Abstract

PURPOSE:To conceal an unevenness due to blow-molding on the surface of a hollow body by allowing the surface of the hollow body blow-molded with synthetic resin to be applied with a primer incorporating pigment having specified diameter at a specified rate and then allowing it to be applied with topcoating. CONSTITUTION:A hollow body 1 is blow-molded with synthetic resin and the surface of this hollow body 1 is applied with a primer 6 incorporating 20-60wt.% pigment having 0.1-10mum particle diameter and then applied with topcoating 7. As a result, an unevenness due to blow-molding on the surface of the hollow body is concealed and the pretty lustrous surface can be formed.

The surface of a hollow body formed by blow molding has irregularities of about 0.1 to 1 mm due to air generated between the cavity surface and the ballisson during blow molding and scratches during mold release. For this reason, if a blow-molded hollow body is directly coated with a glossy coating, the unevenness becomes clearly visible, and the outer surface becomes unsightly despite the glossy coating.

In order to achieve the above object, the method for manufacturing a hollow body according to the present invention involves blow molding a hollow body using a thermoplastic synthetic resin, and applying a pigment having a particle size of 0.1 to 10 μm on the surface of the hollow body. An undercoat containing 20 to 60 wt% of was applied, and then a topcoat was applied.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the spoiler 1 is made by sandwiching a hanging ballisne 3 extruded from an extrusion die 2 between split molds 4 and 5, and then blowing pressure fluid into the ballison 3.
The molds 4 and 5 are molded into a shape along the respective cavities 4a and 5a, that is, into a predetermined spoiler shape, and then both molds 4.5 are opened to perform hollow molding.

At this time, unevenness occurs due to pinch-off on the entire parting line of the edge of the spoiler 1, so these unevenness are scraped off with 400 to 1000 grit sandpaper or a puff to give a smooth finish, and then the entire surface is polished with trichlorethylene. Treat with solvent.

On the other hand, if the amount of air per paint during top coating is less than 500, the painted surface will become rough and a glossy surface cannot be obtained;
If this is the case, the adhesion of the paint will be poor and productivity will be poor.
