Description
紙の塗工の調製において典型的に使用されるラテックスバインダー含有量よりも少ないバインダー含有量を有する紙の塗工がもたらされる自己結合性顔料粒子の懸濁液を調製すること;
紙製品が充分な比引張強さ、好ましくは少なくとも10Nm/gの比引張強さを有するような紙製品用充填材を得ることを可能にする自己結合性顔料粒子の懸濁液を調製すること;
得られる懸濁液中の化石資源系の成分の含有量が低減されるような自己結合性顔料粒子の懸濁液を調製すること(即ち、自己結合性顔料粒子懸濁液を、再生可能な資源から得られるバインダーを含むものにする。);
得られた懸濁液で、かかる懸濁液の調製において典型的に使用されるラテックス系バインダーを用いて調製される対応懸濁液よりも高い生分解性が得られるような自己結合性顔料粒子の懸濁液を調製すること;
得られた懸濁液およびかかる懸濁液から作製された最終製品の汚損が遅延されるような充分な微生物学的安定性を有する自己結合性顔料粒子の懸濁液を調製すること;
懸濁液の調製、保存および適用時に使用される機器類に観察されるデポジットが少なくなるように粘着物質の含有が少ない自己結合性顔料粒子の懸濁液(即ち、より良好な取り扱いがもたらされる懸濁液)を調製すること
のうちの1つ以上が解決され得る自己結合性顔料粒子懸濁液の調製方法の必要性が存在している。
a)水性顔料材懸濁液を準備する工程、
b)少なくとも1種類の高分子バインダーを準備する工程であって、該バインダーは、ガラクトースおよび/またはマンノース単位を含む少なくとも1種類の多糖を含む工程、
c)工程b)の高分子バインダーを工程a)の水性顔料材懸濁液と混合する工程;ならびに
d)工程c)の水性顔料材懸濁液を磨砕する工程
を含む、自己結合性顔料粒子懸濁液の調製方法を提供する。
水性「顔料材」懸濁液という用語は、本発明の意味において、天然および/または合成の物質、例えば、炭酸カルシウム、タルク、白亜、ドロマイト、雲母、二酸化チタンなどを包含している。
本発明の方法の工程a)により、水性顔料材懸濁液を準備する。
本発明の方法の工程b)により、少なくとも1種類の高分子バインダーを準備する。前記高分子バインダーは、ガラクトースおよび/またはマンノース単位を含む少なくとも1種類の多糖を含む。
本発明の方法の工程c)により、工程b)の高分子バインダーを工程a)の水性顔料材懸濁液と混合する。
本発明の方法の工程d)により、工程c)の水性顔料材懸濁液を磨砕する。
以下に、本実施例における材料および実施した測定方法を記載する。
BET比表面積は、窒素を使用するISO 9277によるBET法によって、250℃で30分間の加熱による試料のコンディショニング後に測定した。かかる測定前に、試料を濾過し、すすぎ洗浄し、110℃にて炉内で少なくとも12時間乾燥させた。
粒状材の重量中位粒子径および粒子径の質量分布は、沈降法、即ち、重力場における沈降挙動の解析によって測定した。測定はSedigraph(商標)5120で行った。
水性懸濁液のpHは、標準的なpH−メータを用いておよそ22℃で測定した。
懸濁液の固形分(「乾燥重量」としても知られている。)は、Moisture Analyser HR73(Mettler−Toledo社(Switzerland)製)を使用し、以下の設定:120℃の温度、自動スイッチオフ3、標準的な乾燥、5から20gの懸濁液を用いて測定した。
手すき紙試験およびその後の該紙の機械的強度特性の試験は、自己結合性顔料のセルロース系繊維などの他の表面に対する結合能の測定である。
この試験は顔料の自己接着力の測定である。これは、自己結合性顔料スラリーから形成したタブレットを粉砕するのに必要とされる力の測定である。
水性懸濁液中の高分子電解質の含有量は、Phototrode DP 660(Mettler−Toledo(Switzerland)製)を備えたMemotitrator Mettler DL 55を用いて測定される。高分子電解質(poylelectrolyte)の含有量の測定は、炭酸カルシウム懸濁液の試料を滴定槽内に計り入れ、前記試料を脱イオン水でおよそ40mlの容量まで希釈することにより行った。続いて、10mlの0.01Mのカチオン性ポリ(N,N−ジメチル−3,5−ジメチレン−ピペリジニウムクロリド)(PDDPC;ACROS Organics(Belgium)から入手)を撹拌下で滴定槽内に5分以内でゆっくり添加し、次いで(than)槽の内容物をさらに20分間撹拌する。その後、懸濁液を0.2μmミックス−エステル製メンブレンフィルター(φ47mm)に通して濾過し、5mlの脱イオン水で洗浄する。かくして得られた濾液を5mlのリン酸バッファー(pH7)(Riedel−de Haen,Germany)で希釈し、次いで(than)0.01Mのポリビニル硫酸カリウム(KPVS;SERVA Feinbiochemica(Heidelberg)から入手)溶液を濾液にゆっくり添加し、過剰のカチオン性試薬を滴定する。滴定の終点は、Phototrode DP660(これは、かかる測定前に脱イオン水で1200から1400mVに調整する。)によって検出する。電荷の計算は、以下の計算に従って行う:

