By receiving the pattern image reflected from the subject side by the light-receiving system, it is possible to increase the subject distance in passive and active focus detection methods suitable for focus detection in photographing systems. The present invention relates to a light projection system for focus detection that aims to improve the focus detection area.

It has the advantage of being able to perform focus detection with high accuracy even when However, when the subject is far away, the amount of reflected light flux decreases, resulting in a decrease in focus detection accuracy.

There are advantages to being able to do it. However, there is a drawback that focus detection accuracy decreases when the subject side is dark or when the contrast of the subject is low.

This is proposed in Publication No. 810. In this publication, focus detection is performed by projecting a pattern image of a certain pattern from the camera side to the subject side using a light projection system, and detecting the reflected pattern image from the subject on the camera side.

Ghosts occur due to reflection, which deteriorates the optical performance of pattern images during light projection and light reception, and becomes a cause of deterioration of focus detection accuracy.

焦点検出用の投光系の提供を目的とする。(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) The present invention appropriately arranges each element of a light projection system having a certain pattern, and even without TTL light projection, the light projection system can be adjusted according to changes in the focal length of the photographing system. By limiting the illumination range of the pattern, that is, by limiting the illuminance of the pattern, the pattern image is efficiently projected onto the subject over a wide range from the telephoto end to the wide-angle end, thereby expanding the range of distance measurement. Furthermore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a light projecting system for focus detection suitable for both passive and active methods, which is capable of good distance measurement even in dark places and objects with low contrast.

The illumination range of the pattern 2 by the light beam from A4 is made to be wide as the range of the outer circumferential circle 3a shown by the solid line in FIG. In this way, the pattern image is set to be irradiated widely onto the subject surface. In addition, when the photographing system is on the telephoto side (when the focal length is long), the condenser lens 3 is moved to the light source 4 side as shown in FIG. The range is made narrow like the range of the inner circumferential circle 3b indicated by the broken line in FIG. As a result, the pattern image is set to be irradiated narrowly onto the subject surface.

The angle is made to be the same on the wide-angle side and the telephoto full, that is, the amount of projected light is made to be the same. On the telephoto side, the illumination range of the pattern is narrowed to increase the illuminance on the pattern surface, thereby increasing the projection distance of the pattern image by the projection lens 1.

The condenser lens 31 does not have refractive power in a plane direction including the optical axis L1 of the light projection system and the optical axis L2 of the photographing system 5. Therefore, even if the condenser lens 31 is moved in the direction of the optical axis L1, the illumination range of the pattern 2 in the vertical direction does not change, and therefore the illuminance of the pattern image on the subject surface at the telephoto side can be adjusted without affecting the balax. It is possible to raise it.

Since the pattern 2 is moved to the side, the illumination range of the pattern 2 by the light beam from the light source 4 is affected by the refractive power of the condenser lens 31, and becomes a vertically long ellipse 4b as shown by the broken line in FIG.

By making it variable, it illuminates a wide range when the imaging system is on the wide-angle side, and conversely illuminates a narrow range when it is set to telephoto (III). It is possible to achieve a light projection system for focus detection that is capable of highly accurate distance measurement with an expanded distance/pressure range.
