Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a color developing image with high density using thermal sublimating dye to be recorded on papers such as plain paper by providing a thermomelting acceptive layer containing synthetic resin and a multicolor layer consisting of thermal sublimating dye on a sheet base. CONSTITUTION:A thermomelting acceptive layer 2 is composed of a mixture of synthetic resin consisting of coupled ester at glass transition temperature of -50-150 deg.C and thermomelting binder. The layer is solid at an atmospheric temperature but melts if heated indicating fluidity. Therefore, it is accepted by paper, becoming white or clear. In addition, the color layers 3a-3c consists of thermal sublimating dye obtained by dispersing and mixing dye with a thermal sublimating material. These layers are solid at an atmospheric temperature, but the dye sublimates if heated. The acceptive layer 2 and color layers 3a-3c are formed on a sheet base 1 by applying them repeatedly over their respectively specified lengths in a longitudinal direction according to a prearranged sequential order excepting both sides of the sheet base. Further, color detection marks 4, 4a-4c correspond to the acceptive layer 2 and color layers 3a-3c, and are provided on one side of the sheet base 1.

Specifically, one method is to record a color transfer sheet on a platen, which is formed by providing a color layer made of a heat-melt pigment dispersed in heat-melt Wanx on a sheet base material made of a thin synthetic resin film. The color layer is superimposed on a medium, heated by a heating means such as a thermal head, and the molten color layer is transferred to the recording medium, thereby producing images such as figures and characters on the recording medium. This is a melting method.

Another method is to form a color transfer sheet by providing a color layer made of a heat-sublimable dye dispersed in a heat-sublimable material on the sheet base layer, which is then superimposed on a recording medium on a platen. This is a so-called thermal sublimation method in which images such as figures and characters are obtained on the recording medium by heating and sublimating the color layer using a heating means such as the above and transferring it to the recording medium.

In other words, in the case of a heat sublimation type recording method, the surface of paper such as plain paper cannot sufficiently absorb the dye of the color layer transferred from the color transfer sheet, so paper is used as the recording medium. However, there are disadvantages in that high-density colored images cannot be obtained and the fixing properties are also extremely poor.

Therefore, in the case of the thermal sublimation recording method, a special resin film with a flat surface such as polyester resin is generally used as the recording medium, and therefore paper such as plain paper is used as the recording medium. There have been problems in that they cannot satisfy the needs of users, have extremely poor cost performance, and are difficult to handle.

According to the above-mentioned means, the receiving layer of the color transfer sheet is transferred to the recording medium by heating means in the step before thermal sublimation transfer, and a smooth receiving layer made of synthetic resin is formed on the surface of the recording medium. This ensures the density and fixation of the color layer during subsequent heat sublimation transfer, and therefore even if paper such as plain paper is used as the recording medium,
A colored image with high density can be obtained and its fixability is also good.

Therefore, if there are many black image areas among the images to be recorded, use a color transfer sheet having a heat-melting black color layer 5 shown in FIG. 2 as the color transfer sheet 6 shown in FIG. , a receptive layer is formed in an area other than the black image, which is mainly the character part, and a color layer 3 is formed on this receptive layer.

As explained above, in the present invention, a color transfer sheet is formed by providing a heat-melting receiving layer containing a synthetic resin and a plurality of color layers made of a heat-sublimable dye on a sheet base layer, and heating means is applied to the color transfer sheet. The receptor layer of the color transfer sheet is transferred to a recording medium made of paper, and a smooth receptor layer made of synthetic resin is formed on the surface of this recording medium, so that the density and fixation of the color layer during subsequent thermal sublimation transfer is improved. Therefore, even if paper such as plain paper is used as a recording medium, a high-density colored image can be obtained and the fixability is also good.

In addition, when a smooth receiving layer made of synthetic resin is formed over the entire page of a recording medium on which an image is to be recorded by transferring the receiving layer, the effect that the forming of this receiving layer is easy is obtained, and the recording By forming the receptive layer only on the portion of the medium where the color gradation image is to be recorded, it is possible to prevent the characters from becoming difficult to see due to the gloss of the receptive layer when recording the character portion by black color transfer.
