Description
(優先権の主張)
本願は、2004年10月20日付けの米国仮特許出願第60/620,900号の利益を要求するものでもある。
本発明のその他の特徴並びに利点は、例示目的で本発明の特徴を記載する以下の詳細な説明から明らかとなろう。
別途明確に指示のない限り、単数形は、複数形の意味を包含する。従って、例えば、「顔料」という場合、1つ又は複数の顔料を意味する。
用語「自己分散型顔料」には、前述のように、ポリマー又は小分子で修飾された顔料が含まれる。従って、「小分子分散型顔料」及び「ポリマー分散型顔料」は、両方とも、「自己分散型顔料」と考えられる。修飾し得且つ使用し得るベースとなる顔料には、例えば、ブラック、マゼンタ、シアン、又はイエローのような、任意の色のものを用いることができる。本発明では、任意のカラー顔料を使用することができ、また、任意のカラー顔料は本発明の範囲内であるが、本発明に固有の利点を説明する際には、主としてブラック顔料に関して説明する。
本発明のインクジェットインク組成物は、典型的に、水、共溶媒、界面活性剤、緩衝剤、殺生物剤、金属イオン封止剤、粘度修正剤、湿潤剤、バインダー、及び/又はその他の既知の添加剤から構成し得る水性調合物、即ち液体ビヒクルを用いて調製される。典型的に、本発明のインクジェットインク組成物は、約0.8cps〜約15cps(一実施形態では、約0.8cps〜約8cpsとし得る)の粘度を有する。本発明の一態様では、液体ビヒクルは、インクジェットインク組成物の約70wt%〜約99wt%を構成することができる。
以下の実施例において、現在最もよく知られている本発明の実施形態を説明する。しかしながら、以下の実施例は、本発明の原理の応用についての単なる例示、説明に過ぎないことを理解されたい。当業者であれば、本発明の趣旨及び範囲から逸脱することなく、多数の修正及び代替の組成物、方法、並びにシステムを案出できよう。添付の特許請求の範囲は、前述の修正並びに代替の構成を網羅するものと意図している。従って、これまで特定のものに関して本発明を説明してきたが、以下の実施例は、本発明の最も実用的で且つ好ましい実施形態であると現在思われるものに関しさらに詳述するものである。
同じ液体ビヒクルと、6つの異なる顔料の組合せを用いて、6つのインクジェットインク(調合A〜F)を調製した。各インクジェットインクに用いた液体ビヒクル及びその他の(顔料以外の)固形物を、以下の表1に記載する。
相対的耐久性を評価するため、実施例1に従って調製した6つのインクジェットインク組成物に関して、湿潤スマッジ耐性について試験した。湿潤スマッジ試験の結果を、以下の表3に記載する。
同じ液体ビヒクルと、4つの異なる顔料の組合せとを用いて、4つのインクジェットインク(調合G〜J)を調製した。各インクジェットインクに用いた液体ビヒクルを、以下の表4に記載する。
実施例3に従って調製した4つのインクジェットインク組成物に関し、光学濃度及び乾燥時間について試験した。それらの試験結果を、以下の表6に記載する。
Claims (12)
- a)液体ビヒクルと、
b)0.5wt%〜10wt%の第1のポリマー分散型顔料と、
c)第2のポリマー分散型顔料及び小分子分散型顔料から成る群から選択される0.5wt%〜10wt%の自己分散型顔料と、
を含んで成り、前記第1及び第2のポリマー分散型顔料の前記ポリマーが、スチレン無水マレイン酸、ポリエチレンイミン/無水フタル酸、ポリエチレンイミン/フェニルコハク酸無水物、ポリエチレンイミン/無水コハク酸、ペンタエチレンヘキサミン、ポリエチレンイミン、及びそれらのコポリマーから成る群から選択される、インクジェットインク。 - 前記自己分散型顔料が、前記第2のポリマー分散型顔料である、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 前記自己分散型顔料が、前記小分子分散型顔料である、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 前記ポリマー分散型顔料が、アニオンポリマー分散型顔料である、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 前記ポリマー分散型顔料が、カチオンポリマー分散型顔料である、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 前記小分子分散型顔料が、スルホン酸分散型顔料、カルボン酸分散型顔料、及びイソフタル酸分散型顔料から成る群から選択される、請求項3に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 前記ポリマー分散型顔料が、スチレン無水マレイン酸分散型顔料である、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 請求項1〜7の何れか1項に記載のインクジェットインクを、媒体基材の上にインクジェットするステップを包含する、画像を印刷する方法。
- 前記媒体基材が、繊維状の普通紙基材である、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記第1及び第2のポリマー分散型顔料の前記ポリマーの分子量が4000Mw〜15000Mwである、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 前記第1及び第2のポリマー分散型顔料の前記ポリマーの酸価が100〜220である、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
- 前記顔料の平均粒径が30〜180nmである、請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
