Description
[項目1]
個別の光源の行及び列のアレイを形成する複数の個別の光源であって、各個別の光源は、約410nm~約470nmの範囲内の青色波長で非偏光青色光を発するように構成されている、複数の個別の光源と、
前記複数の個別の光源上に配置された多層ポリマーの部分反射体であって、実質的に垂直な入射光に対して、かつ直交する第1の偏光状態及び第2の偏光状態の各々について、前記部分反射体は、
前記青色波長を含む反射帯域と、
前記青色波長での約80%超の反射率と、
約370nm~約420nmの間にある左帯域端と、
約500nm~600nmの間にある右帯域端と、
前記右帯域端よりも大きい可視波長に対して、約20%~約80%の間にある平均透過率と、を有する、多層ポリマーの部分反射体と、
前記部分反射体上に配置された反射偏光子であって、前記青色波長を有する実質的に垂直な入射光に対して、前記第1の偏光状態を有する前記入射光の少なくとも60%を反射し、前記第2の偏光状態を有する前記入射光の少なくとも60%を透過する、反射偏光子と、
を備える、ディスプレイパネルに均一な照明を提供するためのバックライト。
[項目2]
前記青色波長は、約430nm~約470nmの範囲内である、項目1に記載のバックライト。
[項目3]
前記多層ポリマーの部分反射体は、主に強め合う光学干渉又は弱め合う光学干渉によって光を反射又は透過する複数のポリマー層を含む、項目1に記載のバックライト。
[項目4]
前記複数のポリマー層は、交互になった第1のポリマー層及び第2のポリマー層を形成し、前記第1のポリマー層は、実質的に等方性であり、前記第2のポリマー層は、実質的に複屈折性であり、かつ、直交する方向に沿った面内屈折率nx及びnyを有し、nxとnyとの差が、約0.02超である、項目3に記載のバックライト。
[項目5]
前記多層ポリマーの部分反射体は、光学拡散構造化主表面を含む、項目1に記載のバックライト。
[項目6]
前記部分反射体と前記複数の個別の光源との間に配置されており、かつ、前記複数の個別の光源を実質的に完全に封入する、封入層を更に備え、前記部分反射体と前記封入層との間に空気間隙が実質的にない、項目1に記載のバックライト。
[項目7]
前記複数の個別の光源は、回路基板上に配置され、前記回路基板は、前記個別の光源の発光を励起及び制御するための、前記個別の光源に接続された複数の導電性トレースを含む、項目1に記載のバックライト。
[項目8]
前記青色波長での少なくとも60%の反射率を有し、かつ、内部に複数の貫通開口部を画定する、反射層を更に備え、各個別の光源は、対応する貫通開口部の中に配置されている、項目1に記載のバックライト。
[項目9]
前記第1の偏光状態を有する実質的に垂直な入射光に対して、かつ少なくとも1つの赤色波長について、前記多層ポリマーの部分反射体は、前記入射光の少なくとも30%を透過し、前記反射偏光子は、前記入射光の少なくとも60%を反射する、項目1に記載のバックライト。
[項目10]
前記多層ポリマーの部分反射体と前記反射偏光子との間に配置されたプリズム層を更に備え、前記プリズム層は、規則的に配置されたプリズムのアレイを含み、各プリズムは、頂上で交差する複数の側面を含み、前記頂上は、前記部分反射体に面しており、各プリズムは、4つの等しい側面を含む、項目1に記載のバックライト。
Claims (2)
- 個別の光源の行及び列のアレイを形成する複数の個別の光源であって、各個別の光源は、約410nm~約470nmの範囲内の青色波長で非偏光青色光を発するように構成されている、複数の個別の光源と、
前記複数の個別の光源上に配置された多層ポリマーの部分反射体であって、実質的に垂直な入射光に対して、かつ直交する第1の偏光状態及び第2の偏光状態の各々について、前記部分反射体は、
前記青色波長を含む反射帯域と、
前記青色波長での約80%超の反射率と、
約370nm~約420nmの間にある、前記反射帯域にかかる左帯域端と、
約500nm~600nmの間にある、前記反射帯域にかかる右帯域端と、
前記右帯域端よりも大きい可視波長に対して、約20%~約80%の間にある平均透過率と、を有する、多層ポリマーの部分反射体と、
前記部分反射体上に配置された反射偏光子であって、前記青色波長を有する実質的に垂直な入射光に対して、前記第1の偏光状態を有する前記入射光の少なくとも60%を反射し、前記第2の偏光状態を有する前記入射光の少なくとも60%を透過する、反射偏光子と、
を備える、ディスプレイパネルに均一な照明を提供するためのバックライト。 - 前記青色波長での少なくとも60%の反射率を有し、かつ、内部に複数の貫通開口部を画定する、反射層を更に備え、各個別の光源は、対応する貫通開口部の中に配置されている、請求項1に記載のバックライト。
