Description
Claims (20)
- 液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)システムであって、
a)LCDパネルと、
b)少なくとも1つの入光領域を有する少なくとも1つの導波路素子と、
c)第1の複数の発光ダイオードを有し、前記少なくとも1つの入光領域のうちの少なくとも第1の入光領域にある前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子内に光を放射するように配置された第1の発光源と、
d)第2の複数の発光ダイオードを有する第2の発光源と
を備え、
前記第2の発光源が、前記LCDパネル上に直下バックライトを放射するように配置され、
前記第1の発光源および前記第2の発光源は、前記液晶ディスプレイパネルの異なる領域を照明するように配置されているLCDシステム。 - 前記少なくとも1つの入光領域が、複数の入光領域を備え、
前記第2の発光源は、前記複数の入光領域のうちの少なくとも第2の入光領域にある前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子内に光を放射するように配置された
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記LCDパネルが可視面を有し、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子が透過面を有し、前記透過面が前記可視面とほぼ同じサイズである、請求項1または2に記載のLCDシステム。
- 前記第1の入光領域及び前記少なくとも第2の入光領域が、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の上部エッジ、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の下部エッジ、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の第1の側面エッジ、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の第2の側面エッジ、及び前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の背面から選択された前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子上の互いに異なる位置に配置された
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子は、複数の導波路素子を含み、
前記第1の発光源は、前記複数の導波路素子のうちの第1の導波路素子の第1の入光領域に光を放射するように配置され、
前記第2の発光源は、前記複数の導波路素子のうちの第2の導波路素子の第2の入光領域に光を放射するように配置されている請求項1に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記第1の導波路素子は、前記液晶ディスプレイパネルの中央領域または内側領域を照明するように配置され、
前記第2の導波路素子は、前記液晶ディスプレイパネルの周囲の領域または外側領域を照明するように配置されている請求項5に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記第1の導波路素子および前記第2の導波路素子は、層状に配置される請求項5に記載のLCDシステム。
- 前記第1の導波路素子および前記第2の導波路素子は、横方向に互いに隣接している請求項5に記載のLCDシステム。
- 前記第1の発光源が、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の少なくとも1つの端部に光を放射するように配置される請求項2に記載のLCDシステム。
- 前記第1の複数の発光ダイオード及び前記第2の複数の発光ダイオードのそれぞれが、異なる波長を放射するように適合された発光ダイオードを備える
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記第1の複数の発光ダイオード及び前記第2の複数の発光ダイオードの何れかは、少なくとも1つのストリップ内に配置された
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記少なくとも1つのストリップは、前記少なくとも1つのストリップ内に配置された前記複数の発光ダイオードと電気通信する共通制御回路を備える
ことを特徴とする請求項11に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記少なくとも1つのストリップは、前記少なくとも1つのストリップ内に配置された前記複数の発光ダイオードと電気通信する共通静電放電ダイオードを備える
ことを特徴とする請求項12に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記第1の発光源及び前記少なくとも第2の発光源のうちのいずれかが、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子面の延長部に結合され、
前記延長部が、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の主平面方向に曲折する
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記第1の発光源及び前記少なくとも第2の発光源のうちのいずれかが、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の表面内に埋め込まれた
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記第1の発光源及び前記少なくとも第2の発光源のうちのいずれかが、前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子の表面に画定された少なくとも1つの凹部に光学的に結合された
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子がプリズムを備える
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDシステム。 - 前記LCDパネル上に直下バックライトを放射するように配置された少なくとも第3の発光源をさらに備える
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のLCDシステム。 - テレビジョン及びコンピュータ・モニタのうちのいずれかで具体化される
ことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項18のいずれか1項に記載のLCDシステム。 - a)LCDパネルと、b)第1及び少なくとも第2の入光領域を有する少なくとも1つの導波路素子と、c)前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子内に光を放射するように配置された第1の複数の発光ダイオードを有する第1の発光源、及び、d)第2の複数の発光ダイオードを有し、前記LCDパネル上に直下バックライトを放射するように配置された、少なくとも第2の発光源であって、前記第1の発光源および前記第2の発光源は、前記液晶ディスプレイパネルの異なる領域を照明するように配置されている第1の発光源及び第2の発光源と、を利用する方法であって、
前記第1の発光源を、少なくとも前記第1の入光領域にある前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子に光学的に結合するステップと、
前記少なくとも第2の発光源を、(i)前記少なくとも第2の入光領域にある前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子、及び(ii)その直下バックライティングのための前記LCDパネルのうちのいずれかに光学的に結合するステップと、
前記LCDパネルにバックライトを当てるように前記少なくとも1つの導波路素子を配置するステップと、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。
