Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a resin composition excellent in the heat resistance, transparency, etc., of a cured product by mixing a resin component comprising a polymer of an alicyclic compound having a plurality of (meth)acryloyloxy groups with a fine inorganic filler in a specified weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:10-80wt.% resin component (A) comprising a polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer comprising an alicyclic compound having a plurality of (meth)acryloloxy groups alone or together with a copolymerizable monomer is mixed with 90-20wt.% inorganic filler (B) of a mean particle diameter <=50mum (e.g. calcium carbonate or silica) to produce a resin composition. Examples of component A include a polymer of a compound of formula I and a copolymer of a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III. The obtained resin composition can be desirably used in the production of artificial marbles, bathtubs, building materials, etc.

2. Description of the Related Art Resin compositions are known in which various inorganic fillers are dispersed in a resin component made of a thermosetting resin such as an epoxy resin. By molding and curing such a resin composition, artificial marble that can be used as a variety of materials is manufactured. Artificial marble is also produced by kneading partially polymerized methyl methacrylate syrup with an inorganic filler such as aluminum hydroxide powder and curing the mixture. Furthermore, FRP products are manufactured by combining and curing glass fibers and thermosetting resins.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, in conventionally known resin compositions, the resin component is generally formed of a polymer with a low glass transition point, so the heat resistance of the final cured product is poor. For example, the temperature at which thermal deformation occurs is low, and when exposed to high temperatures, yellowing, discoloration, and cracking occur. For this reason, products obtained from conventional resin compositions have a problem in that the temperature at which they can be used is restricted to a narrow range.

Furthermore, in conventional resin compositions used in the production of artificial marble, synthesized aluminum hydroxide powder and quartz powder are widely used as inorganic fillers. However, because the difference in refractive index between these inorganic powders and the polymer used as the resin component is quite large, the resulting cured product has extremely low transparency and poor appearance. Therefore, it is not satisfactory as an artificial marble.

When a monomer (■) consisting of a polyfunctional alicyclic (meth)acrylate is used as all or a part of the polymerization monomer to obtain a resin component, the inorganic filler is used to polymerize the monomer (■). It is preferable to dissolve and disperse it in the monomer for polymerization before treatment. The monomer (2) made of this polyfunctional alicyclic (meth)acrylate itself has high fluidity and can sufficiently disperse the inorganic filler without causing it to settle. Therefore, even when the proportion of inorganic fillers used is high, a sufficiently good dispersion state can be obtained, and even after dispersion, the polymerization monomer is maintained at a low viscosity state, which is necessary before the polymerization process. This is preferable because the deaeration operation described above can be carried out easily and sufficiently, and as a result, a good cured product can be produced from the resin composition of the present invention.

The method of obtaining a molded article from the resin composition of the present invention is not particularly limited, but for example, when a casting method is used, an inorganic filler and a polymerization initiator are added to the polymerization material.
A polymerization composition is prepared by mixing a silane coupling agent and additives added as necessary, and this polymerization composition is injected or press-fitted into an appropriate mold, and is heated at room temperature to 60℃, for example. A method can be used in which a monomer for polymerization is subjected to a polymerization treatment at a temperature of approximately 0.degree. C., and then, if necessary, a heat treatment is performed at a temperature of 80 to 120.degree.

From the results in Table 1, it is clear that the resin composition of the present invention has excellent heat resistance and high transparency because its resin component is composed of a polymer obtained from a specific monomer. be. Furthermore, a polymer made of monomer 1 made of polyfunctional alicyclic (meth)acrylate provides even better water resistance, does not whiten even in hot water, and does not impair its appearance. do not have.

Table 1 [Effects of the present invention] The resin composition according to the present invention has great heat resistance because the polymer forming the resin component has a high glass transition point obtained from a specific monomer. Even under high temperatures, deterioration such as deformation and discoloration does not occur.

Further, in the resin composition of the present invention, the polymer forming the resin component has a high refractive index, and as a result, the refractive index is similar to that of aluminum hydroxide, quartz, etc., which are preferable as inorganic fillers. As a result, high transparency can be obtained as a whole. Therefore, the cured product of the resin composition according to the present invention not only has high heat resistance as described above, but also
It has a deep and good appearance in terms of transparency and whiteness, and is a suitable material for fields that require high heat resistance, such as artificial marble, residential equipment such as bathtubs and kitchen counters, building materials, and vehicle parts. be.

Furthermore, when the resin component is a polymer obtained from the monomer (1) consisting of a polyfunctional alicyclic (meth)acrylate, the resin composition has greater durability in hot water and may deteriorate in appearance. Therefore, it can be used in a wider range of applications.
