Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明はフイルムの超音波接着方法に関し、詳
しくは厚さ6〜100μ程度の熱融着性を特つフイ
ルムの超音波接着における接合面の平滑性を改良
した接着方法に関するものである。
従来、熱融着性を持つフイルム同志の接合法と
して第1図のような方法がある。これは第1図に
示すように超音波ホーン1と下受台3の間に接合
すべきフイルム2を重ね合わせ、ホーンに超音波
を印加しながら圧力をかけ、熱融着させるもので
ある。このような方法において、下受台かホーン
に凹凸をつけると小さいエネルギーで完全に融着
できることが知られているが、第1図のような従
来の方法では、下受台に凹凸のついたものを用
い、ホーンに平らなものを用いたとしても第2図
に示すように下受台の凹凸のために数十μの段差
が発生し、接合面の平滑性が悪かつた。しかし、
ホーンと下受台の両方とも平らなものを用いる
と、接合面に熱歪が発生しやすく接合面の平滑性
が良好なものは得られにくい。
本発明者らはこのような欠点を改善し、フイル
ムを重ね合わせて超音波接着する際、接合面が良
好な平滑性を持つような接着方法を見い出すべく
鋭意研究の結果本発明に到達した。
即ち、本発明はフイルムの重ね合わせによる超
音波接着において、フイルムの重ね合わせ部分に
裏から接着層のついた緩衝層を貼り付け、下受台
に凹凸をつけ、平面のホーンを用いて超音波接着
することを特徴とする接合面の平滑性を向上させ
たフイルムの超音波接着方法を提供するものであ
る。
以下、図面により本発明を詳細に説明する。第
3図は本発明の接着方法の一実施例を示すもの
で、熱融着性を持つフイルム2同志を重ね合わせ
て凹凸のついた下受台3との間に接着層のついた
緩衝層4を設け、平らなホーン1に超音波を印加
しながら圧力をかけ融着させる。この場合緩衝層
4は、フイルム2同志を固定することにより、接
着の際の超音波振動でフイルムが移動し、ずれる
ことを防ぎ精度のよい融着を可能とする。また下
受台3とフイルム2の間のクツシヨンの役割を
し、下受台の凹凸が接合面に表われることを防
ぐ。緩衝層(接着層を含む)の厚さは、フイルム
の厚さの100〜200%、下受台の凹凸の高さはフイ
ルムの重ね合わせ部分の厚さ(フイルム2枚分の
厚さと緩衝層の厚さを加えたもの)の20〜60%が
望ましい。なお、熱融着性フイルム2は多層フイ
ルムであつてもよい。このような本発明の方法に
より得られた接合面の断面は第4図で示され、接
合面の平滑性が向上していることがわかる。
本発明の方法により接合されたフイルムは、そ
の優れた接合強度及び接合部表面の平滑性を利用
して種々の用途が考えられるが、特に転写タイプ
のベルト状記録媒体として有用であり、例えば電
子写真記録体、静電記録体、感熱記録体、サーモ
プラスチツク記録体等に好適に使用される。
実施例 1 厚さ100μのPETフイルムを1mm重ね合わせ、
この重ね合わせ部分にベースフイルムがセロフア
ン50μで粘着性接着層30μを有するセロフアンテ
ープ2枚を緩衝層として貼り付け、下受台は高さ
100μのダイヤモンドナール状に凹凸をつけたも
の(山の幅175μ、谷の幅285μ)を用い、印加時
間1秒、圧力70psigにて超音波接着を行い接合面
の段差が7〜8μという結果を得た。
実施例 2 厚さ100μのPETフイルムを実施例1と同じ条
件で、ダイヤモンドナールの山の幅が160μ、谷
の幅が300μのものを用い超音波接着を行い接合
面の段差が7〜8μという結果を得た。
比較例 1 厚さ100μのPETフイルムを実施例1と同じ条
件で、緩衝層を用いないで超音波接着を行うと、
接合面の段差は数十μ以上となつた。
比較例 2 厚さ100μのPETフイルムを実施例1と同じ条
件で、ホーンと下受台の両方に平らなものを用い
て超音波接着を行うと、接合面の段差は数十μ以
上となつた。
【図面の簡単な説明】
第1図は従来の超音波接着方法の説明図であ
り、第2図は第1図の方法で得られた接合面の断
面図である。第3図は本発明の接着法の説明図で
あり、第4図は第3図の方法で得られた接合面の
断面図である。 1…超音波ホーン、2…フイルム、3…下受
台、4…緩衝層。

  1. 1 フイルムの重ね合わせによる超音波接着にお
    いて、フイルムの重ね合わせ部分に裏から接着層
    のついた緩衝層を貼り付け、下受台に凹凸をつ
    け、平面のホーンを用いて超音波接着することを
    特徴とする接合面の平滑性を向上させたフイルム
    の超音波接着方法。
