Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize durability and operating characteristics and to prevent the generation of damages on a medium surface at the time of sliding with a head by adopting the constitution in which the thicknesses of a head core in the direction perpendicular to a sliding surface vary. CONSTITUTION:Groove parts 3 for regulating the track width are worked to a head core block 1 consisting of a high permeability material and thereafter, the block is subjected to glass molding. A gap 4 for reproduction and a winding groove 5 are provided and the block is sliced to form the head core 1'. Both side surfaces of the core 1' are worked to form the T-shaped core 2. The thicknesses t1 to t3 in the respective parts of the core 2 are set at adequate thicknesses by taking the mechanical strength, electromagnetic conversion characteristics and wear resistance into consideration. Sliders 7, 8 are then adhered to the head core 2 via an adhesive layer 9 and the magnetic head is thus obtd.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Floppy disks, which are an example of conventional magnetic disks, are relatively easy to handle and can record a large amount of information, so their use as external recording devices for personal computers, minicomputers, etc. is expanding. in recent years,
Furthermore, there is a growing trend toward higher density FDD devices, and therefore magnetic heads are required to improve short wavelength recording characteristics so as to increase linear recording density.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, in the magnetic head configured as described above, an organic adhesive made of epoxy resin or the like is used for -II when bonding the head core 10 and the pair of sliders 11 and 12. . However, with a core structure made of organic adhesive, it is difficult to obtain sufficient mechanical strength, heat resistance, and moisture resistance.
When used for a long period of time, the resin etc. on the adhesive surface swells and the adhesive surface becomes misaligned. In addition, uneven wear occurs due to the difference in wear speed between the slider and the helad core, and in either case, spacing occurs near the recording/reproducing gap, resulting in unstable operating characteristics such as a decrease in head output. there were. Furthermore, since the adhesive layer 13 made of an organic adhesive is exposed on the sliding surface with the recording medium, if the adhesive layer 13 has a protruding shape, the sliding surface with the recording medium will be exposed. When moving, there was a problem in that damage such as scratches was caused to the surface of the medium.

In view of the above-mentioned problems, the present invention provides a magnetic head which has extremely stable durability and operating characteristics and which does not cause damage such as scratches to the medium surface even when the head slides.

Means for Solving the Problems In order to solve the above problems, the magnetic head of the present invention has a head core having a recording/reproducing gap that has a cross section of the head core in a direction perpendicular to the sliding surface with the recording medium. The thicknesses are different so that the sliding surface side of the head core is wider. Furthermore, the structure is such that the bonding surface between the head core and ceramic or the like is not exposed on the sliding surface with the recording medium.

Effect of the Invention The present invention has the above-mentioned structure, and in the conventional magnetic head, the adhesive part between the slider and the helad core on the head sliding surface develops a step due to changes over time such as swelling of the resin, which causes recording and reproducing problems. Spacing occurs near the media gap, reducing head output, and the protruding adhesive layer causes scratches and other damage to the media surface. was. There is no adhesive layer between the head core and the ceramic slider on the head sliding surface, so there is no spacing or damage to the media surface. Also, since there is no slider near the recording/playback gear knob, the head core Also, there is no effect on the head characteristics due to uneven wear of the slider.

As described above, according to this embodiment, the thickness of the cross section of the head core in the direction perpendicular to the sliding surface of the head core with the recording medium is different, and the sliding surface side of the head core is configured to be wider. By creating a head structure in which the adhesive surface with the slider, such as ceramic, is not exposed on the sliding surface with the recording medium, the adhesive surface between the head core, slider, and helad core, which has been a problem with conventional magnetic heads, has been improved. This eliminates the drop in head characteristics caused by the spacing near the gap caused by uneven wear between the slider and the helad core, and also eliminates damage such as scratches to the media surface caused by the protrusions on the adhesive surface. I don't give anything.

Effects of the Invention As described above, in the present invention, the head core having a recording/reproducing gap has a different thickness in the cross section of the head core in the direction perpendicular to the sliding surface with the recording medium, and the sliding surface side of the head core is wider. By configuring this structure so that the bonding surface between the ceramic slider and the helad core is not exposed on the head sliding surface, the difference in level that occurs on the bonding surface between the slider and the helad core and the slider It is possible to eliminate uneven wear between the head cores. Furthermore, it is also possible to eliminate damage such as scratches to the surface of the recording medium caused by the protruding adhesive layer.