強熱減量の測定のため、自己結合性顔料材懸濁液の試料をおよそ200Wのマイクロ波中で約75分間、試料が該粒状材の総重量に対して約0.5重量%の最大湿分を有するように乾燥させた。続いて、乾燥させた試料を、200μmスクリーンと24枚の歯を有するローターとを備えたRETSCH超遠心ミル(ZM型)の使用によって解凝集させ、得られた試料3から4gを磁器製るつぼ内に秤量し、マッフル炉内で約570℃にて、一定質量になるまで加熱した。デシケータ内で冷却した後、得られた残渣を有する磁器製るつぼの重量を測定した。本明細書に示した値は、独立して調製した試料の2回の測定の平均である。

Claims (27)
- 自己結合性顔料粒子懸濁液の調製方法であって、
a)水性顔料材懸濁液を準備する工程、
b)少なくとも1種類の高分子バインダーを準備する工程であって、該バインダーは、ガラクトースおよび/またはマンノース単位を含む少なくとも1種類の多糖を含む工程、
c)工程b)のバインダーを工程a)の水性顔料材懸濁液と混合する工程、ならびに
d)工程c)の水性顔料材懸濁液を磨砕する工程であって、1μm未満の粒径を有する自己結合性顔料粒子分率が該顔料粒子の総重量に対して5重量%より大きくなるまで磨砕し、且つ分散剤は磨砕中には使用または添加を伴わない工程、
を含み、
工程c)において、該バインダーを該水性顔料材懸濁液に該顔料材懸濁液の総重量に対して0.1重量%から10重量%の量で添加する、

- 自己結合性顔料粒子懸濁液であって、
− 該自己結合性顔料粒子が、互いに結合している鉱物材料とバインダーで形成され、且つ該顔料粒子が、少なくとも部分的にポリマーバインダーで被覆されたものであり、該バインダーが、ガラクトースおよび/またはマンノース単位を含む少なくとも1種類の多糖を含み;
− 固形分が、該顔料材懸濁液の総重量に対して1重量%から80重量%であり、
− 該自己結合性顔料粒子懸濁液は、水性顔料材懸濁液とバインダーとの混合後、
1μm未満の粒径を有する自己結合性顔料粒子分率が該顔料粒子の総重量に対して5重量%より大きくなるまで粉砕されたものであり、
− 顔料粒子が、炭酸カルシウム、炭酸カルシウム含有鉱物、混合カーボネートをベースとするフィラー、またはそれらの混合物を含む群より選択される顔料材を含み、および該炭酸カルシウム含有鉱物が、ドロマイトを含み、および該混合カーボネートをベースとするフィラーが、マグネシウムと会合したカルシウム、クレイ、タルク、タルク−炭酸カルシウム混合物、炭酸カルシウム−カオリン混合物、または天然炭酸カルシウムと水酸化アルミニウム、雲母、または合成もしくは天然繊維との混合物、またはタルク−炭酸カルシウムもしくはタルク−二酸化チタンもしくは炭酸カルシウム−二酸化チタン共構造から選択される鉱物の共構造、から選択されるものであり、且つ
− 分散剤を含有しない
