The present invention relates to a new packing for water structures. More specifically, it relates to a gasket that can change its shape to follow changes in gaps in water structures such as water gates, large-diameter piping, tunnels, RC segments such as subways and public ditches. Conventionally, rubber gaskets have been used to seal, for example, gaps between gates and gate frames in water gates for blocking waterways, or joints in agricultural water pipes. In other words, two members of a water structure are usually separated by a certain gap so that the two members can move relative to each other, or to facilitate installation work or to make strict dimensional control difficult. The sealing properties are achieved by interposing an elastic gasket in the gap. In that case, for example, the gasket 101 has the original shape shown by the two-dot chain line in FIG.
The two members 1 are bent as shown by the solid line.
02 and 103, and the elastic force of the packing 101 causes the lip portion 104 to abut along the surface 106 of the mating member 105. Therefore, reliable sealing performance can be obtained by the water pressure in the direction of arrow P. However, in particularly large water structures, etc., there are large variations in the gap, so the lip portion 104
It is difficult to attach the entire surface 106 uniformly along the surface 106. For example, when installing a ring-shaped V gasket 107 as shown in FIG. 23, if there are variations in the gap, tighten the gland presser 108 according to the area where the gap is large. There is a possibility that it will be damaged due to too much pressure. Furthermore, during use, the gap may change due to changes in the environment such as ground subsidence, the elasticity of the packing material may decrease over time, shrinkage due to solidification, wear due to sliding friction, etc. There is a problem in that a gap is created between the surface of the mating member and the surface of the mating member, making it impossible to seal. Therefore, the inventors of the present invention have conducted intensive research to solve the above-mentioned problems, and have found that the range in which the sealing performance of the packing can be maintained is extremely narrow compared to the variation and amount of change in the gaps. Focusing on the fact that this is the cause of the problem, we came up with a new idea that the above problem can be solved by using a packing whose shape changes depending on the usage situation as described below, and we have completed the present invention. It was it. That is, the present invention is a packing for sealing gaps between water structures, such as joints between water structures and gaps between water structures and other objects, and which includes a lip that contacts the surface of a mating member. The packing body is composed of a packing body having a lip part on a part thereof, and a swelling member made of a super absorbent resin, the swelling member being integrally joined to one side of the lip part of the packing body, and the swelling member absorbing water. The gist of the present invention is to provide a packing for a water structure in which the lip portion is bent back to press against a mating member due to an expansion action. In addition, the packing referred to in the claims refers to the first
In addition to the usual gaskets shown in Figures 1 and 4, water structures such as tape-shaped sealing materials inserted between caissons, etc., as shown in Figures 12, 13, or 16, are used. This concept includes anything that prevents water leakage by intervening in the joints of objects. The lip portion includes, for example, the lip portion 23 of the packing shown in FIG. The concept includes all parts such as parts 8 and 36 that are part of the packing body 3 and that perform a sealing function by coming into contact with the surface of a mating member due to its elastic repulsive force. Next, the packing of the water structure of the present invention (hereinafter simply referred to as packing) will be explained with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a perspective view of essential parts showing one embodiment of the packing of the present invention, FIGS. 2 and 2a are sectional views showing other embodiments of the packing of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the packing of the present invention. FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the essential parts of another embodiment of the packing of the present invention, and FIG. 5 shows the packing shown in FIG. 4 in its usage condition. Sectional view, No. 6
Figures 1-16 are sectional views of essential parts showing other embodiments of the packing of the present invention, Figure 17 is an explanatory diagram showing performance tests of one embodiment of the packing of the present invention, and Figures 18 and 19 are respectively sectional views of main parts. FIG. 17 is a graph showing the measurement results of the performance test, and FIGS. 20 and 21 are sectional views comparing the shapes of other examples of the packing of the present invention before and after swelling. In FIG. 1, a flat packing 1 is shown. The packing 1 consists of a packing main body 3 having a recess 2 formed on one side thereof, and a swelling member 4 embedded in the recess 2. Note that as shown in FIG. 2, a notch 5 may be formed in place of the recess, and a swelling member may be joined to the notch 5. Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 2a, a flat packing body 3 and a flat swelling member 4 may be simply laminated and fixed. In any of the above-mentioned packings, the tip of the packing main body 3 constitutes a lip portion 8 that is placed along the surface of the mating member. The material used for the packing body 3 in the present invention is one that has elasticity, mechanical strength, shape retention, and has wear resistance depending on the usage conditions. In other words, the material of the packing body can be conventionally used rubber materials for packing, such as natural rubber, NR, SBR, NBR, CR, EPDM,
In addition to rubber materials such as CSM, silicone rubber, fluorine rubber, and cloth-filled rubber using these rubbers, various synthetic resins having elasticity or flexibility can be cited. Further, as the swelling member 4, a mixture of rubber or synthetic resin with super absorbent resin is used.
