Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable efficient use of the subject printer by adding a timer section which controls data so that it is sent by manual designation to a storage section and printed by retrieving it from the storage section at a designated time, and a data input/output section which sends data to the storage section and outputs it from the section. CONSTITUTION:When long data is printed later, a timer section 14 is set for printing time. The timer section 14 controls a data input/output section 13, and sends following input data to a storage section 12 instead of to a main printer system 11. If the input data is stored in the storage section 12, a data input/output section 13 returns to a normal state which allows the input data to be output as it is to the main printer system 11, and then operates as an ordinary serial printer. If the timer section 14 indicates the arrival of a set time, the former starts the main printer system 11, controlling the data input/ output section 13 to send the data from the storage section 12 to the main printer system 11 for printing. If the printing is completed, the data input/output section 13 returns to a state which allows the input data to be sent to the main printer system 11.
