Abstract

PURPOSE: To form an earthquake control wall having damping and restoration properties by filling a viscous material between an interior wall hanging from an upper story and an exterior wall rising from a lower story parallel to the interior wall, and placing elastic bodies at upper and lower ends so that the walls are horizontally movably bonded to each other. CONSTITUTION: An interior wall 1 and an exterior wall 2 are formed of steel plates or the like and flanges 1a, 2a are installed on the skeletons B of upper and lower stories while other ends are separated from the skeletons B with gaps therebetween. The gap between both walls 1, 2 is maintained by a gap adjusting bolt 5 and a spacer and a viscous material 3 is filled therebetween to take up seismic forces during movement of the interior wall 1 inside the exterior wall 2. Further, elastic bodies 4 are horizontally placed at the upper and lower ends of an earthquake control wall A and bonded thereto so as to permit relative horizontal movements of the walls 1, 2 and impart a restoring force characteristic. The deformability of the earthquake control wall A is thus increased, whereby the earthquake control wall A can always be returned to its original position even at the times of excessive earthquake inputs.

Conventionally, in order to improve the seismic performance of structures, various types of seismic walls have been used, such as seismic walls with high rigidity in the elastic region and the ability to absorb hysteretic energy through plasticization, vibration damping devices with only viscous damping ability, and so-called seismic damping walls. Although methods have been proposed, no method has been developed that has both sufficient damping ability and restoring performance.

The elastic body is rubber, etc. that has elastic, elasto-plastic, or viscoelastic properties, and is glued to either the upper or lower ends, or both, between the inner and outer walls that make up the damping wall. It is relatively movable horizontally, which gives the shear wall itself an arbitrary restoring force characteristic.

A viscous material 3 is filled between the inner wall 1 and the outer wall 2, which causes the damping wall A to exhibit viscous damping performance. This allows the damping wall A to move within the outer wall 2 due to interstory displacement during an earthquake. When this occurs, a shearing resistance force is generated in the opposite direction to the inner wall 1 due to the viscous material 3, resulting in a structure that absorbs the seismic force.

At this time, in order to eliminate the impact force generated between the inner wall 1 and the viscous material 3, cushioning materials 10 such as sponges are arranged at both ends of the outer wall 2 as shown in FIG. In order to prevent leakage, sealing materials 11 are bonded to the upper end portions of the outer wall 2 at both ends of the inner wall 1, as shown in FIGS. 1-2 and 3.
