ(260)と前記第2ウェーハ(270)の電力接点の連結部分(262、272)の間に配置されている絶縁壁(256)を有している、前記第1ウェーハ(260)及び第2ウェーハ(270)に取り付けられているキャップ(250)と、を備えており、
前記第1及び第2コネクタ部片が連結されるときに、前記第2コネクタ部片の前記電力接点は、前記第1コネクタ部片のブレードと整列する、パワーコネクタ(200)。 - 前記第1部片のハウジング(210)は、中にチャネル(218)が形成されている相対する側壁を有しており、前記側壁の前記チャネル内に前記ブレードが配置されている、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第2コネクタ部片の電力接点は、二重ビーム接点(262、272)を備えている、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第1ウェーハ(260)及び前記第2ウェーハ(270)には取り付け造形(278)が設けられており、それによって前記第1ウェーハを前記第2ウェーハに取り付けるようになっている、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第2コネクタ部片の電力接点には造形(269)が設けられており、前記造形は、前記キャップ(250)と係合して前記キャップを前記第1及び第2ウェーハに取り付けるようになっている、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第2コネクタ部片の電力接点(301−304)は、直角に曲がっている、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記キャップ(250)は、更に、前記第1及び第2ウェーハそれぞれの隣接する電力接点の間に複数の絶縁壁(258)を有している、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記キャップ(250)はフロントエッジを有していて、前記フロントエッジに沿って複数のリップ(259)が設けられており、前記電力接点の連結部分(262、272)の先端は、それぞれ、前記リップの下に配置されている、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第1部片のハウジング(210)は、中にチャネル(218)が形成されている相対する側壁を有しており、前記側壁の前記チャネル内に前記ブレードが配置されている、請求項8に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第2コネクタ部片の電力接点には造形(269)が設けられており、前記造形は、前記キャップ(250)と係合して前記キャップを前記第1及び第2ウェーハに取り付けるようになっている、請求項9に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第2コネクタ部片は、更に、複数の信号ウェーハ(136)を備えている、請求項1に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記第2コネクタ部片は、更に、所定のピッチで間隔を空けて設けられているウェーハ取付ポイント(162a−c)を有している支持部材(142)を備えており、前記信号ウェーハと前記第1及び第2ウェーハは、前記取付ポイントに取り付けられている、請求項11に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
- 前記信号ウェーハ(136)は、それぞれ複数の接点テイルの対(146)を有する差分信号ウェーハを含んでおり、前記接点テイルの間の間隔は第1距離であり、異なる対の接点の間の間隔は第2のより大きな距離であり、前記第1及び第2ウェーハは、前記差分信号ウェーハの前記接点テイル(146)と整列している複数の接点テイル(312A、312B)を含んでいる、請求項11に記載のパワーコネクタ(200)。
