In order to reduce losses due to misalignment, etc., fiber holders are required to have high precision. Therefore, both alignment and non-alignment type fiber holders are complex and highly precise, requiring work such as removing the coating from the optical fiber, and are not easy to attach to the optical fiber, making them unsuitable for mass production. There's a problem. or,
Correspondingly, the housing must also be complicated and highly precise. Therefore, optical connectors made of these devices also have complicated structures, are not easy to assemble, and are expensive.

The width is set to a length that allows the optical fiber to be wrapped approximately once around the coating in a cylindrical shape. The covering part 11 has the above-mentioned locking protrusion 1
2. Triangular covering pieces 11a, 11b, 11c are provided on the distal end side (left side in the drawing) of the remaining part of the plate-like body excluding the lance 13 and the locking protrusion 14, On the right side) there is a rectangular covering piece 11d, 1

is formed in an expanded shape, but when used, it is bent into a cylindrical shape such as a cylinder as shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B.
As shown in the figure, it may be formed by being bent in advance into a U-shape.

ルダ10の形状に合わせて適宜定め得る。 The locking protrusion 12 is cut and raised on the inner surface (optical fiber contact surface) side of the plate-shaped body, and is provided in a protruding manner by burring or other means, and bites into the coating of the optical fiber to prevent the optical fiber from coming off. . In this embodiment, the shape is triangular in order to improve the penetration into the coating, but the shape is not limited to this, and any shape may be used as long as it is in the shape of a protrusion. Figs. 5A and 5B show burrings. In the case of cutting and raising, the direction can be arbitrary, but if it is cut and raised in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction as in this embodiment, the locking effect becomes greater. Further, the protrusion height is made smaller than the thickness of the coating in order to avoid damaging the optical fiber. Furthermore, the number and arrangement can be determined as appropriate depending on the shape of the fiber holder 10.

The locking means 28 (see FIG. 1) of the housing 20 engages with the locking means 28 (see FIG. 1), the former preventing movement in the proximal direction and the latter preventing movement in the distal direction.

The short side on the tip side is cut and raised in an oblique direction to serve as a support, giving it appropriate springiness. The shape of the lance 13 may be arbitrary as long as it has a function as a locking portion and has spring properties, and the number is not limited to two.

Unlike the lance 13 described above, this locking convex portion 14 does not need to have spring properties. Further, since it is sufficient to prevent the holder 10 from moving in the distal direction, the shape and size may be such that they can be engaged with the locking means 28 of the housing 20, and the number is not limited to two. For example, it may be formed into a flange shape.

It is desirable that the play between the inner diameters of the holding parts 25 and 26 and the fiber holder be kept small to the extent that insertion of the fiber holder does not become difficult, in order to reduce axis misalignment of the optical fiber. Further, as shown in FIG. 1, the length of the holding part 26 is set so that the tip of the fiber holder 10 to be inserted projects into the cylinder of the receiving part 24.
The length accommodates the fiber holder 10 on the insertion side that is inserted from the base side thereof, and also accommodates the fiber holder 10 on the receiving side that protrudes into the cylinder of the receiving portion 24 from its tip when mated. The length is set as long as possible.

る。 As explained above, the present invention includes a fiber holder made of a plate-like body having a fiber locking protrusion protruding from its inner surface and a locking portion that engages with a locking means of a housing at an appropriate location on its outer surface. By doing so, the structure of the fiber holder is simplified and manufacturing is facilitated, and since the fiber holder is bent along the outer periphery of the optical fiber coating and closely attached to the optical fiber, it is easy to attach to the optical fiber. It has the effect of not damaging the fiber. The present invention also provides a housing with a holding part for fitting and inserting a fiber holder attached to an optical fiber into each of the insertion side and the receiving side and holding the optical fiber so that the optical fibers are concentrically opposed when fitted, and a holding part for holding the optical fiber so that the fiber holder attached to the optical fiber is coaxially opposed to each other when the housing is fitted; By providing a locking means for locking the holder, it is possible to reliably cause the fiber holder to face each other concentrically without the need for complicated and difficult work such as alignment, and furthermore, the holding portion can be The structure can be extremely simplified because the through holes are provided in the rod-shaped insertion portion on the insertion side and on the bottom of the receiving hole on the receiving side. Therefore, according to the present invention, it is possible to obtain an optical connector which has a simple structure, whose parts can be easily manufactured and is inexpensive, whose assembly work such as attachment of optical fibers can be easily performed, and which can be constructed at a low cost as a whole. Can be done.
