Claims (10)
- 物体の被疑領域を検査するための検査システムであって、
該被疑領域は、数10cmの範囲であり、
中性子及び対応するアルファ粒子を発生するd−T中性子発生器と、
該中性子を該被疑領域に向かうように指向させる中性子ビームコリメータと、
該被疑領域に対して180°の位置に設置され、アルファ粒子を検出し中性子の発生時を特定するアルファ粒子検出器と、
中性子と該被疑領域との相互反応の後に発生するガンマ線を検出するガンマ線検出器と、
該中性子の発生時及び該発生したガンマ線の時間スペクトルに基づく深さの関数として該被疑領域の元素組成を特定するためのプロセッシングユニットと、を備え、
該コリメータは、該コリメータにおいて発生するガンマ線及び漏れ中性子を低減するためにホウ素含有ポリエステル、タングステン、スチール、銅及び鉛のうちの少なくとも一つを含む層を用いてシールドされており、
該アルファ粒子検出器は、該中性子ビームコリメータと実質的に同一な角度開口にコリメートされ、
該ガンマ線検出器は、熱中性子及び熱外中性子捕獲の発生を防ぐためにシールドされていることを特徴とする検査システム。 - 該中性子発生器の全中性子出力は、109個/秒の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
- 高重陽子ビーム電流が用いられる場合、ターゲット上に衝突する該ビームのサイズは、少なくとも1cmであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
- 該アルファ粒子検出器は、ターゲットから25cmの範囲の距離に位置していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
- 該アルファ粒子検出器は、マルチセグメント検出器を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
- 該中性子発生器は、中性子を該被疑領域に指向させるために、自身の長軸に沿って回転することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
- 該中性子発生器は、コリメートビーム以外の放射を低減し、さらにバックグランドを低減するためにシールドされており、
該シールディングの全厚さは、略50cmであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。 - 該システムは、一次検査システムによる検査の後、二次検査用に使用されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
- 該コリメータの全長は、少なくとも75cmであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
- 該システムは、一次検査サブシステム及び二次検査サブシステムに基づいており、
被疑領域は、一次システム又はオペレータによって特定され、
コリメートされた中性子を用いて該被疑領域を検査する検査のために、検査下の物体の最適な位置及び回転角度を決定するためにアルゴリズムが使用されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の検査システム。
