Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of sheets of originals to be transmitted for reduction of the transmission time and to reduce the consumption of the recording paper at the reception side by synthesizing with reduction plural sheets of originals to be transmitted into a single sheet of original. CONSTITUTION:The originals read at a reading part 1 are outputted to a store circuit part 2 as the picture information 12, and the part 2 stores the picture information equivalent to four sheets of originals. A reducing/synthesizing part 3 takes out the stored picture information every sheet and reduces it down to 1/4. This reduced picture information equivalent to four sheets of originals are synthesized into a single sheet of picture information. A reduction rate setting part 6 sets the reduction rate at 1/4 and outputs a reducing rate designating signal 63 to the part 3. The part 3 synthesizes with reduction the picture information equivalent to four sheets of original into a single sheet. This reduced and synthesized information is coded at a coding circuit part 4 and transmitted via a communication control part 5 based on the facsimile communication control procedure.
