ピストンロツドと、該ピストンロツドの一端に固
定されて上記シリンダ内を上部液室と下部液室と
に隔成しつつ摺動可能なピストンとを備え、上記
ピストンには、それぞれ上部液室と下部液室とを
置換流通する作動液に流動抵抗を付与して減衰力
を発生させる減衰力発生機構が配置されている一
方、上記ピストンロツドには、内部軸方向に沿つ
て貫通形成された中心孔と、該中心孔と上部液室
とを連通する側孔とが形成されていると共に、上
記中心孔内に上記側孔の開口断面積を変化させて
減衰力を可変制御する減衰力可変型機構とを備え
、更に、上記ピストンロツドの一端に、リテーナ
と該リテーナに保持されたバルブボデイを有する
チエツクバルブを設けた液圧緩衝器であつて、上
記チエツクバルブのバルブボデイに、上記中心孔
と下部液室間に作動液を置換流動させる伸側通路
と圧側通路とを貫通形成し、バルブボデイの一端
に上記伸側通路を流通した作動液に流通抵抗を付
与するリーフ弁体を設けたことを特徴とする減衰
