Abstract

PURPOSE:To continuously produce the non-resin type vibration control steel sheet having an excellent vibration control characteristic and joint strength by scanning steel sheets in the transverse direction thereof by an impulsive high-energy density beam in a nonoxidative atmosphere to intermittently melt the steel sheets and press- welding the steel sheets by a rolling roll in succession thereto. CONSTITUTION:While two sheets of the steel sheets 1, 1 are rolled down in the thickness direction by the rolling roll 4 on a table, the one steel sheet 1 is opened along the peripheral surface of the roll 4 on the inlet side of the roll to form a V-shaped aperture between the two steel sheets 1 and 1. The tangent of the two steel sheets 1, 1 deep in the V-shaped aperture is irradiated thereupon with the high energy density beam 5 from the open side while the part near the tangent is shielded by gas, such as Ar or He. A beam source 6 is capable of irradiating the range from one sheet end on the tangent to the other sheet end repeatedly back and forth with the impulsive beams of the prescribed periods. The vibration control steel sheet interspersed with welded parts 7 on the zigzag lines is produced if the steel sheets are successively rolled down in the thickness direction by the roll 4 while the steel sheets are intermittently melted by the impulsive beams generated from the beam source 6.

In recent years, the introduction of vibration-damping steel plates has been considered in automobiles, home appliances, and the like to prevent noise and vibration. The damping rope plate that is currently the mainstream in development is a resin sandwich type in which a thin resin film 2 is sandwiched between the rope plates 1 and 1 as shown in Figure 5(a), and some of them are already in use. Now, practical application has begun. The damping principle is that the resin film 2 undergoes shear deformation during vibration and absorbs vibration energy.

This resin sandwich type vibration damping steel plate has excellent vibration damping properties, but since its properties are controlled by the physical properties (viscoelasticity) of the resin film 2, it is highly temperature dependent, and the resin must be changed depending on the usage environment temperature. There is a problem that cannot be solved. Further, the use of the resin film 2 results in a decrease in heat resistance and a lack of weldability.

A vibration-damping steel plate developed against the background of such problems is, for example, a powder composite type vibration-damping steel plate disclosed in [Tetsu to Hagane Lecture Summary Collection' 87-51500 J. As shown in FIG. 5(c), this damping steel plate is a non-resin damping steel plate in which metal powder 3 such as copper is sandwiched between steel plate 1.1 and metal powder 3. and are integrated by diffusion bonding. This vibration-damping steel plate, which does not use resin, naturally has low temperature dependence, excellent heat resistance and weldability, and also absorbs vibration energy by abrasion of free interfaces other than metal powder joints, making it suitable for resin sandwich inches. Shows vibration damping properties similar to mold vibration damping steel plates.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, conventional powder composite vibration damping steel plates are made by sandwiching metal powder 3 in a predetermined distribution between steel plates 1.1 cut out to a predetermined size, and then pressurizing the It is manufactured using a batch method in which it is inserted into a heating furnace. Therefore, the manufacturing cost is extremely high compared to the resin sandwich type damping #l plate for which a continuous manufacturing method has already been developed. Moreover, even if continuous production is performed, it is difficult to control the distribution of the metal powder 3, and even if continuous production is possible, the process will be complicated and a large cost reduction cannot be expected.

In the joining method disclosed in the literature, the beam 5 is only irradiated linearly in the rolling direction, but if the beam 5 is moved back and forth in the sheet width direction at this time, the steel sheet 1.
The movements in the rolling direction are synergized, and the steel plates 1, 1 are seamed in a so-called zigzag shape.

Steel plates joined in this way 1. When viewed as a damping steel plate, the steel plate 1.1 is integrated by partial joining, similar to the powder composite damping steel plate shown in ) in Fig. 5, and the damping properties of the steel plates 1 and 1 are are directly joined without the intervening metal powder 3, and the steel plates 1.1 are in direct contact with each other in the non-bonded portions, so it can be expected that it will have better properties than the powder composite damping steel plate.

That is, in the case of a non-resin damping steel plate, as mentioned above, the damping effect is obtained by absorbing vibration energy due to the friction of the free interface other than the joint, but in the case of a powder composite damping steel plate, the steel plate 1. Since the metal powder 3 is present between the steel plates 1 and 1, the adhesion between the steel plates 1 and 1 cannot be said to be good at the non-bonded portions.

Since there are no inclusions between the steel plates 1.1, the adhesion of the steel plates 1.1 in the non-joined areas is essentially high, and this adhesion is further enhanced by rolling with the rolling rolls 4.4, resulting in excellent vibration damping. The characteristics can be expected.
