形成面上に液晶分子配向方向が互いにほぼ直交す
る配向処理膜を形成した一対の透明基板を枠状シ
ール材を介して接着したセル容器内に、二色性染
料を混入した誘電異方性が正のネマテイツク液晶
を充填するとともに、前記セル容器の両面に、偏
光軸方向が前記セル容器の一方の基板面の配向処
理膜の液晶分子配向方向とほぼ平行または直交す
る一対の偏光板を配置したことを特徴とするカメ
