Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent insulating resistance from decreasing and to reduce baking cost by a method wherein a dielectric ceramic layer is formed by baking a material containing nonreducing dielectric powder and low temperature sintering assistant. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of dielectric ceramic layers 14 containing nonreducing dielectric powder and low temperature sintering assistant are laminated to form a dielectric 12 of a laminated ceramic capacitor 10. A plurality of inner electrodes 16 formed to alternately expose both ends of the dielectric 12 are formed between the layer 14. Two outer electrodes 18 are so formed as to connect to the electrodes 16 on both end faces of the dielectric 12. The inner layer 18a of the electrode 18 is connected to the electrode 16, the materials are copper or copper alloy. The outer layer 18 of the electrode 18 is formed of lead or tin. The thickness of the electrode 16 is desirably approx. 0.5-5mum. In the capacitor 10, metal paste used as the electrode 16 is so printed as to alternately expose both ends of a ceramic green sheet by a screen printing method to be adhered by thermocompression bonding. Thus, it can prevent its insulating resistance from decreasing to reduce its baking cost.

Conventionally, the dielectric ceramic layer has a dielectric material of 1250
It was formed by firing at a temperature below 10°C. Further, since the dielectric material is fired at such a high temperature, a silver-palladium alloy or palladium, which has a high melting point and is difficult to oxidize at high temperatures, has been used as the +A material for the internal electrodes.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) However, in conventional multilayer ceramic capacitors, the firing temperature of the dielectric ceramic layer is as high as 1250°C or higher. M! 1, the firing cost 1- becomes large. In addition, if the dielectric material 1'1 is fired in a reducing atmosphere because copper, etc., which is easily oxidized due to the +A material for the internal electrodes, is fired in a reducing atmosphere, the dielectric ceramic will be reduced and the insulation 11 (resistance will be lowered). Therefore, as the abrasive material for the inner mold 44, a low-percentium alloy or palladium z1', which has a high point and is difficult to oxidize at high temperatures, was used. However, these 44Fl are expensive, causing a slight increase in the cost of the i-layer ceramic layer. Also, in the internal electrode formed of a silver-palladium alloy, the silver Characteristics may deteriorate due to migration, and internal electrodes made of palladium have low conductivity, resulting in a large equivalent series resistance.

To manufacture this laminated ceramic capacitor 10,
A ceramic green sheet formed of non-reducible dielectric powder and a low-temperature sintering aid is prepared. A metal paste that will become the internal electrodes 16 is printed on this ceramic green sheet by a screen printing method or the like. These metal pastes are printed so as to be exposed alternately on both edges of the ceramic green sheet. These Ceramic Green Sea I. are then thermocompressed to obtain a laminate. A metal paste that will become the external electrodes 18 is applied to both end faces of this laminate. This laminate is then fired in an oxygen partial pressure atmosphere in which the metal paste I, which will become the internal electrodes 16 and external electrodes 18, is not oxidized. The multilayer ceramic capacitor 10 is formed in the following manner.

When using a copper alloy paste, the conductivity and melting point of the copper alloy may change depending on the type and amount of metals other than the copper base. It will be done. For this reason, it is defined by the intended use of the copper alloy paste string or multilayer capacitor, and the composition of the non-reducible dielectric powder and the low-temperature sintering aid.

As shown in Tables 1 and 2, it can be seen that the laminated ceramic capacitor of the present invention has a good insulation resistance of 1010 Ωcm or more. On the other hand, some laminated ceramic capacitors outside the scope of the present invention have extremely poor properties such as dielectric loss and insulation resistance, and cannot be used as laminated ceramic capacitors. In addition, since the firing temperature is 1050°C or higher, due to the melting point,
Some devices cannot use copper or copper alloys as internal electrodes. Furthermore, if too much low-temperature sintering aid is added to the non-reducible dielectric powder, the low-temperature sintering aid may be extracted during firing, resulting in softening and deformation of the laminated ceramic capacitor.

Further, in the multilayer ceramic capacitor of the present invention, since the dielectric ceramic can be sintered at low temperature in a non-reducing atmosphere, a material mainly made of copper or a copper alloy can be used for the internal electrodes.

Furthermore, since the same feed can be used for the external electrode and the internal electrode, it is possible to simultaneously and integrally fire the modified ceramic internal electrode and the external electrode, and it is possible to use the same feed for firing the external electrode. There is no need for a separate process, and firing costs can be lowered compared to conventional methods.