A super absorbent resin may be used alone. Super absorbent resin absorbs and retains about 500 times its own weight of water, and expands greatly as it absorbs water.
Examples of superabsorbent resins include starch-based superabsorbent resins obtained by graft copolymerizing starch with acrylonitrile, acrylic acid, styrene sulfonic acid, vinyl sulfonic acid, etc., cellulose-acrylonitrile graft copolymers, and cellulose-styrene sulfonic acid graft copolymers. Polymers, cellulose-based super-absorbent resins such as cross-linked carboxymethylcellulose, cross-linked polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl alcohol-based super-absorbent resins such as saponified acrylic-vinyl acetate copolymers, polyacrylate cross-linked products, Examples include saponified products of acrylonitrile polymers and acrylic superabsorbent resins such as crosslinked polyethylene glycol diacrylate products. The swelling member 4 in the present invention is preferably made of a rubber material similar to the packing material or a synthetic resin mixed with the superabsorbent resin. As a result, a swelling member 4 having moldability, shape retention, mechanical strength and elasticity is obtained. Note that the superabsorbent resin may be used alone. In addition to natural rubber, the rubber used for the swelling member 4 includes various synthetic rubbers or polyurethane used in the packing body of SBR and the like. Examples of the synthetic resin include ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. In general, the higher the content of the superabsorbent resin, the higher the volumetric expansion rate of the swelling member 4 and the faster expansion, and the lower the content, the better the mechanical properties such as moldability. The content of the super absorbent resin is set, for example, so that the volumetric expansion coefficient of the swelling member is twice or more. The preferred blending ratio is 10 to 100 parts of rubber or synthetic resin (parts by weight, same hereinafter) of super absorbent resin.
300 copies, especially between 20 and 100 copies. It should be noted that the swelling member 4 preferably has excellent bonding properties with the packing body 3 and has elasticity, which improves the integrity and mechanical strength of the packing as a whole, thereby ensuring reliable deformation. For example, the main component of the swelling member 4 is rubber,
When the gasket body 3 is made of rubber, it has almost the same compressibility and elasticity, so it has the advantage that it can be handled in almost the same way as conventional gaskets. Another advantage is that it can be manufactured using the same manufacturing equipment as conventional rubber gaskets. Various methods can be used to join the packing body 3 and the swelling member 4 depending on their materials. For example, when joining a rubber packing body 3 and a swelling member 4 made of a mixture of super absorbent resin and rubber, the molded unvulcanized packing body and the uncured swelling member are bonded together. Strongly joined by vulcanizing under pressure in a press, or by vulcanizing the unvulcanized packing body and unvulcanized swelling material that are continuously extruded in multiple layers using an extrusion molding machine. can do.
In this case, if the rubber material constituting the packing body 3 and the rubber material contained in the swelling member 4 are compatible, it is preferable that they be of the same type of rubber, for example, from the viewpoint of bondability. Next, the operation of the packing of the present invention constructed as described above will be explained. As shown in FIG. 1, the packing 1 of the present invention
A swelling member 4 is provided on the back side of the lip portion 8 of the packing body 3. Therefore, after the packing 1 is attached to a water structure, the swelling member 4 absorbs water and its volume increases. Therefore, the packing 1 tends to bend toward the side opposite to the swelling member 4, as shown by the two-dot chain line 19 in FIG. Therefore, if there is a gap left during installation,
Alternatively, if the gap increases during use, the seal deforms to follow the change in the gap, and the force to make it conform to the surface of the mating member is always ensured, providing an excellent effect of maintaining the sealing effect. In other words, the seal 1 of the present invention has a unique property of gap followability that is not found in conventional seals. It also has the advantage that the installation work is extremely easy. The packing of the present invention can be used as various packings, such as those described below, by utilizing the above-mentioned unique properties. In FIG. 3, 10 is a gate that opens and closes in the vertical direction (direction perpendicular to the plane of the paper in the drawing), and together with the gate frame 11 constitutes a water gate. A gap 12 is provided between the gate 10 and the gate frame 11. A packing 1 is attached to the tip of the gate 10, a holding plate 13, and a bolt 1.
