Claims (2)
- 接続相手側基板の上面に形成された光導波路のコアと、光ファイバの被覆の除去された箇所の露呈部における先端部分と、を光接続する光ファイバアレイの接続方法であって、
前記露呈部における先端部分を切削加工し、内部を通る光ビームを集光してモードフィールド径を小さく変換する集光部とする第1の工程と、
前記集光部を保護用部材で覆う第2工程と、
前記光導波路のコアと、装着用基板に設けられた前記光ファイバを位置決めするための溝に装着された前記露呈部の前記保護用部材で覆われた前記集光部と、を光学的に調芯する第3工程と、
前記第3工程の後に、前記接続相手側基板と前記装着用基板との間を接着固定する第4工程と、
前記第4工程の後に、前記保護用部材を除去して前記集光部の周囲に空隙を形成する第5工程と、を有する
ことを特徴とする光ファイバアレイの接続方法。 - 前記光ファイバの芯数は2以上であり、
前記装着用基板における前記溝は、前記光ファイバの芯数以上で並設された
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の光ファイバアレイの接続方法。
