Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the exhaustion of lubrication on a magnetic disk plane due to contact start/stop by providing a lubrication part in which lubricant is impregnated in a sliding plane with a magnetic disk and a dynamic pressure air bearing plane. CONSTITUTION:A square recessed part is formed on the sliding plane with the magnetic disk and the dynamic pressure air bearing plane 20 of a magnetic head slider 2 by using an ion beam etching device, and binder is filled and hardened, and after that, a surplus part is cut considering the amount of expansion due to the impregnation of the lubricant, and the lubricant is impregnated, then, the lubrication part 7 is formed. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the exhaustion of lubrication on the surface of the magnetic disk occurring even when a thin film disk with low lubrication holding capability is used, and to improve the contact start/stop characteristic of a magnetic disk device.

In a fixed disk device, when writing information to or reading information from a magnetic disk (1), the magnetic disk (1) is rotated at a high speed of, for example, 3600 rpm in the direction of the arrow. Using the air flow generated by this rotation, the magnetic head slider (2) uses the principle of air bearing to move the magnetic disk (1
) Float with a submicron gap above the surface. That is, the pressing force of the suspension (3) and the upward force of the air flow are balanced, and the magnetic head I/slider (2) floats stably.

[Problem to be solved by the invention] In recent years, as the demand for higher density recording in magnetic disk devices has increased, thin film tapes formed by sputtering, plating, etc. have come to be used for magnetic disks. . However, with thin-film tapes, the lubricant applied to the outermost surface of the magnetic tape does not penetrate into the inside of the magnetic tape, unlike a coating disk. Furthermore, the magnetic head slider used for the application disk is also used. Therefore, the lubricant on the surface of the thin-film disk is gradually removed by the CSS of the magnetic disk device, and the thin-film disk and the magnetic head slider eventually come into direct contact, resulting in the loss of important recorded information.
