Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to maintain the sufficiently carrying property of the title material by mounting a backing layer contg. a specified dyestuff on the opposite side of a photosensitive layer against a supporting body. CONSTITUTION:The backing layer contains a mat agent contg. >=30vol.% of a particle having a particle size of >=5mum, and the dyestuff in an amount capable of giving an optical density of at least 0.6 at the region of a wavelength of 700-840nm, and the backing layer is mounted on the opposite side of the photosensitive layer against the supporting body. The mat agent is composed of the discontinuous solid particle of an inorg. or an org. material which is capable of dispersing in a hydrophilic org. colloidal binder, and may be dissolved or not by subjecting the photosensitive material to a development processing. Thus, the title photographic sensitive material which is improved the carrying property and capable of sensitizing by infrared rays, is obtd.

(Prior Art) One of the exposure methods for photographic light-sensitive materials is to scan an original image and expose the silver halide photographic material based on the image signal, thereby creating a negative or positive image corresponding to the image on the original image. An image forming method using a so-called scanner is known.

There are a variety of recording devices that use a scanner-only image forming method, and glow lamps, xenon lamps, mercury lamps, tungsten lamps, light-emitting diodes, etc. have traditionally been used as recording light sources for these scanner-only recording devices. . However, all of these light sources have practical drawbacks of low output and short lifespan. To compensate for these drawbacks, there are scanners that use a coherent laser light source, such as a Ne-He laser, an argon laser, or a He-Cd laser, as a scanner-only light source. Although these devices can provide high output, they are large and expensive, require a modulator, and use visible light, which limits the safelight of photosensitive materials and makes them difficult to handle. There are drawbacks such as.

On the other hand, semiconductor lasers are small, inexpensive, easy to modulate, have a longer lifespan than the lasers mentioned above, and emit light in the infrared region, so if a photosensitive material sensitive to the infrared region is used, a bright safelight can be produced. Since it can be used, it has a fl1 point of improving handling workability.

When trying to feed photosensitive materials using such an automatic conveyance system, it may get stuck on the way and not be fed, or especially in the case of large sheet films, when trying to feed them one by one from the sheet tray or stack zone, two sheets may be stuck together. On the other hand, if a large-sized mantle agent is added to the emulsion layer or its protective layer to improve transportability, the mantle agent may cause light scattering, resulting in a decrease in image quality, or the matting agent may be contaminated with halogens. It may sink into the silver oxide emulsion layer and cause irradiation, or in the case of a spherical cape agent, it may produce a lens effect and cause spot sensitization. Furthermore, as described in JP-A-61-188945, there is a known method of improving feeding performance by adding a large capping agent to the backing layer of a paper support; If a matting agent of the same size is included in the buffing layer, even if exposure is performed from the emulsion surface, the light scattering effect from the backing M will be large and the image quality will deteriorate.

Exposure to obtain a photographic image may be carried out using a conventional method. i.e. natural light (sunlight), tungsten electric light,
There are many types of known infrared light sources, such as mercury lamps, xenon arc lamps, carbon arc lamps, xenon flash lamps, cathode ray tube flying spots, light emitting diodes, and laser lights (e.g. gas lasers, dye lasers, YAG lasers, semiconductor lasers, etc.). Any light source can be used. Alternatively, exposure may be performed using light emitted from a phosphor excited by electron beams, X-rays, γ-rays, α-rays, or the like. Exposure time is 1/1000 second to 1, which is normally used in cameras.
Not only exposure times of seconds, but also exposures shorter than 1/1000 seconds, such as xenon flash lamps or cathode ray tubes, are used.
Exposures of 10' to 1/10' seconds can be used, or exposures longer than 1 second can be used.

The backing layer may be composed of a single layer or may be composed of 2N or more. When composed of two or more layers, the dye and matting agent may be added to the same layer or to separate layers. Good too. For example, the puffing layer may be composed of two layers, with a dye added to the lower layer (N closer to the support) and a matting agent added to the upper layer (N farther from the support). The binder may be contained in the lower layer, and the upper layer may be substantially only a binder layer.

The photosensitive material thus obtained was 50CIlX50a.
We cut 100 pieces of photosensitive material into pieces of m in size and stacked them, used a suction cup to suck up the edges of the photosensitive material, and counted the number of times the second photosensitive material was lifted up together with the photosensitive material during 10,000 conveyances. Obtained the results in the table.
