Conventional technology Traditionally, stands used for assistive devices for the disabled were made of aluminum alloy (hollow) or made of wood (solid).
However, all of them have sharp fractured surfaces and are dangerous, and users have been demanding products that are even lighter. On the other hand, it is conceivable to use a composite material other than aramid resin, but this is not appropriate as there is a risk that the fibers in the composite material may sharply protrude from the fractured surface and pierce the body when broken.

Function The aramid composite material is a fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin, and the straight pipe section of the stay formed from this material weighs approximately 1/2 that of a conventional stay.
Since the strength is higher than that of conventional products, it is extremely lightweight and easy to handle, and since the reinforcing fibers are exposed in the form of fluff at the fractured surface, it is safe and will not pierce the body.

Example In the figure, 1 is a cylindrical or slightly tapered core material, such as Teflon or silicone, which has a large coefficient of thermal expansion and excellent mold releasability, and is coated with a dry method or a fiber reinforced base material. An uncured composite layer 2 is formed by tightly wrapping a material to which aramid resin is attached using a wet method, and a durable metal split jig 3 with a semicircular cross section is tightly attached to the outer surface of the composite layer 2 to form a fastener. 4, and is heated using a suitable heating device to harden the composite layer 2.

When cooled after heating for a predetermined period of time, the cured composite layer 2 expands and the core material 1 contracts, so that the core material 1 can be easily pulled out from the cured composite layer 2, and the jig 3 also pulls out the cured composite layer 2. It can be easily removed from the Both ends of the released cured composite layer 2 are finished to form a straight pipe portion 5.

The straight pipe part 5 made of an aramid composite material has a small diameter and a high strength despite being lightweight, and a tip fitting 6 and a grip part 7 are fixed to it to form a stay.

Effects of the invention Since the straight pipe part of the present stay is made of aramid composite material, it has high strength despite its small diameter and can be formed to be significantly lighter than conventional ones. Because of this, there is no risk of injury to the body, making it extremely safe and suitable as an aid for the disabled.
