Description
図1に示す粗形ハニカム構造体20(粗加工ハニカム構造体25)を研削して、ハニカム構造体30を得る研削加工において、直径が340mmの炭素鋼、ステンレス製のハブの円周部分の表面に、メタルボンド製のボンド材中に、その粒度が#100、集中度が100であるとともに、その表面にTiが8〜50μmの厚さで被覆されてなるダイヤモンド砥粒が分散、固定された砥石層が5mmの厚さで配設された、外径寸法が350mmのホイール研削部材を120m/sの周速で使用して加工を行った(表5参照)。
実施例1において、研削部材として、ダイヤモンド砥粒の集中度、粒度、砥石周速、ダイヤコーティングの有無を表1〜5に示すように変えたものを用いて、加工を行ったこと以外は実施例1と同様にした。
比較例6の仕様の研削部材を使用したときの、研削部材が使用不可能になるまでのハニカム構造体の加工量(加工可能量)を100として、実施例1〜7及び比較例1〜25で得られた研削部材の性能(研削可能量)を評価し、その結果を表6に示す。
Claims (5)
- 所定形状のボンド材中にダイヤモンド砥粒が含有、固定された砥石層を備えた研削部材を用いて、多孔質のセラミックスからなる粗形ハニカム構造体の外周を加工して、所定形状のハニカム構造体を得るハニカム構造体の製造方法であって、
前記研削部材として、前記ダイヤモンド砥粒の、粒度が40〜150であり、集中度が80以上であるとともに、前記ダイヤモンド砥粒の表面に、Ti、Ni、及びCrからなる群から選ばれる少なくとも一種が被覆されてなるものを用いてなり、
前記ボンド材がメタルボンドであることを特徴とするハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記粗形ハニカム構造体の外周を、回転速度(周速)が30〜150m/secの高速乾式で加工する請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
- フィルタとして機能する多孔質のセラミックス隔壁により仕切られた流体の流路となる複数のセルがその中心軸方向に並設されたハニカムセグメントを得、得られた前記ハニカムセグメントの複数を一体化して前記粗形ハニカム構造体を得、得られた前記粗形ハニカム構造体の外周を加工して所定形状の前記ハニカム構造体を得る請求項1又は2に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
- 前記粗形ハニカム構造体の外周の加工を、前記粗形ハニカム構造体をその中心軸を中心として回転させ、前記粗形ハニカム構造体の外周面側から前記研削部材を押し当てることによって行う請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
- 前記粗形ハニカム構造体の外周を、その中心軸に垂直な平面で切断した断面形状が、円形、長円形、楕円形、三角形、多角形又はこれらの形状の一部を変形させた形状となるように加工する請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
