Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title leather resistant to deterioration by incorporating a ultraviolet light absorber into the topcoating transparent resin layer and an intercoating resin layer of a man-made leather laminated with resin layers. CONSTITUTION:A woven or knit base fabric 1 comprising natural or synthetic fiber is successively laminated with (1) a sponge layer 2 consisting of e.g. expandable vinyl chloride-based resin, (2) a non-expandable intercoating resin layer 3, (3) a color-patterned print layer 4, and (4) a topcoating transparent resin layer 5, thus obtaining the objective man-made leather. In this case, each 100 pts.wt. of the layers 3 and 5 has been incorporated with ca.0.1-1 pt.wt. of a ultraviolet light absorber (e.g. benzotriazole-, benzophenone-based one). Incorporation of greater amount of said ultraviolet light absorber into the layer 5 will enhance the weatherability of the final man-made leather.

Synthetic leather is known that has a top-coated transparent resin layer provided on the printed layer to prevent wear and damage of the printed layer, but this type of synthetic leather is a leather without a top-coated transparent resin layer. This deterioration phenomenon occurs mainly on the surface of the upper transparent resin layer, but it is not limited to this area because light passes through the transparent resin layer!
f It also affects the layers below the transparent layer (print layer, hollow resin layer, etc.). In addition, the transparent layer has the disadvantage that a portion of the light that has passed through the transparent layer is reflected by the lower layer and returned to the transparent layer, resulting in further deterioration.

The present invention is constructed by mixing an ultraviolet absorber into the upper transparent resin layer 5 and the middle resin layer 3. As the ultraviolet absorber, used are benzotriazole-based, benzophenone-based, salicylate ester-based, benzoate ester-based ultraviolet absorbers, and compounds obtained by combining these ultraviolet absorbers with antioxidants. The amount of the ultraviolet absorber mixed is O.1 to 100 parts by weight of the resin for forming each resin layer.
About 1.0 ffiffi part is preferable, and in order to impart superior weather resistance to the synthetic leather, a larger amount of the ultraviolet absorber is mixed into the upper transparent resin layer than the middle resin layer.

In the synthetic leather of the present invention, light stabilizers, antioxidants, anti-urethane agents, flame retardants, etc. may be added to predetermined layers as necessary. Among these additives, in particular, hindered amine light stabilizers, etc. It is preferable to add a light stabilizer in combination, and in this case, the weather resistance performance can be further improved. 0. About 1 to 0.5 parts by weight is recommended (similar to the UV absorber, it is better to mix it in a larger amount in the top transparent resin layer than in the middle resin layer, and the mixing ratio at that time also depends on the amount of the UV absorber). The same range as the mixing ratio is preferable.

Measurement [Effect of the Invention] As explained above, the weather-resistant synthetic leather of the present invention has a transparent top resin layer and a cow resin layer mixed with an ultraviolet absorber. Even if the transparent layer contains a large amount of ultraviolet absorber, it is difficult for weather resistance to deteriorate.Especially when a large amount of ultraviolet absorber is mixed in the upper transparent layer of the above two layers, external light is sufficiently blocked by the transparent layer. This has the remarkable effect of preventing deterioration of each layer and also preventing deterioration of the transparent layer due to reflected light from the lower layer.
