【発明の詳細な説明】
ジューサを含む超音波共振振動器に係る。
外科的用途、特に組織分断用ツールを含む外科用ハンド
ピースに使用する超音波共振振盪様内蔵装置は周知であ
る。このような装置においては所要の超音波振動を磁気
歪手段で発生し、連結部材を介して当該ツールに伝達す
る。

この形式の装置の代表例が米国特許筒
4223.676号に開示されており、その開示内容を

してのニッケル合金の帯条片を複数枚重ねて成層構造に

上述の従来形トランスジューサは外科的処置に使用する
と効果的かつ非常に便利であることが証明されているが
、その性能記録が良いこととは別にいくつかの問題点も
ある。例えば、何らかの理由で冷却剤の流量が低下した
時、平坦形成層構造では加熱するおそれがあり、またそ
の加熱によって装置に重大な損傷を及ぼす結果となる場
合がある。また、平坦構造が実質的な機械的剛性を示す
のは、−平面に限られており、全体的な剛性を欠く結果
として誤操作による機械的損傷を生じることがある。ま
た成層が分離したり曲げられたりすると、装置全体が使
用不能になるおそれがある。

上に挙げたような問題点は、本出願と同時に出願した米
国特許出願第287.748号に記載、特許請求してい
るように、帯条片を半径方向に伸びるフィン0形に配設
した実質的に剛性の柱状体としてトランスジューサを形
成することによって克服すトランスジューサは複数の磁
気歪材料帯条片を含んで成り、各帯条片が近位端部と遠
位端部を有し、この両端部において隣接帯条片に取付け
されて、中心軸を有しその中心軸に関して半径方向に伸
びるフィンを備えた実施的に剛性の柱状体を形成してい
る。

伸びるフィンを備え、且つ前記中心軸に沿って同心的に

共振部材の少なくとも一部がトンネル内部に配設され且
つ前記近位端部においてトンネルの内側に取付番プされ
ている超音波共振振動器が提供される。

上に述べたような本発明による折畳み形共振器を内蔵し
た外科用ハンドピースは、従来の長いハンドピースに比
べて長さが短く、取扱い易く、使用し易いものである。

組込んだものに比較して投入電力が少なくて済むという

利点を示すものである。さらに、本発明は不用組織を中
心部を通って完全に吸引することを可能にしているため
、外科用配管をハンドピースの近位端部で連結すること
ができ、指で握る部分を短くすっきりしたものにするこ
とができる。

組込んだものに比較して投入電力が少なくて済むという
知見も得でおり、これは本発明の折畳み形共振器の別の
利点を示すものである。さらに、本発明は不用組織を中
心部を通って完全に吸引することを可能にしているため
、外科用配管をハンドピースの近位端部で連結すること
ができ、指で握る部分を短くすっきりしたものにするこ
とができる。
さらに、本発明による折畳み形共振器を内蔵した外科用
ハンドピースは、直線状の連結部分だけでなく湾曲した
連結部分や湾曲したツールその他の中間部材とも使用で
きるという知見も得ている。

Claims (8)
- (1)近位端部と遠位端部を有する共振部材と、前記共
振部材に伝達される超音波振動を発生する超音波振動磁
気歪トランスジューサとを含んで成る超音波共振振動器
であつて、このトランスジューサが磁気ひずみ材料から
成る複数の細長い帯状片を含んでおり、各帯状片が近位
端部と遠位端部を有し、且つこの両端部において隣接帯
条片に取付けされて一体で実質的に剛性の柱状体を形成
しており、こうして形成された柱状体は中心軸を有し、
該中心軸に関して半径方向に伸びるフィンを備え、且つ
前記中心軸に沿って同心的に中央トンネルを形成する長
手方向孔を有しており、前記共振部材の少なくとも一部
がこのトンネルの内部に配設され、且つ前記近位端部に
おいてこのトンネルの内側に取付けされている超音波共
振振動器。 - (2)前記共振部材が近位端部と遠位端部を有する連結
部分を含んでおり、前記近位端部が共振部材の近位端部
に相当し、前記遠位端部は動作部材に連結するように構
成されている請求項1に記載の振動器。 - (3)前記中央トンネルの横断面が実質的に円形である
請求項1に記載の振動器。 - (4)磁気歪トランスジューサの各細長の帯条片が実質
的にV字形の横断面を有しており、Vの字のそれぞれの
辺が帯条片の長手方向の長さによつて形成されている請
求項1に記載の振動器。 - (5)各帯条片の両端部における隣接帯条片の両端部へ
の取付けが、ろう付けまたは溶接によって行なわれてい
る請求項4に記載の振動器。 - (6)各V字形帯条片のそれぞれの辺が、この帯条片の
全長手方向長さに亘つてすぐ隣りの帯条片の辺と接触し
て半径方向に伸びるフィンを形成しており、こうして得
られるフィンが結果的に得られる実質的に剛性の柱状体
の長手方向に伸びる中央トンネルの周りに放射状パター
ンを形成している請求項4に記載の振動器。 - (7)前記動作部材が外科用ツールである請求項2に記
載の振動器。 - (8)前記連結部分がその長手方向に伸びる中心孔を含
んでおり、前記中心孔の直径が流体輸送用の管を収容で
きるのに十分の大きさである請求項2に記載の振動器。
