Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain a high speed access to image information by using an optical disk to control the image information and a magnetic disk as a buffer for the image information respectively. CONSTITUTION:When the necessary image information is pointed, an image information access device 2 refers to an image information directory 3 to check whether the image information is stored in a magnetic disk 4 or not. If so, the image information is read out of the disk 4 and displays it on an image display device 1. At the same time, the reference data included in the directory 3 is changed to the current one. If the image information is not stored in the disk 4, the relevant information is read out of an optical disk 5. Then the information is displayed on the device 1 and also written into the disk 4. Thus a high speed access is possible to the image information.
