Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily dye the title fiber densely with excellent washing fastness, by dyeing a polyphenylene sulfide fiber at temperatures higher than its glass transition temperature in the presence of a disperse dye and a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene sulfide fiber is dyed at temperatures higher than its glass transition temperature (85-89 deg.C), e.g., at >=95 deg.C, using a combination of an established disperse dye and a carrier (pref., OPP). According this process, said fiber, which has been impossible to be dyed, can easily be dyed, the dyed product therefrom being also excellent in washing fastness.
