Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a printer and a paper-cutting mechanism to be used independently, by printing cutting-position data on a printing paper, and providing a reading mechanism for reading the position data and a cutting mechanism operable in conjunction with the reading mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Lateral cutting-position marks 4 and longitudinal cutting-position marks 5 are printed on a continuous form paper 1. The marks 4, 5 on the paper fed to a paper-cutting mechanism 8 are read by a cutting mark reader 7 provided on the upstream side of the cutting mechanism 8. Based on the data thus read, the cutting mechanism 8 performs a cutting operation when the relevant page passes through the cutting mechanism. By this, a printer and a paper cutter can be used separately from each other, can be used even when a difference in speed is present between the two devices, and can be operated in conjunction with each other without an electric interface.

In the conventional apparatus, as described in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 57-109680, the paper is cut at a predetermined position by giving a cutting command to the paper cutting mechanism from the printing device via an interface. For this reason, it was necessary for the printing device and the paper cutting machine to be structurally connected or installed nearby, and it was also necessary to provide a dedicated interface circuit. [Problems to be solved by the invention] The above-mentioned prior art Since a dedicated interface is provided, the printing device and paper cutting mechanism must operate in synchronization, making it impossible to use the paper cutting mechanism alone.

An object of the present invention is to operate a paper cutting mechanism independently, and to make it possible to connect a printing device and cut paper immediately after printing if necessary, thereby eliminating the need for a dedicated interface seen in the prior art. It's about doing.

FIG. 1 shows an example in which a cutting position mark is printed to indicate the cutting position for the paper cutting device according to the present invention.
1 indicates a continuous paper, and 2 indicates a printing range for normal characters, graphic patterns, etc. 3 is the folding perforation of the paper, 4
5 indicates a cutting position mark in the horizontal direction, and 5 indicates a cutting position mark in the vertical direction.

The printing device prints the cutting position mark at the position shown in the figure with this in mind. The reason why the cutting position marks 4 and 5 are placed outside the normal printing area 2 is to prevent them from being mixed with characters and graphic patterns and to ensure that they can be read by the cutting mark reader of the paper cutting device.
