The male connector 4 has a recess 4a for receiving the female connector 5, and a pair of light emitting diodes 1 and photodiodes 2 are respectively attached to the opposing inner walls of the recess 4a. Female connector 5
A fiber optic cable 3 is provided which transmits light from the light emitting diode 1 to the photodiode 2 when the light emitting diode 1 is fully received within the recess 4a of the male connector 4.

According to the present invention, the amount of light transmitted from the light emitting diode 1 to the photodiode 2 via the optical fiber cable 3 in a state where the female connector 5 is completely connected to the male connector 4 is used as a reference, and It becomes possible to detect disconnection between the connectors 4 and 5 based on the variation in the amount of light received by the photodiode 2 as the degree of coupling between the connectors 4 and 5 changes.
