134706, JP-A-53-3209). This method has the advantage of having a small demagnetizing field for recorded magnetization and can record magnetization at high density, but it requires a recording medium with perpendicular anisotropy and a perpendicular magnetization recording head with a strong perpendicular magnetic field. shall be. 1st
The figure shows an example of a conventionally proposed perpendicular magnetization recording head. The main pole 1 has a high magnetic permeability thin film 2 sandwiched between non-magnetic materials 7, and the tip of the thin film 2 is close to a perpendicularly anisotropic magnetic film 6 on the surface of a recording medium 5. The auxiliary pole 3 has a coil 4 for writing and reading and is on the opposite side of the medium 5 to the main pole 1. The perpendicular anisotropic magnetic layer 6 is magnetized by the tip of the high magnetic permeability thin film 2 according to a signal to perform magnetic recording. Conversely, reading is performed by magnetizing the high permeability thin film 2 with the magnetization of the magnetic layer 6. Generally, a perpendicular magnetization recording head requires a strong perpendicular magnetic field at the tip of the magnetic pole for recording and reproducing, so the high magnetic permeability thin film 2 is used in configurations other than those described above. A perpendicular magnetization recording head having such a high magnetic permeability thin film 2 has a drawback that the head output is affected by the external magnetic field Hex applied in parallel to the high magnetic permeability thin film 2 and is reduced. Curve A in FIG. 2 is an experimental result in which the head output (relative value) decreases with respect to the external magnetic field Hex. According to curve A, the head output decreases due to an external magnetic field of about 0.5 Oe, but this external magnetic field is applied by the earth's magnetism and magnetic recording device parts and equipment near the head. FIG. 3 shows actual measured values of the change in magnetic permeability of a vapor-deposited permalloy thin film (0.7 μm thick), which is a typical high magnetic permeability thin film, in response to an external magnetic field Hex. Magnetic permeability decreases due to external magnetic field Hex of about 1 Oe. The decrease in the output of the vertical head due to the external magnetic field Hex is caused by the decrease in magnetic permeability due to magnetic saturation of the high magnetic permeability thin film 2, but generally other high magnetic permeability materials (sendust, amorphous material,
A thin film such as ferrite (ferrite) is easily magnetically saturated in a weak magnetic field and its permeability decreases.

The impact of In this case high permeability material 8
For example, a material with high magnetic permeability such as ferrite, FeNi-based alloy, or CoZr-based amorphous alloy is preferable, and the non-magnetic material 7 is preferably glass such as Neoceram, alumina, or other inorganic ceramics.
Curve B in FIG. 5 shows the external magnetic field according to the configuration of the present invention.
Shows head output for Hex. The figure also shows curve A of the conventional example shown in FIG. 2 for comparison, and compared to curve A of the conventional example, the head output does not decrease even with an external magnetic field six times or more stronger. This is shown in Figure 4, where the surrounding high magnetic permeability material 8 is higher than the high magnetic permeability thin film 2.
Since the magnetic resistance is small, most of the magnetic lines of force due to the external magnetic field Hex pass through the high magnetic permeability material 8 and do not pass through the high magnetic permeability thin film 2. For this reason, the decrease in magnetic permeability due to the external magnetic field Hex is small, and the head output does not decrease. In this embodiment, the high magnetic permeability material 8 does not necessarily need to completely surround the main magnetic pole 1 as long as the above-mentioned lines of magnetic force passing through the high magnetic permeability thin film 2 are reduced. Therefore, if the high magnetic permeability material 8 is present on at least one side of the main pole 1, it will have an effect.

Great magnetic shielding effect. FIG. 6 shows another embodiment, in which the same parts as in the embodiment of FIG. 4 are designated by the same numbers. This embodiment is an example of a main magnetic pole excitation type head, in which a coil 4 is wound around a groove 9 at the tip of a main magnetic pole 1 in which a high magnetic permeability thin film 2 is sandwiched between non-magnetic materials 7, and an electric signal is input or output from the main magnetic pole. 1. The main magnetic pole 1 is surrounded by a high magnetic permeability material 8, and as in the previous embodiment, most of the magnetic flux due to the external magnetic field Hex passes through the high magnetic permeability material 8 and does not pass through the high magnetic permeability thin film 2, so that the external magnetic field Reduces the influence of Hex.
In this embodiment, since the coil is wrapped with the high magnetic permeability material 8, not only is the influence of the external magnetic field Hex small, but also the disturbance magnetic flux due to the noise magnetic field is suppressed against the disturbance noise magnetic field that causes external noise. passes through the high magnetic permeability material 8 and does not pass through the coil, reducing noise.