4. It is attached with a nut 15 or the like.
The natural shape (the shape when no external force is applied) when the gasket 1 is installed is an L-shape as shown by the two-dot chain line 16, but when the gate 10 is closed, the shape shown in FIG. It is somewhat deflected as shown by the solid line. In other words, the repulsive force F caused by such bending is the
This force causes the lip portion 8 of the gate frame 11 to align with the gate frame 11, and sealing pressure is ensured by the water pressure in the direction of arrow A. When water is poured into the water gate, the swelling member 4 absorbs the water and the lip portion 8 deforms in the direction of arrow A. In this case, the lip portion 8 is located on the surface 11a of the gate frame 11.
Since it is bent by contacting with the object, only the elastic force increases, and there is no change in appearance. In such a state, even if the gap increases for some reason, the lip portion 8 will not be able to maintain its shape, for example, as indicated by the two-dot chain line 1.
The gate frame 11 always follows the changes as shown by 8.
Since it comes into contact with the surface 11a, water will not enter. The packing of the present invention is not limited to a flat plate or a long one with a specific cross section as shown in Figures 1 to 3, but can be of various shapes depending on the shape and connection state of the mating water structure. Subject to change. For example, the packing 21 shown in FIGS.
has a packing main body 22 consisting of a ring-shaped base 22a and two ring-shaped lips 23 protruding substantially parallel from the side surface of the base 22a. A groove-shaped recess 24 is formed on the inner surface of the lip portion 23, and a swelling member 25 similar to that described above is embedded in the recess 24. As for the material of the packing body 22, conventionally known packing materials can be used. As shown in FIG. 5, the packing 21 has
It is used for sealing the connection part of a large diameter pipe, and is an annular cavity 30 between the inner circumferential surface 27 of the socket pipe 26 and the outer circumferential surface 29 of the insertion pipe 28.
is inserted into. In this case, the swelling member 25 absorbs water and its volume expands, the natural shape of the lip portion 23 is deformed as shown in FIG. 21, and the width W is expanded. Therefore, even if the entire packing 21 undergoes changes over time, such as deformation, shrinkage, solidification, or stress relaxation, and its elasticity decreases, the surface of the lip portion 23 and the inner circumferential surface 27 of the socket pipe 26 or the socket pipe 28 Water will not leak from between the outer circumferential surfaces 29 of. The flat packing 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is
It can also be used by being inserted between opposing planes of two members like a gasket. For example, FIG. 6 shows an annular packing 33 interposed between two flanges 31,32.
The original shape of the annular packing 33 is flat as shown by the two-dot chain line. Flanges 31, 32
When water seeps out due to loosening of the tightening force between the parts or other causes, the swelling member 4 expands and deforms to warp as shown by the solid line. Therefore, the lip portion 8 and the surfaces 34 of the flanges 31, 32 are always in contact with each other, and water leakage is prevented. FIG. 7 shows another embodiment of the annular packing used in the same case as FIG. 6. In this case, the inner and outer ends of the packing 35 constitute lip portions 36 and 37, respectively. FIG. 8 shows a cross section of the annular or flat packing, which has a shape in which the swelling member 4 is sandwiched between the packing main body 38 in the shape of a sandwich. Of the end surfaces 4a and 4b of the swelling member 4, only the end surface 4a side that is in contact with water expands. 9, 10, and 11 show cases in which the present invention is applied to conventionally known U-shaped packing 40, V-shaped packing 41, and L-shaped packing 42, respectively. In both cases, the solid line represents the original shape, and the two-dot chain line represents the state after expansion with no external force applied. The packing 43 shown in FIG. 12 is interposed between the flanges 31 and 32 in the same way as in the case of FIG. Felt 45 or paper is interposed to improve absorbency. Packings 46 and 47 in Figures 13 and 14
each has a slit 44 and a swelling member 4 at both ends.
