Electrochromic display material element (hereinafter referred to as ECD)
It is abbreviated as ) is an element whose display principle is based on the phenomenon in which a display material (electrochromic substance) is in contact with an electrolyte, and when a voltage is applied to the display material, the display material is electrochemically reduced or oxidized and colored.

In such display elements, a display material and a counter electrode are generally arranged side by side in many cases, but the same display material may be used for the counter electrode in some cases. The display electrode is constructed by providing a transparent electrode (for example, tin oxide or indium oxide) on a glass plate, and providing a display material (for example, tungsten oxide) thereon.

Conventionally, this type of display element has a flat structure with many joints, which may cause electrolyte to leak from the joints, and due to its structure, it is not always convenient to attach and detach it from the element mounting part. Ta.

The present invention was developed in view of the above-mentioned conventional problems. It allows display to be displayed on the front and back sides of the display element, has fewer joints than a flat panel, and is leak-proof when using solutions. The object of the present invention is to obtain a display element that has excellent liquid properties and is detachable from an element mounting portion.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
Figures 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the present invention, in which 1 is a glass cylindrical tube, 2 is a stainless steel sealing plate and collector terminal, 3 is a transparent electrode made of indium oxide, and 4 is oxidized as a display material. Display electrode using tungsten, 5 is lithium perchlorate in propylene carbonate
This is an electrolytic solution in which 0.3 mol/mole is dissolved as an electrolyte and white fine powder is further dispersed. The transparent electrode 3 is provided on the inner surface of the glass cylindrical tube 1, for example, by dividing a cylindrical body into two vertically as shown in the figure, so that they are electrically insulated from each other. Display pole 4
are provided on each transparent electrode 3, either over the entire surface or in a specific pattern. A pair of current collector terminals 2, 2 are provided at both open ends of the glass cylindrical tube 1 so as to seal the circumference, and a pair of transparent electrodes 3, 3 on the inner surface of the cylindrical tube 1 are provided.
It has a contact that electrically connects to each of the terminals. Therefore, the pair of display electrodes 4, 4 are connected to separate current collecting terminals at both ends of the cylindrical tube 1, respectively.

The display element configured as described above has a simple structure, and has excellent leakage resistance because the current collector terminal also serves as a lid and seals both open ends of the cylindrical tube.Furthermore, a normal cylindrical fuse can be used as a fuse box. It can be attached to and removed from the display element mounting part in the same way as it is put in, making it easy to handle. Before use, if one display electrode is colored in advance and the other is in a decolored state, in addition to the general method of coloring and decoloring by applying forward and reverse direct current from both terminals, it is also possible to remove the colored element. By turning it over, it can be turned into a decolorized state. Therefore, it can also be used for driving methods in which voltage is applied intermittently in the same direction, and there is no need to intentionally apply a decolorizing voltage, making the driving method extremely simple. If used to indicate a circuit failure, etc., it can be used repeatedly. It can be done easily.

It is also possible to insert a porous opaque dispersion plate between a pair of display electrodes to make the display easier to read, and to use a solidified and colored electrolyte to enhance the display effect and more reliably prevent leakage. You can also try to make it more effective.
