Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 [産業上の利用分野] 本発明は潤滑油の潤滑特性を向上せしめうる添加剤に関
する。さらに詳しくは動力機関に用いられる潤滑油に添
加することにより、潤滑油自身の耐荷重性を向上せしめ
ると共に動力機関の磨耗を防ぎ、摩擦Gこよるエネルギ
ー効率の低下を軽減しうる潤滑油用添加剤に関する。
[従来の技術] 従来、潤滑油の潤滑特性を向上させる添加剤として、ポ
リテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)や二硫化モリブ
デンの微粉末の懸濁液が商品化されている。
PTFEは耐熱性、潤滑特性、耐薬品性に優れた樹脂で
はあるが、はとんどの有機溶剤に不溶であり、溶液状で
使用することができず、したがって微粉末化したものが
懸濁液の状態で使用されている。
しかしながら、依然として潤滑油との相溶性や潤滑油へ
の分散性などに問題があり、たとえば使用前に懸濁液中
で沈澱したり、潤滑油に添加した後も潤滑油中で分離沈
澱したり、動力機関内に沈着したり、さらにはフィルタ
ーを詰まらせたりしている。
また、PTFE微粉末や二硫化モリブデンの微粉末を潤
滑油に添加しても、耐荷重性はさほど向上しない。
[発明が解決しようとする課題] 本発明は従来の懸濁型の添加剤に代えて、懸濁型の微粉
末に起因する欠点を排除できかつ耐荷重性および耐磨耗
性を向上せしめうる溶液型の潤滑油用添加剤を提供する
ことを目的とする。
[課題を解決するための手段] かかる目的は、溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物に前記有機
チタン化合物の溶剤と7タル酸エステルとを配合するこ
とによって達成される。
[作用] 本発明の潤滑油用添加剤において、溶剤可溶性有機チタ
ン化合物が潤滑油の耐荷重性を向上せしめ、フタル酸エ
ステルが耐磨耗性を向上せしめているものと考えられる
が、未だ明らかではない。
[実施例] 溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物は主として撓水剤、表面処
理剤、特殊ランプの表面造膜成分等として開発され使用
されているが、本発明で用いる溶剤可溶性有機チタン化
合物としては、そうした特殊ランプ用の溶剤可溶性有機
チタン化合物を含め、通常の有機溶剤に溶解するものが
使用できる。好ましい溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物とし
ては、たとえばテトライソプロポキシチタン、テトラ−
n−ブトキシチタン等のテトラアルコキシチタン化合物
、チタンアシレート化合物、及びチタンアセチルアセト
ネート等のチタンキレート化合物があげられる。
この有機チタン化合物を溶解する溶剤には非水系のアル
コール類、エステル類などが用いられ、好ましい溶剤と
しては、たとえばメチルアルコール、エチルアルコール
、イソプロピルアルコール、イソブチルアルコール、エ
チルアセテート、ブチルアセテート、エトキシエチルア
セテートなどの1種または2種以上があげられ、とくに
エチルアルコール、エチルアセテートなどが好ましい。
フタル酸エステルは、溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物の添
加によりやや低下する耐磨耗性(使用部位の壁面などの
磨耗を防止する特性)を向上せしめる働きをする。フタ
ル酸エステルとしては、たとえばジブチルフタレート、
ジオクチルフタレート、ジイソデシルフタレートなどが
あげられる。
各成分の配合割合は、対象とする潤滑油、使用有機チタ
ン化合物や溶剤、フタル酸エステルの種類によって異な
るが、通常溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物1部(重量部、
以下同様)に対して溶剤を6〜60部、好ましくは10
〜30部、フタル酸エステルを10〜1000部、好ま
しくは50〜500部配合すればよい、なお、本発明の
添加剤は溶液型ではあるが、不溶部分を若干含んでいて
も良い、またフタル酸エステルの範囲量を増やすと溶剤
可溶性有機チタン化合物や潤滑油との相溶性がやや低下
するが、溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物による潤滑油の耐
荷重性の向上の度合いを促進する傾向にある。
とくに好ましい配合は、溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物1
部に対してエチルアルコールが3〜30部、好ましくは
5〜20部、エチルアセテートが3〜30部、好ましく
は5〜20部、ジオクチルフタレート10〜1000部
、好ましくは50〜500部である。
なお、配合の際、溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物は、その
ままあるいは溶剤に溶解した状態で他の成分に添加使用
することができる。
対象とする潤滑油としては、レシプロエンジン、ターボ
エンジン、ロータリーエンジンなどのエンジン類や軸受
なとの可動部分に使用されている従来の潤滑油があげら
れる。潤滑油に対する配合量は、潤滑油1見あたり溶剤
可溶性有機チタン化合物が0.01〜10g、好ましく
は0,05〜1gとなる量である。
また、本発明の添加剤に予め潤滑油を少量添加しておけ
ば、潤滑油へ添加したときの混合・分散が一層容易にな
る。かかる潤滑油の添加剤への配合量は、溶剤可溶性有
機チタン化合物100部に対して10〜300部程度が
好ましい。
つぎに本発明の添加剤を実施例に基づいて説明するが、
本発明はかかる実施例のみに限定されるものではない。
[実施例コ 溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物としてウシオ電機(株)製
ランプコーティング用有機チタン化合物の溶液を用い、
これにエチルアルコール、エチルアセテート及びジオク
チルフタレート(DOP)を第1表に示す割合で配合し
て潤滑油用添加剤を作製した。ついで潤滑油(出光興産
(株)製の自動車用エンジンオイルアポロイルファース
ト)11に溶剤可溶性フッ素樹脂が第1表に示す量とな
るように各添加剤を添加して、各潤滑油の耐荷重性耐磨
耗性(曽田式四球摩擦試験機により測定した耐荷重性磨
耗性径で表す)を調べな、結果を第1表に示す。
[以下余白] 第1表から明らかなごと(、DOPを配合しないとき、
(実験番号5〜7)は耐荷重性は向上するが、耐磨耗性
が低下する。しかしDOPを配合するとき(実験番号2
〜4)は耐荷重性がより向上すると共に耐磨耗性も回復
する。更に、有機チタン化合物を添゛加すると潤滑油の
耐荷重性が向上し、特にDOPとの組合わせによりその
効果が頴著となることが分る。
なお、いずれの添加剤も作製3日後においても相分離は
生ぜず、また潤滑油への混合も容易であった。
[発明の効果] 本発明の添加剤を用いるときは、潤滑油の耐荷重性を向
上せしめることができると共に使用部分の磨耗を防止す
ることができ、摩擦によるエネルギー効率の低下を抑制
することができる。したがって、エンジンなどの動力機
関に使用するときは、出力の増大、騒音の防止、燃費の
削減、部品の寿命の延長などの優れた効果が奏される。

Claims (6)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)溶剤可溶性有機チタン化合物と該有機チタン化合
    物の溶剤とフタル酸エステルとからなる潤滑油用添加剤
  2. (2)前記溶剤がアルコール類、エステル類、またはそ
    れらの化合物である請求項1記載の添加剤。
  3. (3)前記溶剤がエチルアルコールまたはエチルアセテ
    ートである請求項2記載の添加剤。
  4. (4)前記フタル酸エステルがジオクチルフタレートま
    たはジブチルフタレートである請求項1記載の添加剤。
  5. (5)添加剤中の前記有機チタン化合物含有量が0.1
    〜5重量%である請求項1記載の添加剤。
  6. (6)前記有機チタン化合物1重量部にエチルアルコー
    ル3〜30重量部およびジオクチルフタレート10〜1
    000重量部が配合されてなる請求項1記載の添加剤。
