(Prior art) As shown in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 57-47583, a core made up of a multilayer stack of plate-like elements each consisting of a pair of plates is disposed inside a casing, and two fluids are connected inside and outside the plate-like element. An oil cooler for an internal combustion engine is known that performs heat exchange between both fluids by separately circulating the fluid.

Cooling water flows into the outside of the plate element within the casing, and engine oil flows into the plate element. During this time, the two exchange heat. When the oil has low temperature and high viscosity, the bypass valve opens and the oil that has entered the oil inlet passage immediately flows out to the oil outlet passage.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) In the oil cooler of the conventional structure (former) as described above, when the amount of oil supplied to the oil cooler decreases, the oil cooler supplies the minimum amount of oil required to the lubrication system of the internal combustion engine. A problem may arise in that the supply is not provided. That is, if the conduit for supplying oil from the oil pan to the oil cooler is partially blocked for some reason, or if the conduit is provided with an oil filter,
If the filter becomes clogged, the flow of oil to the oil cooler will decrease. This reduced flow rate of oil is further reduced by the flow resistance of the plate element of the core, resulting in heat exchange and a reduction in the amount of oil supplied to the lubrication system of the internal combustion engine, resulting in engine malfunction. Fear arises. Incidentally, even if a bypass valve is used, the valve normally opens when the oil pressure is equal to or higher than a constant pressure, so it does not work when the flow rate decreases in this way.

In addition, in the latter type of conventional heat exchanger, since the heat exchanger bypasses the heat exchanger halfway through the heat exchange, there is a problem that the heat exchanger passes through the heat exchanger part halfway, causing a pressure loss. This reduces the amount of oil supplied, making it difficult to apply to oil coolers.

(Function) When the amount of oil flowing into the oil cooler decreases due to clogging of the filter or partial blockage of the conduit, the oil flowing into the oil cooler from the bottom surface of the bottom plate flows through the flat tube from the inlet manifold. reaching the outlet manifold,
From there it flows into the outflow chamber. At the same time, some of the oil on the lower surface of the bottom plate does not flow through the flat tube, but immediately flows through a bypass path provided on the outside of the mounting bolt peripheral wall and reaches the upper part of the outflow chamber. and is supplied to the internal combustion engine's lubrication system. As a result of some of the oil flowing through the bypass passage, even if the amount supplied to the oil cooler is reduced as described above, the amount supplied to the lubrication system will not be drastically reduced. Even when the amount of oil supplied to the oil cooler is large, the oil flows through the bypass passage and flows out, but in this case, the amount of oil flowing through the flat tube is relatively small, so the heat Does not significantly deteriorate exchange performance.

Oil from the oil pan of the internal combustion engine flows into the inlet end of the inlet passage 26 of the bracket 28, flows through the oil filter 34, and enters the oil cooler body 1.
The oil flows into the oil cooler main body 11 from the inflow opening 7a of the bottom plate 7 of No. 1. The oil entering from the inlet opening 7a reaches the inlet manifold 17, flows through each flat tube 6 as shown by the arrow in FIG. Then enter the outflow chamber 22. From there, the oil flows out of the hollow part of the mounting bolt 12 via the discharge chamber 32 and through the communication port 31. At the same time, a part of the oil does not flow through the flat tube 6, but immediately flows through the bypass passage 24 and reaches the discharge chamber 32, and as described above, the oil is removed from the mounting bolt 12.
It flows out into the hollow part of.