is provided. This material is used as a sealant for joints in caissons, etc. In addition, annular or elongated sealing materials or packings 48, 49 having cross-sectional shapes as shown in FIGS. 15 and 16, for example, may also be used. Any of the packings described above can absorb variations in the gap during installation. Further, when the gap increases due to changes in the packing over time, the packing deforms as described above, and the deformation stops when an appropriate elastic force is reached to prevent water leakage. Even if the water leak occurs again after that,
Patsukin transforms each time. That is, the packing of the present invention has the excellent effect of automatically setting an appropriate sealing pressure at all times, depending on the usage conditions. The packing of the present invention does not simply fill the gap based on the expansion of the packing and thereby seal it, but due to the difference in water swelling properties between the packing main body and the swelling member joined to one surface of the lip part.
Warpage occurs in the lip portion, and this deformation provides sealing performance. As mentioned above, the packing of the present invention can be applied to packing of various shapes, and is used not only for connecting parts of large-diameter pipes and sealing gaps in water gates, but also for sealing gaps in tank towers, piping, tunnels, subways, etc. It can be used for various purposes as a sealing material for the joints of caissons or RC segments such as public ditches, that is, to shield water leakage from the inside or water intrusion from the outside, and its practical value is It is extremely large. Next, the deformation effect of the packing of the present invention will be explained based on examples. Example 1 The test piece 51 shown in FIG. 17 has a thickness T 1 5 mm,
This is obtained by cutting a flat packing with a width of B 1 60 mm into lengths of 200 mm. The swelling member 4 has a thickness (T 2 ) of 2.5 mm and a width (B 2 ) of 30 mm.
The distance L from the tip of the packing is 10
It is embedded in a recess 2 formed at a position of mm. The material of the packing body 3 is SBR (Hs50),
Swelling member 4 is made by mixing 100 parts of SBR (parts by weight, same hereinafter) with 40 parts of Sumikagel (trade name of a super absorbent resin manufactured by Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd.). The packing body 3 and the swelling member 4 were unvulcanized and molded and then vulcanized under pressure to be joined together. One end of this test piece 51 was attached to an iron plate 52 as shown in FIG. 17, and immersed in tap water. Under the above test conditions, the tip 53 of the test piece 51
The change in height H over time was measured. The results are shown in FIG. The graph in Fig. 19 shows the relationship between the magnitude of the load and the amount of deformation when the load We is applied as shown in Fig. 17 to the packing after deformation after being immersed in tap water for 24 hours. According to the graph of FIG. 18, it can be seen that the tip 53 of the test piece 51 gradually rises as time passes. After 24 hours, the tip 53 of the test piece 51 has risen by about 17 mm. Also, according to the graph in Figure 19, after 24 hours, there is a relatively large gap (for example, 10~
It can be seen that even if a force of 6 to 8 kgf is generated, a force of about 6 to 8 kgf can be maintained to make the surface of the mating member move along the surface of the mating member. It can also be seen that when the gap is small (for example, 6 mm), a strong force (about 20 Kgf) is maintained. Example 2 Next, a ring-shaped packing having a cross-sectional shape as shown in Fig. 20 was cut into a length of 200 mm to obtain a test piece 55.
I got it. The material and manufacturing method of the packing body 22 and the swelling member 25 are the same as those of the test piece 51. This product was immersed in tap water, and the state in which the width W between the outer surfaces of the lip portion 23 changed over time was measured. The results are shown in Table 1.

0 and 21). Therefore, the sealing performance at the lip portion is maintained semi-permanently. In addition, in order to follow changes in the gap,
A certain level of alignment force is always ensured. In addition, the mechanical strength and elasticity of the test piece 51 in FIG. 17 and the test piece 55 in FIG. 20 are almost the same as those of conventional packing regardless of whether before or after swelling, and the bond between the packing main body and the swelling member is also strong.
