本発明の範囲を制限するものではないが、ここに請求する本発明の諸実施形態のいくつかの概要を以下に記載する。要約した本発明の諸実施形態および/または本発明の他の諸実施形態のさらなる詳細は、以下の、発明を実施するための最良の形態の項で見ることができる。
本発明は、多種多様な形態で具現化可能であるが、本明細書では、本発明の特定の諸実施形態について詳細に説明する。この説明は、本発明の原理の例示であって、本発明をここに示す特定の諸実施形態だけに制限することを意図したものではない。
本願の発明のカテーテルの説明では、使用される諸図は、単に典型的なカテーテルの遠位端を示すにすぎない。本願のチップ設計を、いずれか従来のカテーテル構造に組み込んで使用できることを理解すべきである。また、諸図が、本発明のカテーテル設計を図式的に表現したものであり、実際の寸法を表すものと解釈すべきではないことも理解すべきである。
遠位チップ20は、レーザ溶接、接着接合、または熱収縮によって、内部シャフト12の遠位端22に固定される。接着接合は、広く知られている。熱接合の例は、米国特許出願第09/654987号に見ることができる。
その他の点では、2.5mmバルーン遠位ウエスト群と同一の構成であった。サンプル番号7〜14のバルーン遠位ウエスト長は、様々である。
2が、より軟質の遠位チップ20を受けるために細く研削される。遠位チップ20材料は、1実施形態では、軟質のPlexar(登録商標)、Pebax(登録商標)(55D〜72D)、またはGrilamid(商標)などのナイロンである。本発明のこの表現では、遠位チップ20は、遠位側が内部シャフト12とほぼ同一平面で終端するが、前述のように、遠位チップ20が内部シャフト12を越えて延びてもよいことを理解すべきである。加熱過程の間に、遠位チップ材料20を流れさせて遠位に引き延ばし、図2に示したように、傾斜したまたは細くなっていくチップを作り出すことができる。
図3〜4は、本発明の他の1態様を示す。ここに示したように、ガイド・ワイヤとの表面接触を低減し、かつ可撓性を高めるために、内部シャフト12の内層34に切れ目40または刻み目を付けることができる。この切れ目は、図3に示したような螺旋状の切れ目でもよく、または周囲にいくつか平行な切れ目を付けてもよい(図示せず)。隣接したリボン状部分は、図3に示したように接触していてもよく、または図4に示したように離されていてもよい。また、この切れ目または刻み目は、バルーン16の(1つもしくは複数の)ウエスト部分18に、部分的に、あるいは実質上ウエスト全体に沿って、付けることができる。
い場合に、バルーンを内部シャフトに連結することができ、また、バルーンが2.13MPa(309psi)を超える圧力下にあるときに該バルーン16と内部シャフト12との間の剥離に耐える、バルーン・カテーテルを作り出すことができる。
図13は、結合層50がバルーン・ウエスト18の近位端から近位に延びる1実施形態を示す。また、内部シャフト12は、結合層50の遠位端またはそれよりも手前で終端し、結合層50は、バルーン・ウエスト18の遠位端またはそれよりも手前で終端する。

以上のデバイスは、遠位バルーン接合をもたらすためにレーザ溶接法を使用して構築することができる。1例として、EMS/Hytrel(商標)チューブなど、結合層チューブを共押出する。次いで、EMS/Hytrel(商標)チューブに首部を設け、その
後、結合層スリーブを形成する長さに切断することができる。次いで、バルーン・アセンブリを提供し、次いで、結合層スリーブを位置決めする。次いで、該アセンブリを熱収縮層によって適所で保持する。次いで、該アセンブリをレーザ溶接して、完成アセンブリを形成する。
Claims (7)
- 近位部分と、遠位端で終端する遠位部分と、中を貫通する導管とを有するシャフトと、該シャフトの遠位部分の周囲に位置し、近位端と遠位端とを有する、管状をなす遠位チップ層とを備えるカテーテルであって、遠位チップ層の遠位端がシャフトの遠位端まで遠位方向に延び、該カテーテルは近位ウエストと遠位ウエストとの間に本体部分を有する医療用バルーンを更に備え、該遠位ウエストはシャフトの遠位部分に連結されると共に、遠位チップ層の近位端に隣接して位置するカテーテルにおいて、
前記シャフトが内層と、同内層の周囲に位置し、内層とは異なる材料からなる外層とからなり、内層が可撓性を高めるための螺旋状をなす切れ目を有し、
さらに、前記シャフトの遠位端は細く研削されて遠位チップ層を受けるための首部分を形成し、前記遠位ウェストを受けるために前記遠位チップ層の周囲を段状に盛り上げて形成したことを特徴とするカテーテル。 - 外層がポリアミドポリエーテルポリエステルブロック共重合体からなり、内層がポリエチレンからなる請求項1に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記螺旋状の切れ目によって螺旋状の空間が形成される請求項1又は2に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記遠位ウエストの遠位端が遠位チップ層の近位端に隣接する請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記遠位チップ層が遠位ウエストとシャフトとの間にある請求項1乃至4のいずれか1
項に記載のカテーテル。 - 前記遠位チップ層が結合層であり、遠位ウェストと、シャフトと、該結合層とが熱接合される請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載のカテーテル。
- 前記遠位ウエストと前記シャフトとが非相溶的に熱接合されている請求項6に記載のカテーテル。
